Great laptop for the price
- Pros: Incredibly fast processor, spacious 4GB of memory, powerful Graphics card. The turbo button works perfectly under Windows 7, as do the webcam, bluetooth, wireless, and eco touch buttons, as well as the programmable key.
-The number pad is a blessing -The aluminum case is very good looking and professional, as is the trackpad -The e-sata port is very useful -You can plug in 2 sets of headphones at once. -Has a Western Digital Scorpio Black Harddrive (FAST) -Relative cool to the touch, even in turbo mode -Quiet fans
- Cons: The media touch buttons only work when the media player is in the foreground, unless you use windows media player (they work regardless of whether the application is in the foreground)
The right shift key is WAY too tiny, it takes a while to get used to using it, and even then you usually press the wrong key. the period key is also way too small, but you have to make sacrifices for a number pad. 3 USB ports is too few Vent is on the right side, so gaming with the mouse too close to the right quickly gets uncomfortable. When the CD drive reads at maximum speed it rattles, but you rarely encounter a CD that reads that fast (only whens booting from a CD)
- Other Thoughts: this laptop is much more preferable to a comprably priced HP, in terms of aesthetics. I do wish it had a few more frills, but i haven't encountered any shortcomings. The trackpad is centered to the left, which seems to surprise people, but it doesn't cause any usability issues.
All in all this laptop was worth the $900
MSI Rebates are a Scam
- Pros: The notebook so far has been excellent. The initial setup took sometime but everything works as it should right out of the box. The HDMI output works well with my LCD tv and the graphics card is good enough to playb movies from the computer to the TV no problem.
- Cons: MSI rebates are a scam. I learned about this after buying the Notebook and sending in the paperwork for the rebate. They either reject your rebate because the paperwork was not filled out flawlessly or they pretend like they never received it in the first place. Just do a google search for MSI rebates and it tells the story.
- Other Thoughts: Good notebook if you are willing to pay the price for it before the rebate.
sweet deal
- Pros: Beautiful Screen
Sleek Look Excellent Performance Eco button to control screen brightness Nice webcam Turbo button to instantly overclock dedicated graphics Touchpad buttons for wireless, blue tooth and webcam
- Cons: Small Right Shift Key
Speakers are kind of quite, but its a laptop Not a big deal, but collects finger prints on outside Non gaming battery life a little over 2 hrs in power save mode 2 hard drive partitions for one hd no enclosed backup discs, must backup manually
- Other Thoughts: Tried to install xp, but received blue screen. Trying to resolve this i flashed the bios, used different xp discs, but no solution found. Ran memory tests and found no problems. Finally I decided vista may not be so bad after years of reckless hate. It is a a let down for me though, since msi supplying xp drivers was a selling point of this hardware for me. This problem is probably not experienced by other users how said they installed xp just fine.
