amazing.
- Pros: this laptop is great, ive had it for somewhere around a year now, i got it from circuit city. this thing runs vista easily, and i have ubuntu as dual boot. it can run a lot of games, but does get hot. just make sure you have some sort of fan for it. playing need for speed most wanted does make it hot, but it hasnt overheated. download hwmonitor or speedfan to monitor the temperatures, your safe anywhere under 68C. still havnt had a single problem other than power plug faliure where i got a new one through hp warranty.
- Cons: when i got it it was 700 bucks.
not for an intense gamer, can not even come close to running crysis if anyone is wondering. i downloaded the demo and opened the cryengine editor, and i got to about 71C gpu and closed it. great for almost everything though. also not very long battery life. 2.5 hours about.
- Other Thoughts: a lot of people say it overheats, just dont cover the vents with your legs or set the laptop on fabric... sure the laptop may feel hot sometimes, all laptops do, but if you look at the actual temperatures everything is at a low temp. it just takes a while for the laptop case to heat up with the parts.
Fast and affordable
- Pros: Runs Vista like a champ. Starts up quickly and runs solid (after some bloatware cleanup obv;).
- Cons: The remote doesn't seem to work...I've tried a lot of different things but I just can't seem to get it going.
- Other Thoughts: The remote is kind of a bummer but the laptop itself is a champ. No regrets.
sensible device
- Pros: this is a simple basic machine wirelss media center remote IS in the box can be stored in the express card slot by removing the dummy card wirelss is pretty decent display is adequate for the price graphics are fine for me its not a gamer.. processor is pretty decent for a mobile seems to do the job.
- Cons: no webcam included knew that dont like em anyway. MIGHT% not support SDHC cards..mine doesn't.. shared video mem. hence not a good gamer.
- Other Thoughts: i purchased this because MAC is way outta my price range i WANTED a basic machine not a gamer so this does the job for intertnet some simple games movies play well in media center.as for the overheating a prior reviewer stated i havent had this problem and played about 20 movies thus far.keep it on a level hard surface so it can cool properly heat should not be an issue..upgrading memory afetr researching appears to be a waste since vista (32bit) has a 4gb limit i have yet to reach 50% load in this thing which breaks down to 1gb video 2 gb system..
