Toshiba's Satellite notebook computers have long been a favorite of the business community and the A205 is no exception. Powered by a Pentium Dual-core Processor running at 1.86GHz it has plenty of power to handle everything you ask of it without sucking your battery dry. It comes with 2GB of DDR2 memory so you can have multiple windows open without slowing the system down.
The 15.4" screen is powered by a mobile Intel GMA X3100GPU and has a 1280x800 resolution. This lets it natively support 720p HD resolution. You can hook the notebook to an external display source with either a D-Sub or an S-Video connection.
Connectivity in the business world is important. That's why Toshiba equipped the A205 with a generous selection of options including 4xUSB2.0, 1xFireWire and an ExpressCard slot. There is also an Atheros 802.11b/g wireless LAN connection, a modem and a fast Ethernet port. A built in webcam and microphone let you take advantage of the connections to hold or attend video conferences.
Only three minor complaints
Pros: Value of hardware for the price can't be beat; fast and efficient processor that doesn't run too hot.
Cons: My only complaint about this laptop is that I bought it to connect to a DLP projector and external sound rack for multimedia presentations. Unlike all prior laptops I've bought, the VGA connector is on the left side instead of the rear, the sound jack is in the front instead of the side, and when switching between video files (divx in wmp) you can hear an audible "thump" from the sound which my previous Dell laptop did not do. Either way, I can live with these little shortcomings, even if my cables are routed oddly (especially the sound cable). Just remember, with almost any laptop you buy, there will be bloatware on it. Make sure you uninstall a lot of it to get th full potential of your lappy.
Other Thoughts: The case shows fingerprints pretty badly. Keep a cloth handy.

Pros: Terrific speed of processor. We knew we would get some software choices with the product, but were surprised at how much and at the quality.
Cons: It wasn't clear at first that there was a switch to access our wireless network. I still don't know why there is a switch???

Great Student Laptop
Pros: I just purchased this laptop as a present for my niece that just started college and is not too familiar with computers. It has everything she will ever need. Fast processor, nice size ram, big hard drive, great display with built in camera. Wireless internet, dvd burner and it's a very nice looking product. I have a Dell and thought about giving her mine and keeping this one.
Cons: My only disappointment is the fact that it doesn't come with MS Office but for the price it can't be beat. Other then that it's, in her words "awesome".

Pros: This laptop is better than my last one, faster, still a great toshiba product. Tech support is excellent and 24 hour. 3rd toshiba laptop, 1st one was second hand to me and it was a 333mhz with 96 mb of ram and windows 2000 pro
Cons: DVD player didn't work at first but tech support was very helpful and able to resolve my problem
Other Thoughts: Scroll doesn't work on mouse pad but not a big deal.
