Presario V6107US Notebook PC balances work and pleasure; it's a great choice for a desktop replacement. It features a 15.4-inch high-definition BrightView LCD with widescreen aspect ratio. A true multimedia workhorse, featuring NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 video/graphics card, Windows XP Media Center Edition operating system, and a DVD Super Multi with LightScribe support that can label discs after they're burned.
This 6.6-pound notebook is powered by the 2.0 GHz AMD Turion 64 MK-36 processor, optimized to power today's thinnest notebooks, and offers 64-bit computing capability. AMD technology features such as HyperTransport (which increases the communication between integrated circuits), PowerNow! (which gives longer battery and heat management), and Enhanced Virus Protection (which works with Windows XP Service Pack 2).
Offering the latest in DVD writing technology, the DVD Super Multi drive is compatible with writing multiple disc formats. The LightScribe DVD Super Multi drive lets you laser-etch silkscreen quality text and images on to CDs and DVDs . Your software, PC and discs work together for a no-hassle way to burn the labels you want. After you burn content, just flip the disc over, reinsert and burn your label: anything from a simple title to a full-disc work of art.

My wife is happy
- Pros: I got it for my wife she had a 2.8GHZ P4 sony vaio before, that cost 3 times what this did and this thing beats that. She sent me a message at work and said only 4 words "This thing is fast"
plays Sims 2 good at 800x600 I would recommend this to anyone looking for a low cost Laptop that can do more than just e-mail
- Cons: WOW 53 PROCESSES running. After unistalling the JUNK I got it down to 29 but just about any computer you buy today is loaded with junk like that so cant drag down the rating just cuz of that.
Has a glossy LCD not sure I like that. The up down viewing angle is not as good as I would like but it seems to be very usable.
- Other Thoughts: Message to computer manufacturers:
"STOP PUTTING ALL THAT JUNK SOFTWARE ON COMPUTERS YOU SELL"
Still getting used to the widescreen
- Pros: Price, style, good features, AMD CPU, nVidia GFX up to 256Meg shared, Win XP instead of Vista. Good display, volume slider instead of using function key presses.
- Cons: Bloatware!!! WARNING, you will need 3 DVD-R or 18 CD-R (RW's will not work) to create the restore disc's. Make the restore disc's before attacking the bloatware or you could be stuck like me and not be able to complete the restore disc's.
DVD tray is too close to the USB and Power ports on the right side and doesn't open far enough to quickly and easily remove disc's. Only 2 USB ports.
- Other Thoughts: The 512Meg of RAM is 2x256, I added a 1Gig card in place of a 256Meg and have had no issues. Every function I have used thus far has worked well. The touch pad seems good, but I use a mouse whenever possible. The Altec Lansing speakers are decent, but I was expecting a bit better audio than it offers. The keyboard feels pretty good and that is coming from someone who cordially hates laptop keyboards. Wireless LAN needed no messing with on my first business trip. I'd buy it again.

DVD Super-Multi is junk
- Pros: Excellent machine for games and apps. I have had no problems with speed - after removing all of the bloatware.
- Cons: The DVD Super mulit is junk (apparently the word C*R*A*P is not allowd here). DVD playback is jittery and burning speeds top out at less than 2X (1.79 w/ Nero tests). My ancient desktop Iomega Super DVD burner that I have had for over 5 years is faster.
- Other Thoughts: If you are buying this for DVD playback or burning - then I would suggest you stay away, you will be dissapointed.
Memories......
- Pros: Solid, quiet machine. Ran fine out of the box on 512 MB Ram, I did upgrade though. NOT Vista. Very slick look for a Compaq/HP. Nice lil' case free w/bundle. $30 rebate is always nice. DVD Burner worked fine, did not try LightScribe Dual Layer though. Upgradeable memory slots (2) and Vista capable(should you ever want to).
- Cons: Too Much Bloatware.
- Other Thoughts: Thought the installed memory would be 1-512MB stick (my bad) but was 2-256MB sticks. I bought 1-512MB Corsair Valueselect which worked great but left me at only 768MB with one original 256MB stick hanging around. Thank goodness memory has become affordable. Started w/57 processes and after removing most of the 'extras', then installing Firefox, Open Office Suite and Free AVG I ended up w/44 processes and a pretty quick machine. Did not try games but didn't buy it for that.
Sweet
- Pros: Very nice Laptop for the price.I've been looking for a new one over the past year, and this one Rocks.
- Cons: To much Bloatware, and needs more memory so be prepaired to buy at least 1 gig,I opted for the max of 2 gigs.Once you clean out the Bloat you'll have plenty of room on the HD.
- Other Thoughts: If you plan on using it for loads of movie/tv downloads you'll need a bigger HD or a external HD.
