5 out of 5 eggsTOSHIBA Satellite L305

Pros: Loved this Lap top, served well and reliable.

Cons: Never cared for Visa, way to controlling with too many nag screens.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat computer, a few quirks

Pros: Cheap, fairly fast, lots of memory. It was one of the best quality laptops at the price range at the time.

Cons: Only a few. Fingerprint magnet. But the greatest con was the resolution going up to only 1280x800. Wish it could be higher.

No software CD's!! That's alright, I stripped it as soon as it came in and put Vista Ultimate on it.

Other Thoughts: I think it was a great computer for the price. But I would hold out on buying this computer and look for ones with free Windows 7 upgrades.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Work Laptop

Pros: Everyone knows Toshiba for laptops. Excellent, very little bloatware, in fact I would say nearly non-existent. Worked right out of the box, very fast, upgraded to sp2 for vista, came with free upgrade to Win7. Would Recommend this and any of the satellite family.

Cons: None for now

Other Thoughts: It should come with a core 2 duo but the dual pentium is very fast.

4 out of 5 eggsCheap, but reliable

Pros: Bought it for the office, cheap, looks nice when clean, doesnt run hot, light and battery life is pretty descent.

Cons: The glossy finish picks up stains very easy, also the plastic looks a little bit cheap, especially edges.

5 out of 5 eggsLove It

Pros: Great laptop. Bright screen, webcam, microphone, card reader, all built in.

Cons: Like everyone else says, Vista.. but its working for all I need. Screen resolution, but it is business graphics...

Other Thoughts: Got this as a development machine to carry with me as I travel and RV. Loaded all my development stuff, including MSSQL and MySQL, Visual Studio and a bunch more tools. Runs about 25% CPU and 50% memory usage... even with a bunch of windows open. Very functional for what I wanted.

4 out of 5 eggsNice with Caveats

Pros: Nice looking laptop with a great feeling keyboard, 3GB RAM, nice LCD, virtually silent fan -- the quietest fan I've ever had in a laptop.

Webcam, built-in mic, card reader, etc. Great value for $449 for a 15.4" machine.

Toshiba had all XP drivers handy so I was able to wipe Vista and install XP. (Must disable AHCI in Bios SATA setting to do this, or it won't boot from a CD. Choose Compatible mode.)

Cons: Mouse pad not inset, so it was difficult to get used to finding the edge for scrolling. Prefer a smooth pad verses the rough texture (it needs this to give it a different tactile feel from the smooth wrist rest so you can find it).

No N support for wifi.

Intel GMA graphics card softw is substandard, imo, for tweaking display settings. Default display settings good for movies but washed out for every day work, so create a warmer profile and save the scheme to switch back and forth between the two. (If you do this, you don't have to tilt your screen back, like some people did to "fix" the "washed out" look.) Unfortunately, the gamma setting is already close to 0 (zero) and can't be adjusted down, so you have to make it warmer by adjusting brightness and contrast only... like trying to adjust EQ with a 2-band equalizer. But you can get it decent... it's just not a good graphics card/sftw combo for tweaking. nVidia is my choice.

Other Thoughts: The display does look nice once you adjust the screen settings. The quality/technology behind the LCD is what makes it.

Could not get it to play streaming video smoothly on battery power, however, despite a Full Power power scheme. If you have this problem running XP, go to Device Mgr --> right-click on the Atheros WiFi Adapter --> Advanced tab --> highlight "Power Save Mode" from the list of features, and change its Value field from "Normal" to "Off."

I actually bought an Acer 4530-6823 14" after I got this Toshiba, with AMD CPU and nVidia graphics. But I can't seem to let this Toshiba go either... I was going to sell it but decided to keep it. It really is a nice quality machine and looks good, despite the lame Intel GMA graphics sftw.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price

Pros: Worked right out of the box, no problems, boots up quickly

Cons: Bundled junk and trial software, somewhat tricky getting the wireless networking started. Vista is the biggest drawback.

Other Thoughts: I'd buy it again and already recommended it to friend who bought one

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Speed; features; price

Cons: slightly washed-out display;no distinct border around touchpad;a little heavy

Other Thoughts: Very good computer for a great price. The speed for normal applications is great, and the price was excellent ($449, free ship). Does everything I need more than competently. Minor gripes: display is not as sharp or clear as my 2.5 year old Sony Vaio, it's a little washed-out looking; there is no distinct border around the touchpad which takes some getting used to; it's a little heavy. Again, these gripes are minor, and the Toshiba handles all my jobs with ease at a GREAT price. I would definitely recommend this machine.

5 out of 5 eggsSweet Computer

Pros: The Price
No S/H
No Tax
You cant even but a comparable computer cheaper on yhr auction site that rhymes with seebay. Gladd I came accross Newegg. I found this computer on sale, but when I wanted to buy it, the sale ended. I joined the Newegg mailing list and within a week it was on sale again. This is a great laptop. Sure beats my Dell 1701.

Cons: Are you kidding ? I mean theres no tax, Free S/H

Other Thoughts: I love Newegg - Don't know how they do it at these prices.
