2 out of 5 eggsSSD died after a few days use

Pros: lightweight, silent, battery life, SSD, great price

Cons: touch pad buttons are hard to push, SSD died after a few days use.

Other Thoughts: like some others here I had an issue with my SSD dying not a mere 3 days after receiving the unit. Laptop froze, had to hard shut down, went to boot and it acted like the Hard Drive didn't exist. Had to send it into Acer and it's going on 15 days since I sent it in and I haven't heard any updates as to estimated time of repair. All I'll get is an email saying their sending it back. To me that is not good customer service.

I don't know if I can blame the laptop exactly since this may be an issue with SSD's in general. I don't know but it's pretty hard to have confidence in a product that could just die at any time. I am probably going to sell it online when (if...) I get it back from Acer.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Laptop

Pros: Tiny, lightweight, good for bringing to coffee shops and school to study. Battery lasts a long time. SUPER fast response time with the SSD. The wife likes to play Shockwave games which tend to take up a bunch of CPU (surprisingly) but this guy runs them well. Even runs WoW.

Cons: The viewing angle of the screen seems a bit less than you would expect with laptops now days. So if you are planning on having multiple people look at the laptop at the same time this might lead to some issues. Acer programs/Backup Partition. I've never been a fan of backup partitions.

Other Thoughts: Bought this laptop for my wife. She loves it. Small compact and easy to take with her to school and back. Pretty much wherever she wants. With the Backup Partition, just format the drive or use diskpart.

5 out of 5 eggsGood value

Pros: - light weight
- LED screen: thin and good quality
- the battery does last ~8 hours
- overall build quality is high
- good speakers

Cons: - mouse button (it's a little hard to press with one hand, but still usable)

Other Thoughts: It runs very well with both Vista and Win 7 RC.

4 out of 5 eggspretty good for linux

Pros: Thin, lightweight, battery really does last a long long time, solid state drive makes lots of tasks much faster. Runs Linux pretty well.

Cons: There are a few rough edges with Linux support. I am running Ubuntu 64 9.04.
- Suspend doesn't work, but hibernate is fast enough with the ssd to be a good alternative
- The processor supports hardware virtualization, but like many computers lately, it is turned off in the bios with no option to turn it back on.
- Ethernet port needs a special driver, but thats simple to install.
- Before wiping, I had to burn my own restore disks, which also meant buying an external USB cdrom drive. It would have been nice if the restore utility allowed the making of a restore USB drive.

Other Thoughts: I'm happy with it overall and its lightweight and portability really help me be productive anywhere I want to be. Lost one egg due to these Linux issues. Vista did run well enough on it. I may give 7 a go once that is out.

5 out of 5 eggsAwwwwSome

Pros: SSD + dual core + DDR3 4gb < $800 ????? what can you possibly ask more???? Oh! did I mention that it comes with bluetooth, wireless-N, and long battery life? I mean really really LONG battery life.

Cons: Somewhat weightier than I thought.

Other Thoughts: Warning label says it's going to take about 30 min to boot on for the very first time. That seemed agreeable from my experience with Microsoft. It actually took less than 3 min to log in for the first time.

5 out of 5 eggsGuaranteed to make you smile :)

-A million times faster than my old laptop, it literally took like 10min to boot up lol!!
-Very Light
-My lap isn't burning!
-Overall computer features

Cons: -Yea the glossy keys make for fingerprints, but it isn't that big of a deal
-What is using up my hard drive space?? I'm not techy so I don't know how to free up disk space other than uninstalling programs
-I knew there was no optical drive and I didn't care until I went to make my recovery disk! I don't know why I can't just send the info to an external hard drive rather than a DVD. Anywho, I do plan on getting an external drive...I will need one for my windows 7 upgrade.

Other Thoughts: I am really satisfied with this laptop. I don't really know the advantage of having the SSD. I read reviews saying that it was better. I mainly use this computer for internet. So the disk space wasn't an issue.

Keyboard is easy to use makes typing much faster
Stays Cool for the Most Part
Gesture Touchpad (Some people may have a hard time getting used to it)
Dolby Sound effects are Cool really sounds like there is some soundcoming behind u
Bootup Speed is Fast

Cons: even Though sound effects r cool the speakers are not that loud... nothing really else

Other Thoughts: So the when i recieved the computer it said it came with only 60gb.... and could not find any partion drive until I looked in the disk management and there shows to volumes... (1)60gb.. (2)14gb... the problem is it says the 14gb volume has a 100 percent free space but cannot seem to access it if someone can help please let me know... 2 out of 5 eggsGreat while it lasted

Pros: Great design, loaded with features, 8 hour real world battery life.
SSD drive boots and runs extremely fast.
Wireless is terrific. Card reader actually fully houses the SD Cards.

Cons: LED Backlight died on me after less than two weeks of use.

Other Thoughts: I manage a PC sales and repair center, believe me I take AMAZING care of my equipment. For the LED backlight to just up and fail one day while sitting in a climate controlled room? Come on. Quality control exists for a reason. (I'm looking at you Acer)

4 out of 5 eggsSimply Stunning

Pros: 1. SSD rocks. I installed Visual Studio Team System 2008 in less than 20 minutes
2. Super light-weight
3. Plenty of speed. Visual Studio is the most demanding app I've run and it handles it well.
4. Battery life.

Cons: 1. Touchpad is disappointing compared to my Macbook. The multi-touch and gestures are not very fluid. Maybe this will be better when I move to Windows 7.
2. Touchpad buttons are a bit recessed, hard to push.
3. I would prefer a non-glossy keyboard.

Other Thoughts: Don't be worried about the 1.4 Ghz processor, it's plenty fast. Other than gaming, this laptop outperforms my 2.4Ghz Intel Quad Core with a decent platter hard drive.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: This laptop is great. It's like a nice cut of meat with all the fat cut off. Has just what it needs! Before buying this, the one thing I was scared of was the processor being too weak for the computer. Boy was I wrong, it keeps up just fine! The 4GB DDR3 ram is excellent and the 80gb SSD is just amazing. Boot times are seriously just about 20 to 25 seconds after installing Windows 7. The battery life is also rediculous. Used it the whole day without charging it!! Screen looks nice and crisp. I actually like the keyboard after getting used to it on the first day. The size and weight is great too.

Cons: The weak point is definitely the integrated video card. It's not made for gaming though so I'm not disappointed at all. The lid doesn't have a lock so it can kind of flop around a tad bit when closed. Sound and microphone are weak, no worries though.

Other Thoughts: I bought this strictly for portability. It does that PERFECTLY. Runs Microsoft Office and gets on the internet while having awesome battery life (actually gets a lil over 8 hours) so I can knock out as much college when I have free time away from my house. Thin and light, I can't complain.
