Apple MacBook Pro ME864LL/A 13.3in. Laptop with Retina Display

It is loaded with advanced power management features and an integrated lithium polymer battery, which work together to provide up to nine hours of wireless web browsing.

  • 2.4GHz Intel Core i5 Dual-Core (Haswell)
  • 4GB of Onboard 1600MHz DDR3L RAM
  • 128GB PCIe-Based Flash Storage
  • Integrated Intel Iris Graphics
  • 13.3in. LED-Backlit IPS Retina Display
  • 2560 x 1600 Native Resolution
  • 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0
  • Thunderbolt 2, USB 3.0, HDMI
  • FaceTime HD Camera, Dual Mics
  • Mac OS X Mavericks

This version of the 13.3in. MacBook Pro with Retina display (model ME864LL/A) features a 2.4GHz Core i5 dual-core processor, 128GB of flash storage, and 4GB of onboard RAM.

It's powered by OS X Mavericks, the world's most advanced operating system and built to bring out the best in your Mac. And the MacBook Pro comes pre-loaded with the latest version of the iLife software suite (iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand) as well as the iWork productivity suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote).

The system is powered by a dual-core 4th generation Haswell 2.4GHz Intel Core i5 processor. The 4th-gen Haswell processor uses low voltage for improved battery life without sacrificing performance. The MacBook Pro with Retina Display also has 4GB of onboard 1600MHz DDR3L RAM, 128GB of PCIe-based flash storage and a SDXC media card slot. You'll be able to connect to the Internet with fast-speed 802.11ac Wi-Fi. The MacBook Pro also supports a/b/g/n Wi-Fi networks as well. The MacBook Pro also features built-in Bluetooth 4.0, which allows you to connect wireless headphones, keyboard, mice and other compatible peripherals without a hassle.

Retina Display

The 13.3in. display of this MacBook Pro features over five million pixels. The pixel density is so high your eyes won't be able to discern individual pixels. Now with a 2560 x 1600 native resolution, you can see more of your high-resolution images onscreen with pixel-for-pixel accuracy. The Retina display also reduces glare while maintaining incredible color and quality. In fact, it has a 29% higher contrast ratio than a standard MacBook Pro display. Deeper black levels and vibrant color, everything is rich and beautiful. IPS technology gives you a wide, 178-degree view of everything on the screen, so you'll see the difference at practically any angle

Fourth-Generation Intel Core Processor

Since OS X is designed to take advantage of each core, the fourth-generation Intel Core i5 dual-core processor (based on the latest Haswell architecture) captures every bit of performance from the processor. When you need more power for a processor-intensive application like Aperture or Final Cut Pro, Turbo Boost 2.0 automatically increases the speed of the active cores. And by shifting core frequency in small increments, Turbo Boost allows the processor to manage performance without sacrificing efficiency.

This model features a 2.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 2.9GHz. It's complemented by Intel Iris integrated graphics, which can boost performance by up to 90% (over the previous generation MacBook Pro with Retina display) — so it can handle both everyday tasks and graphics-intensive creative apps.

All Flash Storage

This MacBook Pro feels incredibly fluid and responsive. It's all thanks to its PCIe-based flash storage, which gives you up to 60% faster read and write performance than its predecessor. When you use apps like Final Cut Pro or Aperture, you can perform even the most demanding tasks right from your internal storage. And since this MacBook Pro comes with 128GB of flash storage, you can keep all your important files with you, including large video and photo libraries. Flash doesn't have any moving parts, which makes it reliable and quiet. And flash storage is extremely energy efficient, which means your MacBook Pro also has the ability to stay in standby mode for up to a month without having to be plugged in .

802.11ac: The New Definition of Fast

The MacBook Pro now supports ultrafast 802.11ac Wi-Fi. When connected to an 802.11ac base station — including the AirPort Extreme and AirPort Time Capsule — wireless performance is up to three times faster than with the previous generation of MacBook Pro. And your Wi-Fi range improves as well.

The MacBook Pro with Retina Display also has dual USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI port and an SDXC card slot, you can build an entire professional studio with the MacBook Pro as its centerpiece.

Thunderbolt and USB 3

Delivering an amazing 10Gbps of transfer speeds in both directions, the ultrafast and ultraflexible Thunderbolt port allows you to move data up to 20 times faster than with USB 2.0 and more than 12 times faster than with FireWire 800. You can also daisy-chain up to six Thunderbolt-compatible peripherals without using a hub. Thunderbolt also supports DisplayPort for high resolution displays and works with existing adapters for HDMI, DVI, and VGA displays.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth the upgrade

Pros: Just upgraded from a 15" MBP from 2009, night and day difference in resolution and performance. I don't miss the optical drive and my SpiShutter still fits nicely to block my webcam when not in use.

Cons: Battery drains fast when running Windows in VMWare fusion pro 6.0 (there might be ways to optimize it in power management settings).
I also had to upgrade all my macbook power adaptors as the the new MBP uses a smaller version of magsafe connector.

3 out of 5 eggsMEH

Pros: vey Slim slim laptap and very light perfect for a person especially female to carry in there small michael Khor tote bag also very portable for any person to carry on them

Cons: way to expensive for what this laptop only has under the hood
u paying more just for the look/design/brand
the specs on this laptop is poop compared to other pc models out there that pack double even triple the memory and hardware for the price!

Charger Broke on me after a lil over a month had to go out and buy another 80$ for a charger heard and read reviews that the chargers have a 6 month life span not cool!

Other Thoughts: this is a nice sexy slim laptop but i dont see worth the price of paying so much money for a laptop that only carries 4gb of ram and not even 200 gb of Storage not cool!

charger broke after a lil over a month of use wouldnt return it to the store since it passed its marking period for returns
i read online that the average life span for this charger is 3-6months so dont be surpised to shell out 80$ plus tax on it every couple of months and so.
thats apple ways of getting more money !

onl reason why i bought this was for my wife since she is a collage student so she can take her laptop with her to school since its extremly light and portable in her small tote bag which actually fit. but not worth the price in my opnion your just paying more for the design/ brand

if you dont mind spending a lot of money on something just to carry around with u and money isnt really an issue than go ahead but if your just going to use the laptop at home than look else where u can get way way better specs even triple the specs for the same price. maybe even less if u really look
