Good Laptop For Price
- Pros: The features on this laptop for the price are excellent. Had no problems switching from Vista Home Basic Premium to Vista Ultimate, except for two which is in the cons section below. The screen is huge and minimum glare on it, excellent for movies or games. The other reviews say the Blueray drive is noisy and it is if you don't close the drive correctly. Just make sure to fully close the drive and it's pretty quiet, don't softly close it or it'll be loud. The fingerprint scanner is nice, it's my first one and it scans my fingerprint fast and accurately.
- Cons: To start off with, the power supply cord is kinda short and you can't find a longer one. I wanted an extra battery or the large capacity battery but I can't seem to find anywhere to buy them, not even on sonystyle.com. I installed Vista Ultimate and installed all the drivers from the Sony site but I still have one device being listed as "Unknown Device" in Device Manager and I can't figure out what it is, I seem to have everything installed and working. Also, I installed the Vaio System Tools package but that gives a battery error saying you have the wrong battery and the laptop goes into hiberate so you can put the right battery in, so don't install the System Tools package in Vista Ultimate. I'm having some issues with the wireless not working correctly too, I've had to reinstall the driver twice now to get it to correctly connect to the wireless networks.
- Other Thoughts: Besides the few errors I'm having with Vista Ultimate, which could be user error and not the laptop, this is a great laptop. The power cord should have been longer but it's manageable. Definitely worth the price considering the 18.4" screen and the HDD being 7200.
Great machine
- Pros: Big and nice screen, Blu-Ray, not heavy for it's size(my old 17" sony is heavier), Great sound, finger security, 512MB video, 4gb memory,full size keyboard,camera, Great design.
- Cons: None so far, just thoughts that from 250GB you'll actually have 194 gb available at the time of delivery, but you can save some by deleting some unnessesarry stuff. I tried to play BD movie and the computer was freezing the program(win dvd) 4 times before I finally was able to watch it(I don't know what was the cause-BD-Rom or disk) second movie it read without any problems.
- Other Thoughts: You'll get what you paid for. I got used to my A190 1200x1920 resolution so I was looking for quite some time before I found this model. Before this model came out I was sure I'll buy AR790 series with same specs and 1200x1920 resolution, as in my opinion, Sony making the best screens nowdays, but just before I bought that AW series came out with it's huge 18.4" and I sucrificed some dots for the size. Comparing them one to another by quality of colors made me to think of which one is better. Colors appering to be little bit different and truth to tell I am not sure which one has really true color.If you have a chance to look at AR 1920x1200 model consider it and check it out too before you'll buy this model. Don't buy one with Eco screen as you'll be dissapointed. This AW190 really worth every penny, I will reccommend this model to everyone.

I'm happy
- Pros: I got exactly what I was expecting. A big display, High def, a separate number keypad and hdmi out. Gets a lot of attention at airports.
- Cons: Battery life, need to install different software like Powerdvd if you want to play your BR's using HDMI out to a hdtv. Lots of Sony bloatware of course, Vista
- Other Thoughts: I was hesitant trying Vista for the first time because I haven't heard good things. There are a few areas i'm not happy with but overall it's not too bad.
Spend your cash on something else
- Pros: Looks really nice. The screen is the biggest "buzz" on this beast. But it pretty much ends there for me and this review.
Newegg refunded me the money back after I had two RMA's go bad.
- Cons: I bought 2 of these, one for me and one for my wife. She's a graphics consultant and I'm an IT consultant that plays with photoshop and 3ds max.
I spent 8 hours installing my apps, plugged in a usb mouse and the system froze up. Had to remove the battery to reboot the thing. After it came up there was a constant usb notification that I had plugged in something and then removed it. I had never plugged the mouse back in after it froze. I got this message about once every 30 seconds. I couldn't take it anymore, I couldn't use the speakers because of the annoying *ding* every 30 seconds.
I sent it back and got a replacement. New computer... new problem. Now after another 10 hours installing my apps the monitor (yes, the big pretty one) starts mooshing into nothingness. The picture goes away, I have no screen to speak of. This went on for a day or so until I pleaded my case with a newegg manager to get a refund.

- Other Thoughts: I'm going to be getting the ASUS M70 instead (newegg item# N82E16834220412). Much better reviews on that one for just a little more cash.
SONY HAS A HIT HERE
- Pros: Great prcessor, great video, Blu-Ray, Vista 64-bit, this system works great. Bought for my son Christmas 2008 and he is so happy. gaming has never been better, except he kills me in Madden 2008. Every inch a power house.
- Cons: As with most laptops, sound. However, we added some very small portable speakers and it was 100% better.
- Other Thoughts: Larger hard drive spinning at 7200 would be nice.
