Excellent HD Laptop
- Pros: Amazing and high resolution. Nice keyboard. Excellent graphics. Vista on 64 bit runs efficiently well. Any downloads in HD look so crisp and the contrast is so vibrant, watching movies on a laptop will never be the same again! Look-wise, the laptop looks clean though the two hinges where the ac cord and ON button are located look like they may break easily.
- Cons: Touch pad is not as sensitive as I'd like and the 2 buttons can be quite loud. You would think that Sony makes decent speakers, but these speakers suck. Got this laptoop to upgrade from my dell inspiron 1505 and my dell had better speakers.
- Other Thoughts: I got this laptop mainly for watching movies and shows. The HDMI out connection is a great addition. Also, the processor is super smooth and can handle running multiple apps. The battery life for me on average dim settings is about 2 hours and 20 minutes.
Awesome laptop
- Pros: Sleek design, looks very sexy. Keyboard is reminiscent of the new macbook pro keyboard (without the backlighted keys though) which may be a pro for Apple junkies. High res screen, good graphics card and 4gigs ram, at a great price point.
Not much else to say. Battery life is 3.5 hours on a full charge (not sure if that's great). Ports are useful too (hdmi, media card reader). Didn't test out the wifi's range but its working great.
- Cons: Touchpad. Not too bad if you tweak the mouse speed/sensitivity settings in vista, the buttons also make a clicking sound. It's preloaded with all the Sony bloatware, which is normal.
Although it has fast specs, its still not a speed demon which I thought it would be. Boots to the login screen (vista) in 10-15 seconds, and takes vista 5-10 more seconds to finish starting all the processes. In Flash CS4 takes 3-5 seconds to start, so does Photoshop.
- Other Thoughts: Ubuntu driver compatibility sucks with this laptop. Ubuntu didn't detect a backlight. First laptop I've bought!

B-E-A-utiful!!
- Pros: -top notch build quality
-gorgeous screen (nice res 1600*900) -discrete graphics, ATI Mobilty HD 3650 -stable temps even under stress, (I'm pretty sure I see a massive heatsink behind the side vent!)
- Cons: -some junkware that initially slowed the computer (just use Ccleaner or something)
-although its 16", it feels a decent amount bigger and heavier than any 15.4" I've ever had, but not a problem for me, I use it at home!
- Other Thoughts: I've owned several other laptops and this is my first Sony, I've never before for the price, but the prices are more than reasonable now on some models and is definitely better than any HP, Dell, or Toshiba I've had!

Lovin' Sony
- Pros: Fast. Light. Great screen. Good battery life. I'm playing bigger 3D games, and it's running them great. Chokes on some smoke/fire scenes just a bit. But over all, GREAT gamer for <$1k. First Sony laptop, and I don't see this being my last. Can't beat the bang for your buck ratio on this laptop.
- Cons: USB ports. There are only 3, and they are RIGHT WHERE MY MOUSE GOES!! They are located on the right side of the laptop, right at the front. So, my mouse and headphone cords stick out right were I put my mouse (I'm right handed). BAD BAD port placement choice by Sony. That's why they lost an egg from me. Really, that's only worth half an egg, but that wasn't an option. So, they lost the full egg cause it's enough of a pain that I couldn't give it a 5.
- Other Thoughts: This was the first Sony I've used, and bought my wife an AW series. We've been die hard Dell users for years. Not regretting this purchase at all. Awesome price from NewEgg for a great laptop.
