4 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Have had it well over a year now and still runs like a brand new laptop. Runs rather cool for a laptop.

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggsOveral good laptop

Pros: i5 Processor, 2GB video Card, 6GB memory, 2 USB 3.0's with cover, HDMI (with same cover), long battery life (when idling), WiMax equip, 750GB 2.5" HDD.

Fairly small, I can carry this thing almost everywhere with me.

Cons: 6GB ram, a 4 and a 2 stick, each designed to be ran in parallel. The sticks also have low timing. Would have been nice if this cost $30 more and had 16GB.

The single USB 2.0 on the right side broke. Internal junk now rattles around.

Low battery life when running the processor above 50%. Also gets really hot, up to 85+ degrees.

Single fan cooling everything, this makes it near impossible to control it as MSI Afterburner and Speed Fan are designed to control item specific fans and neither recognizes the one installed.
(technically I can choose between active and quiet fan speed but the fan still runs less than 75% at 85 degrees.)

The two back rubber feet fell off, one after 8 months, the other after 12.

WiMax seems cool but I have never been able to use it. Maybe in some locations but no where I've been to in California.

Internal battery, keyboard isn't backlit, wireless on/off button is too easy to hit, keyboard isn't replaceable, I can't take it apart w/o breaking case.

Other Thoughts: This has been my main computer for the last 13 months, runs Solidworks well and Minecraft without lag (most of the time).

When I first got this computer I initially thought it was defective because it lagged on the software I was using. Turns out that the windows 7 features uses hella CPU. Easy fix, just turn them ALL off.

Overall good computer, nocked I egg off due to Brocken USB, cheap ram, and anti fan control. Most cons are negligible.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat until the screen died just after the warranty

Pros: Nice chasis and keyboard. Instant on nice

Cons: Screen is dead after 4 months and refurbished warranty is only 90 days. Mouse pad is terrible and sends email inadvertantly.

Other Thoughts: Paid $550 for a piece of junk they claimed to have refurbished. No more Samsung for me.

5 out of 5 eggsAwsome Deal Awsome Notebook

Pros: Incredible price for a very nicely equipped notebook.
My reason for second review is to address Zach's idiotic Rant about the "recalled chipset". He is 100% WRONG, the notebook is of a current specification and is STILL BEING manufactured in the exact same specification and is still offered on the Samsung website as such. I don't think Samsung or Newegg needs to screw anyone to try to make a buck.

Cons: Not a one!

Other Thoughts: This is one hell of a great laptop/notebook for the money, it has been used consistently for a few months without any difficulties whatsoever. having been in business for a lot of years I know that you will NEVER make everyone happy and there are some real nuts out there....right Zach...

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Laptop!

Pros: - Great processor -- works quickly and fast.
- Close and Go, Open and Go. You can literally be off and on easily.
- Nvidia Geforce GT 520M works like a beast (not what I wanted to settle for) but plays most games that I enjoy on high to maximum setting.
- Battery Life -- literally 6 to 7 hours of just surfing the net.
- The 14 inch screen feels just right, and the size is perfect.
- Keyboard feels pretty good to type on.
- 2 USB 3.0s -- Awesome.

Cons: - Trackpad takes a little while to get used to. But once you do, it's pretty convenient.
- Fixed Battery (doesn't worry me yet, but it will once the laptop's battery starts to die).

Other Thoughts: I was excited to see the laptop come in like new (seriously, it was definitely new). However, the only issue that I've come across with this recertified unit is that the wireless card seems to drop from 5 bars of signal to 2~3 bars randomly (ruins my day when I'm trying to play a game online).

But there's no point in docking an egg for this problem. After all, it IS a recertified unit and I'm already planning on getting it serviced.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Buy

Pros: Slim lightweight design, dedicated video card with the ability to switch back to the integrated to conserve power, great speeds for something its size and price range (payed a little over 599 for mine due to it being a display model)

Video performance: Have played Skyrim now for about 2 hours on full settings (on the NVidia card of course) and have had no hiccups.

Heat: I have owned many laptops and out of all of them this is the only one that has yet to attempt to burn me alive.

Cons: Fixed battery

Other Thoughts: For what i purchased it for (need windows based laptop for most cisco based programs which i use heavily in school) it goes above and beyond. Not only can i multitask with progams, (run wireshark, packet tracer, the web and music) but when i have the free time i can play the latest and greatest with full settings.

I am A+ certified, currently attend college in a Network Security degree path (with full intention of getting CISSP also) and work for the company with the blue shirts (easiest entry level tech job to find)

3 out of 5 eggsDecent - but not quite what expected

Pros: For the price you get a significant machine with the processor and dedicated graphics card. This computer successfully fulfilled all of the requirements for which it was purchased.

Cons: I had to send mine back, the "P" bottom on the keyboard did not work. Working with tech support with Samsung requires you to send the computer away for upto 2-weeks.

It is a 15" screen body style with a 14" screen. I was hoping for something a little smaller.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat School/Gaming Laptop

Pros: Disregard the completely asinine review below. This laptop is perfectly fine. Every piece of hardware in the existence of time has had occasional failure. On to the review!

The laptop is what I like to consider an All-purpose laptop. Its great for low profile use at school. And if your a gamer like myself, you'll certainly be able to bring it over to a LAN party and game with it. The processor is a quadcore, and the video card is a gt 520M. Both of which pack some power, especially for a laptop.

Battery life lasts about 6 hours. Great for long school days when I'm not always next to an outlet.

This beast is sexy. Nice segregated keys. Very clean aluminum look. Almost can be mistaken for a macbook due to its minimal design.

Cons: Non-removable battery. Not like I'm the kind of person who carries around 2 batteries anyway.

Pros: Literally none. Seriously. Read below. This is a horrid laptop build that has hardware recalled by Intel. This review documents the recall. NewEgg should NOT be selling this laptop to anyone. It is literally unrepairable.

Cons: I needed a laptop to experiment with linux distros. Laptop locked up when I booted from Ubuntu 10.04 install disc. Power button wasn't working. Pulled power cord, went to pull battery. Internal battery. *sigh* but this really isn't the fatal flaw with this laptop.

Back in December/Jan of 2010/2011 Intel recalled the Intel 6 series chipsets and C200 with step B2 (and B4) due to a hardware bug that causes their 3 Gbits/s Serial ATA to degrade over time until they become unusable.

Looking through my device manager, I confirmed that this laptop had this recalled chipset.

I entered a IM convo w/ an Intel product rep. Using the HardwareID, we were able to confirm that this series of laptops does indeed have the recalled chipset.

The Intel rep told me I HAD to elevate this issue with Samsung to demand a refund or other solution, as they are aware of the problem, and should NOT be selling any laptops with this hardw

Other Thoughts: After 3 months, literally 40 or so phone calls and hours on hold, I got Samsung to let me send this unit to their repair facility in Texas. The repair facility confirmed that this is an unfix-able problem, so Samsung replaced my laptop... WITH THE SAME MODEL!!! After another 2 weeks of screaming on the phone at the moron product reps at Samsung, and I FINALLY got a refund check in the mail a few days ago.

Seriously. This is the worst laptop ever created. The inspection date on the bottom was June 2011, implying that it was approved for sale WELL after Intel began contacting laptop manufactures of their recall.
