4 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop for the price

Pros: Incredibly fast processor, spacious 4GB of memory, powerful Graphics card. The turbo button works perfectly under Windows 7, as do the webcam, bluetooth, wireless, and eco touch buttons, as well as the programmable key.
-The number pad is a blessing
-The aluminum case is very good looking and professional, as is the trackpad
-The e-sata port is very useful
-You can plug in 2 sets of headphones at once.
-Has a Western Digital Scorpio Black Harddrive (FAST)
-Relative cool to the touch, even in turbo mode
-Quiet fans

Cons: The media touch buttons only work when the media player is in the foreground, unless you use windows media player (they work regardless of whether the application is in the foreground)

The right shift key is WAY too tiny, it takes a while to get used to using it, and even then you usually press the wrong key.
the period key is also way too small, but you have to make sacrifices for a number pad.
3 USB ports is too few
Vent is on the right side, so gaming with the mouse too close to the right quickly gets uncomfortable.
When the CD drive reads at maximum speed it rattles, but you rarely encounter a CD that reads that fast (only whens booting from a CD)

Other Thoughts: this laptop is much more preferable to a comprably priced HP, in terms of aesthetics. I do wish it had a few more frills, but i haven't encountered any shortcomings. The trackpad is centered to the left, which seems to surprise people, but it doesn't cause any usability issues.

All in all this laptop was worth the $900

1 out of 5 eggsMSI Rebates are a Scam

Pros: The notebook so far has been excellent. The initial setup took sometime but everything works as it should right out of the box. The HDMI output works well with my LCD tv and the graphics card is good enough to playb movies from the computer to the TV no problem.

Cons: MSI rebates are a scam. I learned about this after buying the Notebook and sending in the paperwork for the rebate. They either reject your rebate because the paperwork was not filled out flawlessly or they pretend like they never received it in the first place. Just do a google search for MSI rebates and it tells the story.

Other Thoughts: Good notebook if you are willing to pay the price for it before the rebate.

5 out of 5 eggssweet deal

Pros: Beautiful Screen
Sleek Look
Excellent Performance
Eco button to control screen brightness
Nice webcam
Turbo button to instantly overclock
dedicated graphics
Touchpad buttons for wireless, blue tooth and webcam

Cons: Small Right Shift Key
Speakers are kind of quite, but its a laptop
Not a big deal, but collects finger prints on outside
Non gaming battery life a little over 2 hrs in power save mode
2 hard drive partitions for one hd
no enclosed backup discs, must backup manually

Other Thoughts: Tried to install xp, but received blue screen. Trying to resolve this i flashed the bios, used different xp discs, but no solution found. Ran memory tests and found no problems. Finally I decided vista may not be so bad after years of reckless hate. It is a a let down for me though, since msi supplying xp drivers was a selling point of this hardware for me. This problem is probably not experienced by other users how said they installed xp just fine.

Recommended to Everyone!!

5 out of 5 eggsGood for the price

Pros: -Nice touch functions
-Numpad included
-Dolby Sound is neat
-Plenty of power
-I like the design
-Came with a bookbag
-Solid build
-Great value

Cons: -The OS install on the C drive is too small (40gb or so with a 20gb OS on it) so I had to reinstall it to make the size bigger while shrinking the D drive.
-Should have came with a 64bit OS since it has 4gigs of ram.
-Mediocre (battery life, viewing angels, audio)
-Right shift key decreased to fit numpad in.
-Wish it had a USB port in the back and volume controls

Other Thoughts: The cons are mostly small stuff, but they are still worth noting. What made me buy this was the rebate and the 3year warranty once registering. Once the driver and hardrive space issues are resolved, this laptop is great.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: This laptop is great. I love the look if it and like the title says, Its definitely sleek. Everything is good, no defects and its fast and great on games. I'm getting good frames on WoW on high settings. contrary to what other reviews said I 'm having no problem picking up wireless networks from across my house. Newegg was fast on packing/shipping of course but they always are =].

Cons: Nothings that hasn't been said, keyboard took a couple hours to get used to but no biggy and the setup takes a while on the first boot.

Other Thoughts: I'd recommend this laptop to anyone in a heart beat

5 out of 5 eggsGreat piece of Machinery

Pros: Metal Finish, numpad, beautiful screen, great video card, great price, 4GB of RAM, Takes Windows 7 x64 likes a champ and detects almost everything on the fly. Free backpack is actually not some piece of garbage, its quite large and comes with lock-attachable zipper as well as fine looks.

Cons: Gosh if I were to be picky about anything on this laptop, I would have to say it's most definitely the fact that I dislike the MSi Logo. Big Deal.

Other Thoughts: Virtual PC 2007 installs and runs on this system no problem. Haven't checked VirtualBox or VMWare, I'm sure both have no problems. I have noticed that - for the most part - everything that ran/runs on Vista seems to work without much of a hitch on W7.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat computer

Pros: - Very sleek design. I LOVE the brushed aluminum finish
- Nice gpu. Can play a lot of games at med-high settings (and with some performance mods you can crank the settings all the way up with no problem)
- Fast CPU. Turbo mode really helps out with that a lot
- Full keyboard is very cool
- Eco mode if you are traveling and need to conserve battery life
- Webcam's are always fun to play around with
- No bloatware (except for Norton. Before I did anything on the computer I made sure to remove it)

Cons: - Battery life is on the low side
- Playing games makes this computer VERY HOT!!!
- Keyboard takes some time to get used to for it is very cramped up.

Other Thoughts: - As I said before, this computer gets incredibly hot when playing games. You NEED to buy a laptop cooler if you plan on playing games. They only cost about $30, but it is well worth it.
- The screen on mine came with one dead pixel, but that is an LCD screen for you I guess. It really doesn't bother me though.

- (this has nothing to do with this computer) When searching for a Notebook computer DO NOT buy a computer with an integrated graphics card. I know somebody who spend $700 on a computer (which is only $150 less than this one) and it had an integrated graphics card. This computer can't even play flash video's on youtube without lagging up. That's pathetic. Even if you have no interest in playing games on your computer still make sure that it either has a Radeon or Nvidia graphics chip. If you get a computer that has an integrated graphic chip, you will not be able to run even the simplest programs; thus, your computer will be better off as a coffee mat.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop:)

Pros: Awesome for the price, Its powerful and plays WoW on high getting 30-40 fps in dalaran.
Its very nice having a full number pad on the right side and im loving the overclock button. And it has a lot of good features including being able to disable the touch pad which is good when you are using a usb mouse so you don't accidentally move the cursor or click when you are typing. The vents arent directly blowing on your hands when using a usb mouse.

Cons: The battery life, It goes for about 2 hours when on the "Balanced" power mode. and even less when using the overclock mode.
The " . " key is VERY small its half the size of a normal key and the shift key is the size of a normal laptop key which is kind of annoying. It also takes time to get used to not hitting the Function key instead of the Ctrl key.

the laptop gets very hot when playing games,

And the back light of the laptop is very uneven you can see it when loading a game or some sort of black screen which leads to the bottom of the screen looking very bright and the tops looking less bright.

The brightness was a problem for me mostly because everything didn't seem to look right, but after a bunch of fiddling around i finally got it to look somewhat normal.

Other Thoughts: id totally recommend this laptop to anyone, It comes with a backpack which is a great plus, Its very light and small which was great when i was expecting something bulky and heavy.

Also some weird thing, Since this is a 32 bit operating system its only supposed to detect about 3 gigs of ram but im actually being shown 4 gigs of ram...

So itd be nice if it just came with a 64 bit operating system pre-installed.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy!!! Thank you New Egg

Pros: It is really great for the money. Solid build. Also looks very good, especially the metal-finish.
It works very well with Linux. I had no problems to installed Mandriva few days ago and it is working fine now. Everything got detected: camera, sound, video, mouse pad…etc. Live CD of several other Distos worked fine as well.
Number pad is great thing to have on this laptop (considering it’s 15.4). I use it a lot, especially if I am working with Blender.
It also relatively cool. The fan exhaust on the right side didn't bother me so much. Actually, when I use USB mouse, my hand is not in front of that exhaust. So if you should not worry about this fan exhaust.
I also find it very nice to have CD-Rom on left side, since if you will use USB mouse, you would have it on your right side.
P.S. :) Thank you, NewEgg, as always for great service.

Cons: I don't think I saw any. Its great computer.

Other Thoughts: Keyboard is ok. I don't find anything wrong with it. Before I was worried about it. But in reality, at least for me, its fine. I also don't think that it feels cheap. Some keys are small, but it’s ok.

HHD set up, nothing bad about it!!! To me it is good that they done it this way. I think its perfect.
I installed Linux on that big partition and let Windows use only 50GB (I don’t think I will use Windows that much, maybe just for few days). It was nice that it was partitioned like this already, made it a little easier for me.
But people, who plan to use Windows most of the time, also would this set up. That big partition is good place to keep all downloads. At least, I do download a lot, most of the time.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop!

Pros: Dual Core, fast graphics, as others have said hard drive is 7200RPM, HDMI, SPDIF. Played a few games on it (Empire: Total War, Rome: The Grand Ages) Great for watching HD movies from iTunes in 1080P and 5.1 surround via HDMI and SPDIF. Turbo mode overclocks.

Cons: Tears through the battery in less than 2 hrs. Keyboard is tighter than I am use to but not bad. Audio driver issues with SPDIF. Right handed external mouse users will not like the exhaust fan blowing on your hand.

Other Thoughts: I purchased it as a desktop replacement. This laptop has lived up to my expectations and I absolutely love it.

I've done some audio/video conversions on it and it uses up every bit of the CPU, so Turbo mode is very nice to squeeze that extra speed out of it. Don't waste your time on the audio driver from MSI if you plan to use the SPDIF, go to Realtek and get the High Definition Audio Codecs. I would get random sound cut-outs during playback for anything (movies, music and games) to which the Realtek drivers fixed. It could also be debated that it needs an external laptop cooler. I got one after playing a game and noticing the bottom was very hot. I didn't notice any performance issues from the heat, but it was hot enough to make me concerned. The gaming backpack is a nice touch as well.
