You've never seen anything like it. Because there's never been anything like it.

The all-new MacBook Pro started with a blank slate - without the constraints of legacy technology. That gave you something radical, something entirely different. A notebook so thin, so light and so powerful. A notebook designed for the future, but ready to use today.

A Retina display with 5.1 million pixels. An all-flash architecture. Quad-core Intel Core i7 processors. In a design that’s just 0.71 inch thin and 4.46 pounds. It’s not just the most advanced notebook you've ever met, it’s the most advanced Mac you’ve ever met.

  • newegg Retina Display. The world's highest-resolution notebook display. Apple wanted this MacBook Pro to have a screen as vivid as your imagination. A screen where everything you see is remarkably vibrant, detailed, and sharp. What Apple created is the world's highest-resolution notebook display-and the most jaw-dropping Retina display yet. 5 million pixels in a 15.4-inch display present a so high pixel density that your eyes can’t discern individual pixels. Images take on a new level of realism and text is pin sharp. And with a 2880-by-1800 resolution, you can see more of your high-resolution images onscreen with pixel-for-pixel accuracy. The new Retina display reduces glare while maintaining incredible color and quality. In fact, it has a 29 percent higher contrast ratio than a standard MacBook Pro display. Blacks are blacker. Whites are whiter. And everything in between is rich and vibrant. IPS technology gives you a wide, 178-degree view on the screen, so you’ll see the difference at practically any angle. And you’re going to love what you see.
  • newegg All-flash storage. It makes quicker work of everything. When you build a notebook around an all-flash architecture, not only is everything more durable, reliable, and battery efficient-everything is fast. Really, really fast. You’ll notice a difference in whatever you do — starting up takes seconds, apps launch quickly, even navigating the desktop feels incredibly fluid and responsive. It’s all thanks to flash storage, which gives you up to four times the performance of a traditional hard drive. When you use apps like Final Cut Pro or Aperture, you can perform even the most demanding tasks right from your internal storage. And since the all-new MacBook Pro comes with up to 768GB of flash storage, you can keep all your important files with you, including large video and photo libraries. Flash doesn’t have any moving parts, which makes it superdurable and quiet. It also has the ability to stay in standby mode for up to a month. Whether it’s been 1 day or 30, this all-flash MacBook Pro will spring to life, right where you left off.
  • newegg Intel Core i7 and Next-generation NVIDIA graphics This notebook has the power to do amazing things. Third-generation Intel Core i7 Ivy Bridge processors with a state-of-the-art 22-nanometer single-die microarchitecture provide the fastest quad-core performance ever in a notebook. Hyper-Threading technology, speeds up to 2.7GHz, 6MB of shared L3 cache, and Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.7GHz, these processors are ready to take on whatever you can dream up. The all-new MacBook Pro has a phenomenal display — and a GPU to match. Based on a next-generation Kepler architecture with 1GB of dedicated video memory, the NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M graphics processor provides up to 60 percent faster graphics performance than any notebook Apple has ever made. And it delivers enough power to drive the amazing 5-million-pixel Retina display as well as two external displays. All while making the most graphics-intensive tasks — like rendering HD video and editing RAW photography — fast, fluid, and incredibly lifelike.
  • newegg Ports and Connections Everything about the all-new MacBook Pro is high performance — even its I/O. Thunderbolt is the fastest, most versatile I/O available, and this notebook has two Thunderbolt ports. That’s a huge advantage when you need to connect to just about anything — external displays, RAID arrays, video capture devices, even FireWire peripherals (adapter sold separately, available July) and Gigabit Ethernet networks (adapter sold separately). Combine that with two USB 3 ports, an HDMI port, and an SDXC card slot, and in a matter of minutes you can build an entire professional studio with the all-new MacBook Pro as its centerpiece. Meet the ultimate mobile creative studio. With an emphasis on mobile. Equipped with the latest three-stream 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 wireless technology, you’re free to unplug and still stay connected — to your network, to your wireless peripherals, and to the world.
  • newegg Audio and Visual You haven’t heard it all until you’ve heard the speakers inside the all-new MacBook Pro. For something so thin and light, the sound is huge. And with a wide dynamic range, optimal balance, and a crisp, expressive quality, these speakers might sound too good to be true. That’s because engineers labored painstakingly over the design to maximize the quality of every decibel you hear. Dual built-in microphones are great for when you want to be heard. If you’re making a FaceTime call, for example, the mics reduce background noise from behind the notebook. And when you use Dictation (coming this summer in OS X Mountain Lion), they create an adaptive audio beam that intelligently adjusts to detect your voice — instead of the noise around you. The FaceTime HD camera is built into the widescreen Retina display. So you can make 720p HD calls to someone else’s iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, or Mac with a FaceTime HD camera.
  • newegg Multi-Touch Trackpad and Backlit Keyboard In OS X, Multi-Touch is an essential part of how you interact with your Mac. Using realistic, intuitive gestures, you can switch between apps, navigate your content, and get the most out of your desktop space. The all-new MacBook Pro features a Multi-Touch trackpad with a large, all-glass button surface. So you can tap, pinch, swipe, and click away comfortably. Thin and light, this notebook is designed to go anywhere — including places with less-than-stellar lighting. A built-in sensor detects changes in ambient light and adjusts the keyboard brightness automatically. So you’re never left in the dark.

1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy Apple

Pros: Looks nice and brand recognition makes you feel professional.

Cons: Apple does not stand by their warranty. No service unless you live near a certified Apple repair dealership. Computers overheat easily. Do not use the GPU and CPU at the same time it will cause temps above 90'C (194'F).

Other Thoughts: I have decided to no longer purchase any Apple products or services. I'm extremely dissatisfied. I don't even need to say anything to my friends and family about my experience with Apple. All have witnessed the above 90'C temperatures this computer has reached and the red marks on my hands from the heat. Unfortunately I wasted my money on a giffen good. I will know in the future to avoid this brand entirely. What a waste of time!

5 out of 5 eggsBest computer I've ever owned

Pros: This is easily the best laptop I've owned in the last 25 years due to its build quality, reliability and overall usability. I'm an IT pro so I've used the high-end pro gear from IBM, HP, Dell, Fujitsu, etc.. this is as good as it gets.

Boots in seconds, runs quiet and extremely fast. Keyboard (backlit) is near perfect (and I come from a long line of IBM Thinkpad keyboards which are the benchmark). Retina display is crisp and rich - visual perfection.

Love the size and weight too - great for travelling with no compromise on screen size.

Cons: Only two USB 3.0 ports, no line input, non-upgradeable ram (I got the 16gb model for this reason). Biggest con- having to adjust and look at non-Retina LCD panels at work.

The price seems like a con, but it was truly worth every penny I spent.

Other Thoughts: A few of these other reviewers complained about the video card but I've really had no problem with it (I've run Bioshock 2, BF3 and X-Plane with no issues).

Battery life is down to around 4.5 hours after 300 charge cycles.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Excellent display, very light and thin with a robust housing made of aluminum. The multi touch pad is very intuitive and useful, puts traditional laptop track pads to shame. You get the added benefit of resell value down the road if the need arises.

Cons: The memory is not upgradable and the repairability is all but nonexistent.

Other Thoughts: I'm windows pc user, builder, and enthusiast. Don't listen to these other reviews who are obviously here to talk trash. Notice how none of them are verified owners. You may be paying a price premium to get this laptop, but you won't get the problems that plague other brands like lackluster driver support and overheating.

2 out of 5 eggsYes

Pros: An OK laptop all around

Cons: The thing everyone keeps mentioning which is the heavy apple tax. But that's to be expecting from this website because 99% of people around here are building their own computers for 1/2 the price of this thing and double the performance.

Other Thoughts: I honestly just looked these up to see people talk trash about them haah.

3 out of 5 eggsSeriously?

Pros: Its a mac, prestige, looks, w/e else is associated with the mac name.
Stable, simple to use operating system.
lots of apps
battery life
Good Digital Audio Codec (DAC) for clean sound.

Cons: price, duh
graphics card cannot handle resolution spec whatsoever, if you have any knowlege at all about graphic cards, you'd know the gtx 650 mobile is low end by today's standards for laptops in this price range.
If you seriously think this is one of the best laptops out there, in this price range, you are either a serious computer noob that grew up with apple or just some clueless consumer with money to spend that's heavily influenced by friends. Like all these other reviewers that think they are getting
true 2800x1800p

Do yourself a favor, search up other laptops in this price range, and you'll see a beastly processor, a beastly SSD, a beastly graphics card, best of all, it wont even cost as much as this, the secret is to buy laptops with good hardware, and install the operating system of your choice on it. YES you can have IOS on a stronger reliable laptop thats cheaper than this laptop even after adding the cost of the IOS.

Other Thoughts: got this for my wife, was thoroughly not impressed at all. besides the battery life, operating system and mediocre SSD and the so called Retina screen which is a major marketing gimmick, like peak power vs RMS true power ratings in car audio. Nothing from this laptop warrants the 2.6k price tag, its worth at most 1.6k from the hardware and software.

Remember, Just because its from apple, doesn't make it the best item on the market. Like bose and beats by dre audio, overmarketed, over-hyped by people. REMEMBER people are VERY biased towards the product that they shelled out thousands of dollars for, they will never admit that its a mediocre product because it will just make them look silly(in they minds)

1 out of 5 eggsWorst macbook currently available.

Pros: Screen color/brightness. Powerful hardware. Good keyboard and trackpad. Nice looking design.

Cons: One of the worst computers I have ever owned. Feels like an early Windows Vista machine. Got this from work shortly after getting a 2012 Macbook Air.

There is noticeable lag when scrolling in browsers, and the general performance of the machine seems slower than my significantly less powerful Macbook Air. Any picky computer user will notice this immediately. The performance should be flawless given the hardware, but it looks like Apple's idiotic full-screen scaling solution does not work nearly as well as Windows text DPI scaling.

The machine has a tendency to go into standby at random. I'll just be sitting here typing and next thing I know, the screen goes black. I have to fiddle with it for a while, often upwards of 30 seconds in order to get it to come back to the login screen. Numerous system updates have not resolved the issue at all.

The battery life is TERRIBLE. Nearly any application you can open will lock the dedicated graphics card on, thus reducing battery life to less than 2 hours in many cases. I have basically no choice but to use a 3rd party tool to force the system to always use the integrated intel graphics chipset in order to maintain any sort of decent battery life.

The machine is assembled poorly compare to other Macs. When I got it, the base would constantly creak whenever I picked it up or moved it on my lap. This was extremely distracting. After reading about it online, I purchased a pentalobe screwdriver (really, Apple, what is this 1985?), and tightened up the base. Now it still creaks, just not as badly.

Lastly, my power adapter failed after about a month. Same thing happened with my new Macbook Air. This makes no sense because I used an old Macbook Pro for 4 years without any power adapter issues.

Other Thoughts: The retina display is a very poor implementation that leaves much to be desired. I would rather have a traditional high resolution screen instead of this buggy, slow, scaled hack. I can't believe Apple released a machine this awful. This machine alone has made me start looking into Windows laptops again.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible

Pros: Light, portable, battery life

Cons: Slower than 1000 dollar Windows laptop. High res screen is useless because the built in card is junk for how much you are paying and can't keep up. Less upgradeable then PC laptops. Apple often solders hardware onto the motherboard. The parts that you can change like SSD will void warranty if you do so.

If you want a proper unrestricted OS that has lots of software available and is compible with more external devices you'll have to dual boot Windows also so there's another 100 or so dollars. My printer won't work with mac OS X :(

Other Thoughts: I bought into the Apple hype but should've thought about it more rationally. For what you pay its not really worth it IMO.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: -2880x1800 display
-Thin + Lightweight
-SSD, Samsung PM830 controller. VERY FAST SSD.
- Intel Quad-core i7-3615??
-Nvidia GT650
-Very comfortable keyboard + backlight!
-Awesome trackpad
- 6 to 8 hours on battery on a medium workload.

Cons: -Price?? Debatable, since this is the only 2880x1800 display you can get right now.
-Soldered RAM
-Will void warranty if replacing the SSD.

Other Thoughts: Love this computer. The display is simply amazing, especially looking at websites such as The Verge and for looking at videos and photos. I use it for school (overkill right??). I'm a computer engineer major at NC state. I chose this computer because the design and simplicity is unparalleled by any other manufacturers. Recommended!

I bought this computer from Apple directly.

Pros: Good looking laptop supper fast

Cons: price, no upgrade, all ram ssd and bat is built to the PCB,MB

Other Thoughts: LCD is the WoW nice. now the MB has 8gb ram on it you can not add more if you need more ram get the mac with 16GB. Ram and GPU are integrated to the PCB/MB this is not good. If the ram or gpu go out you will be buying a new mac. GL on this mac

5 out of 5 eggschrisheets, help for you

Pros: Phenomenal piece of hardware for what it is and what it does.

Cons: The price, although it is completely dependent on hardware, Apple always puts the highest quality and most efficient pieces of hardware together, is too expensive for most to afford.

Other Thoughts: chrisheets, for what you received you paid a more than a fair price. The memory you are talking about using up is actually RAM memory (temporary memory used by the CPU for running programs) and can be upgraded from 8GB to 16GB, the max amount for this computer, for less than $100. The memory space that you use for your data (or in your case photographs) is the hard drive. The one you have is actually 512GB SSD hard drive (the cheapest SSD or HDD of that size is roughly $400), which leaves you plenty of room to save and edit photographs. I mean no disrespect with this post, as I could not begin to educate anyone on photography, I just thought you should be aware of what you actually purchased.
