Does this model have a lit keyboard and will I have to do a update on the hardware when after I purchase it, I saw where some had trouble with wi-fi until they did some type of update?

The keyboard is not lit. I always do the windows update manually with a new system. I had no problems but you have to go to windows update as soon as you get any new computer before you start using.. I was able to get on my wireless network right away before any updates..

Question 2

Does this laptop have USB 3.0?  Also, does it have a second slot available to install a second stick of RAM?  Does it support Dual Channel memory?

It does have USB 3.0 however what sucks is that i found out from sony that there is only 1 slot cause i was gonna get 1 more 4GB stick of ram for 8Gb. So iwas upset about that cause i have to get 8GB now and it costs 100$ for an 8Gb stick of ram on ebay. So this ram is expensive. So im sticking with 4Gb for now. This is a very good laptop though. I use it primarily for minecarft and steam and i get around 100 fps on minecraft so its good. I hope this helps.

it has 4 USB ports 2 or 3.0 and 2 are 2.0. it does have one sd slot

How long of battery life does this computer get? Any problems?

I have been using it for long periods at a time. Web searches, music and photo applications and I have been getting a minimum of 3 hours before I need to think of charging it. No problems as of yet with battery life.
