1 out of 5 eggshorrible

Pros: Nice speakers and graphics.

Cons: Slower than a dual core computer. Has had issues with random shutdowns like while bootup or while in use. Sent it to Toshiba for repair 5-7 times. Issues always reappear in less than a day or month. They've replaced the systemboard, flashed the bios. Still no solution. Sometimes receive the product back in a worse condtion(Usb ports dead, or still having the same issue). Wait about 1 month for repair. Fan runs hard while just booting up. I use this computer for Flash. Now that its past warrenty, Toshiba demands you to pay $30 beforehand before sending it in. (Even if you change your mind and don't want to send it they will still charge you). Not to mention that they can't fully fix it. The latest problem that has popped up is that my internet adapter has disappeared off device manager while It was in use. Internet started acting slow and I tried turning it off and on with the on keyboard button. There is no opening where you can try reinserting the internet adapter.

Other Thoughts: I will never buy a Toshiba Computer again.

Pros: Not much

Cons: Slower than my dual core computer. Loud fan even when just booting up. Has issues like random shut downs and other issues. Have sent it in for repair to toshiba 5-7 times(Meaning long waits before it comes back again). After coming back issues occur within 1 days or a month. They never fully even resolved the issue. Now warrenty is over Toshiba wants you to pay for shipping and will charge you $30 dollars if you don't ship it to them or if they can't repair it even(they charge you beforehand). Issues keep appearing with this comptuer till the point the internet adapter has disappeared off the device manager. There is no place to open it up to access the internet adapter to try to reinsert it.

Other Thoughts: I will never buy a Toshiba computer again

5 out of 5 eggsVery good laptop!

Pros: I did ALOT of research when debating a quadcore laptop. I ALMOST got the HP quadcore until I saw this jewel.

Pound for pound dollar for dollar you cannot beat it. As with every laptop and even Macbook-if you dont take care of it, it will die. dedicated graphics and i7 is ANYONEs dream!

Cons: Battery life COULD be a little better, but then again if I wanted battery life then I would get a netbook.

Other Thoughts: Very surprising that it plays high end games such as need for speed, COD and BC2 with no flaws as long as you have the 64 bit version of Windows 7.
I rated it a 5 because simply an i7 with dedicated 1 gig of graphics in a laptop package!

5 out of 5 eggsEggcellent

Pros: It's an eggcellent laptop for the price, I got it for my college bound daughter and she LOVES IT. I am jealous enough to get one for myself, some day when she gets out of college and before my son goes to college, maybe. LOL

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: NewEgg is the premier site for all your computer and electronics purchases.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop, beware smart buttons

Pros: This laptop is fast, runs fairly cool, and has a very nice hardware layout. Chiclet style keyboard provides ample finger room for typing, plus a numerical keypad for those who like having those (I certainly do). The screen is bright and clear, with decent resolution. I don't use this machine for gaming, nor would I try to, but the graphics are more than sufficient for watching HD mkv files and full-blown BD rips on vlc player.

Cons: The only con I encountered was with the "smart" buttons above the keyboard. They are meant to provide one touch access to enable and disable certain functions, one of which is the wireless NIC. I accidentally pressed it, but my OS (windows 7) didn't show the NIC as "disabled", but rather indicated that no wireless networks were available. Since the "smart" button doesn't turn off (it's backlit) when it's respective function is disabled, I had no idea I had pressed it. Only once I had spent half an hour trying to figure out what was wrong with my wireless router did it occur to me to try to touch the "smart" button, which fixed my problem.

Other Thoughts: The "smart" button issue is a minor one, and the sort of thing that you won't forget once you learn it the first time. That being the case, I no longer consider it a true "con", rather a design quirk that I wouldn't have chosen to implement in that way had I designed it myself. Therefore, I fully recommend this laptop for any non-gamer looking for a fast, powerful laptop for general home/office productivity.

2 out of 5 eggs1 good, 1 bad...

Pros: Very Fast. Big roomy keyboard for fast typing. Great looks. GREAT sound, really great. 1 click button disables the touchpad to help sloppy typers. The list goes on and on.

Cons: Bought 2. 1 had a failed internal network card, right out of the box. System absolutely will not even regognize it has one... tried with the Toshiba image thats on it, a fresh Windows 7 install with the lan driver loaded, and even an ImageX image from another A665 that fully functional... LAN is dead on this one. BOO.

Other Thoughts: Gave 2 eggs despite the RMA PITA I'm about to go through because these laptops are so nice, especially for the sale price I got them on Newegg. Even with a faulty one I'm not *THAT* disappointed so long as the replacement goes smoothly.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat compromise

Pros: Superb Core i7 processor, NVIDIA graphics card with 1GB of GDDR3 dedicated memory, weight under 6lb (5.8lb), quiet fan, build quality, overall aesthetic design.

Cons: Oversized and heavy power adapter, batter life (although it’s expected).

Other Thoughts: This is a very capable machine. I got this computer after an exhaustive online research. It’s a great compromise between high end gaming machines that you’d have to pay extra $1000 and computers with underpowered graphics cards. I did a lot of comparisons between NVIDIA vs. ATI graphics cards and the conclusion was that Core i7 processor irons out any disadvantages that NVIDIA (allegedly) have when compared to ATI.

Games like Gears of War, CrysisWARHEAD, Halo 2, F.E.A.R, Fallout.3-RELOADED, Grand Theft Auto IV, FarCry 2 ran without any lag on 1920x1080 resolution and medium high settings with the notebook connected to 42” HD television via RGB cable. Very impressive. While some gaming aficionados might put on their snobby hats, to me this was a gaming heaven. I'm heading to a store to buy more games.

2 out of 5 eggsNice when working

Pros: The specs are great. The price was great. Runs pretty cool.

Cons: Opened box and noticed two keys unattached. pressed them down and one stayed, the other didnt. support wants me to send my only computer back to them for weeks to replace a key? This is annoying.

Machine wouldnt start out of the box, flashing cursor. One battery pull later it starts up, takes forever to boot, then seems to work fine. Though every couple days the machine freezes and upon restart will not boot again without pulling the battery. Updated Nvidia drivers from toshiba website. No change.

Im done with this. Its brand new, arrived not working, Ive spent enough time screwing with it. Returning it.

Other Thoughts: First newegg purchase, possibly the last.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Desktop Replacement

Pros: i7 Processor
Nvidia GPU
Doesn't attract fingerprints!
Sound system

Cons: Touchpad has a nice feel but is a little to far to the left for my taste.
Wish it had more than 3 USB ports although the E-SATA port is a plus

Other Thoughts: I bought this at (Newegg competitor "M.C") as a used demo (hopefully avoiding the hardware failure issues that some have) for $799. So far it has been a great laptop (2 weeks) The i7 processor is great even though I wish I could set it to 2.80GHz permanently but I do like the fact that it constantly changes the power depending on what I'm doing.
Some people say the battery life is a con when it's their own fault for thinking a i7 laptop with a dedicated nvidia gpu will be able to last long on battery power. I personally got 1 hour playing WoW (which it handles flawlessly)
I bought this rig because I wanted the i7 and wanted to be able to play WoW and so far it hasn't disappointed me. If you are looking for a quality desktop replacement, you won't find a better deal on an i7 powered laptop at this point
