Great buy,But.....
- Pros: A vry nice laaptop for the money. Componenets are all good with a brught crytal display.
- Cons: Windows Vista OS is horrible to work with. So many things that worked fine with XP now struggle to work at all. One such thing is the extended desktop feature that could be used with the magnifier for eyesight impaired like myself....With Vista, I cannot get it to work with games and picyures. Queeries online lead to lists of FAQs, nowhere or a sight wanring a price per minute which will not fix softwares that do not interact properly.
Acer and Microsoft need to fix these things but I won't hold my breathe....
- Other Thoughts: New Egg gave me a great deal, and it their A-1 service that always sweetens any purchse,

- Pros: I don't expect I could have found a better deal / buy in the world, because I got it when it was $399.00. The quality in this machine for the price is incredible, it just can't be beat ! The Vista wasn't all that hard to handle at this price also, seeing that it is great eye candy when you add the extra GB of RAM, which I did. There are 2 x's 1GB of Samsung DDR2 667 in it and it runs sweet even with the Vista. Yes, I had to pare down the running processes to a more reasonable number, AND - I'm as happy as can be!
- Cons: It isn't really a con, BUT - I had trouble taking off the back enclosure to install more RAM..... BUT managed with a little patience. Would have been nice if SOMEONE gave us a hint as to what to expect when uncovering the back to get at it.
- Other Thoughts: At first when I noticed this buy at the egg, I wanted to pass it over because I wanted to wait and get an MSI Wind. Now I'm just glad common sense took over and I got th best dollar value in the world. Yah, I still want the Wind..... BUT - there is NO WAY it can touch this Acer!
Good value
- Pros: Super low price,free shipping,great design.Acer is a reliable computer company,this is my 4 laptop in 2 years I got for my clients.
- Cons: You'll not gonna go far with the 1Gb of memory installed so you have to order 2Gb along with this.Since there is a pair of 512mb installed you have to remove them both instead of adding another GB.Also the bottom cover is a kind of pain to remove.
Another annoyance is the hard drive division! Like is not enough you lose 10 some GB in the hidden partition,they made 2, 50GB partitions.WHY? After a year you'll end up with a cluttered C drive and an empty D drive. I know you can choose directory but you do a partition on a 500GB drive not a 100GB one.
Finally it only supports 2GB of memory,plenty for now but in a year or so.........!
- Other Thoughts: Overall a great value,if you want to have a descent computer for 3-4 years,install 2GB of memory,uninstall the demoware and programs you don't use,disable memory hogs applications from Vista like the sidebar and aero,also the e-power from Acer, keep up with the maintenance and keep it simple.This is not a gaming or video manipulation computer.
