4 out of 5 eggsAll the trouble still worth it

Pros: -Excellent gaming performance for the money. One of the best bang for the buck laptops out there, if not the best. Plays Crysis on high to very high graphics with average 20-30 FPS. Also plays CoD Modern Warfare on max graphics and reso like butter(40+FPS).

-If you are one of the lucky few to get one of the laptops made in the first batches, you get a 1920x1200 monitor which is absolutely beautiful with it's crisp viewing. Otherwise you get a 1600x1200.

-Once all the kinks are worked out with the Operating System, this is the perfect gaming laptop.

-Lots of expansion ports for you media people out there

-Great sound compared to alot of laptops currently being sold.

Cons: -Vista is absolute trash, and that's from a professional standpoint. I don't know what Microsoft was thinking releasing an Operating System with this many bugs. I had to pull so many strings and jump through so many hoops just to start playing games on this system, it took my entire weekend to get it running decently. The UAC is a nightmare, conflicting administrative privilages(your an admin but not really), corrupt system files causing the laptop to freeze, incompatible software out the wazoo, etc... I mean 3 years in and were still having these issues with the Operating System. And Gateway doesn't offer XP drivers for this laptop, so your stuck with Vista. I wouldn't mention this if you weren't stuck with it, because if you buy this laptop your going to run into these things. Vista is the only reason I didn't give it 5 Eggs.

-Gateways Online tech support is barely qualified to type on a keyboard, but their phone techs seem much better.

Other Thoughts: This is a continuation of the Cons:

-The laptop seems to be made for lefties, as the ethernet jack and one USB port is located on the right side, right next to where your mouse is. So if you ever have to use those ports, you wont be using a USB mouse. Least they could do is move those up, but they are right in the center.

-There's a total of 3 USB ports, like I said 1 is located in a useless position unless your a leftie. So you only really have two.

-This is a miner complaint but the shiny case of the laptop is a fingerprint magnet. You'll be cleaning that constantly if you are concerned about how it looks.

-The wireless switch is flimsy and sort of shoddy. It's loose and hard to move on and off. Doesn't really click when it's in position.

Other thoughts:

-Battery life is about 2 hours on low performance, and about 30 minutes playing games.

Overall, it's a good laptop and I would make the purchase again. But that's only because I was able to work through the Vi

5 out of 5 eggsReally enjoying this computer...

Pros: It runs quietly and doesn't get too hot. I yet haven't had much time to test various programs on it, but I played Fallout 3 for several hours on the highest setting without a hiccup, so it seems to be a solid mid-range gaming machine. I didn't expect to find this much computer for under $2,000!

Cons: The shiny, shiny shell shows every fingerprint and scratch. Also, with the orange, black and grey color scheme, it kinda looks like a Halloween decoration. It's not the prettiest critter.

Other Thoughts: It's too big to fit in a regular laptop case, but it's a gaming rig, so that's to be expected. A lot of the online reviews of this model slagged on the screen, but personally, I can't see much practical difference between it and laptops with higher native resolutions - it looks good to me.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat !

Pros: Very quick, games look great so far! not a bad computer at all especially for the price. Can deff. tell if it is the internet acting up because thats the only way this bad boy slows down.

Cons: No Cons at all so far !

Other Thoughts: People say gateways arent any good. But with this model they did a great job and i would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good gaming computer but also a computer that is mobile, and for everyday use !

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: Quad core, DDR3, 9800 GTS video, and a low price. This series, the FX series, is top of the line high quality at a low price.
You will not find anything like this from another company, unless your willing to pay 4k plus.

Cons: No cons

Other Thoughts: I have the 6860 FX version of this. They come with a 2nd open hard drive bay and you can upgrade the processor later on down the line, thus extending its life.
The FX series is hands down the best on the market right now.
