3 out of 5 eggswhat a sleek pain in the patooty

Pros: It's lightweight and looks quite nice. It's easier to figure out Windows 8 than reviews I had read, which was a relief. When it works properly, it is sleek, fast, and a great laptop! Good to watch TV shows and movies on, and photos look great on it.

Cons: What a pain in my patooty! The mouse has a mind of its own and jumps to other screens regularly, and has stopped working a number of time. I've then had to restart the laptop; far too often I find myself restarting the laptop (for more than just the mouse). My biggest pet peeve is that the screen brightness adjusts on its own all the time. I set it, set my preferences, do some voodoo, and yet it still gets a mind of its own and goes darker on me (probably worsening my eyesight every second). The worst thing though is the fact that I've had to do 2 (yes TWO) full-system recoveries since purchasing the laptop 2 months ago, wiping clean and starting over each time. My coworkers think I bought a lemon. I defend it because I feel like it has redeeming qualities. But what a pain! I probably should have returned it in the first 30 days.

Other Thoughts: I'm stubborn to the fact that I researched this laptop and thought it would be the best for me. I'm determined to still make it so. Hope I don't feel defeated as much moving forward.

5 out of 5 eggsSecond Review

Pros: Lightweight 15" laptop, 1080p IPS screen is AMAZING, full-size components (2.5" HD, no dongles for ethernet, full size HDMI, very easy to upgrade RAM and HD), great backlit keyboard with number pad, trackpad functions well, although I had to roll back a driver update that messed it up. It was difficult to find all these things in a laptop.

Cons: Keyboard/Touchpad shifted left because of the number pad, battery life is decent but not great (i7 version), although the battery sheet is available if necessary. Not as sleek as my Series 9, but better specs and easier to upgrade.

Other Thoughts: I had major issues with the manufacturer, which scares me a little regarding future warranty support (hence my prior negative review-- manufacturer support is part of the product). However, I needed to upgrade and this was the best option, so I swallowed my pride and got it. I actually have the i7/1GB GPU version, but I wanted to even out my prior review as to not mislead my fellow Neweggers. The machine itself is excellent, and the important part of a laptop review is not processor and GPU (benchmarks can cover that better than anecdotal evidence anyway), but rather the screen, build quality, keyboard, etc. that you really need to experience to assess. If the i5/HD 4000 is enough horsepower for you, then you will love this laptop, provided you avoid having to deal with the manufacturer.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent!

Pros: This computer is everything I needed and more. I use it for watching movies, emailing and some gaming. It starts up fast, the screen is excellent and it has great battery life. I would highly suggest others to look at this computer.

Cons: The biggest con is Windows 8. I dislike it so much I am planning on ordering Windows 7 in the near future. This is not the fault of the laptop so I did not deduct an egg for it.

As for the laptop itself:
The touchpad buttons are built into the touchpad itself. Other then that I have no other complaints.

Other Thoughts: Shipping to APO's is never ideal. I noticed on the confirmation email that Newegg did not post my units name on the address. I sent an email to Newegg's customer support and had an email back within an hour informing me that the unit's name was placed on the shipping label. Newegg's customer support is very good and I won't think twice before using them again. I had my package in hand in 6 days which is very fast for shipping to Afghanistan. Thanks a ton Newegg!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Colorful hi-res IPS screen
very lightweight, elegant construction

Cons: - I'm looking for an 86 key board option,
left hand does not have enough surface to rest comfortably on this current keyboard;

- would prefer a touch pad with the physical click buttons;

- not easily replaceable battery

5 out of 5 eggsLaptop

Pros: Pretty speedy machine. Has 2 power setting that are a slider above the keys. Runs Win8 64-bit no problem. Built in Wi-Fi is very fast. Touchpad is HUGE thus making gestures easy. Love that it is a slot load DVD drive vs. a tray; hate those.

Cons: Screen/lid is very thin. Yeah I get that that's the point of being light weight and all but you need to open it up from the center or both corners or you get a lot of flex, near scary amounts of flex.

Other Thoughts: Bought for wife for school. She starts in a few days so we will see how it goes. :-)

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

Pros: Great size, feels sturdy, love the keyboard and num pad, backlight is great and the things looks hot:)

Cons: Wouldn't mind if the Blu Ray Codec came on a disk or you could get a product code with the laptop. I rebuilt my machine from the ground up when I got it (added more ram, a 256 gig SSD and win 7 Enterprise) and would have liked to be able to have the original Blu Ray capability the unit shipped with.

Other Thoughts: At the other person, who tried to buy this from a different site and wrote a 1 egg review here - Why? lol. This is a top notch machine, no need to write a scathing review just because you weren't able to get one.

My machine is a higher end unit than this one but essentially the same, can't go wrong here:)

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible Customer Service

Pros: Great specs. Exactly what I wanted.

Cons: Ordered directly from the manufacturer because of a sale. Was never able to get it. Begged customer service to keep my money and let me have the laptop, but to no avail. Now imagine if you actually need help or a refund...

Other Thoughts: Guess I'll wait a few more months for a lightweight, 15", 1080p laptop with a backlit keyboard from another vendor. Another example of CS dragging down the product itself.
