3 out of 5 eggsGood for the Price

Pros: FullSized Keyboard
Gaming is Decent
Faster than my last one
Decent Cooling

Cons: Speakers aren't that impressive
Plagued with Problems
MSI recovery package is lacking
Not as flexible for other OSes and Uses

Other Thoughts: After 4months I am plagued with problems. Laptops are Consumer goods and are meant to break.
Problems, DVD drive is faulty, USB ports are faulty, Harddrive crashed out on me. No Vista included for nuking HD
If you didn't know how to use the Turbo, Camera, and Modes properly, expect a learning curve.
Worth the money but don't count on it lasting long.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat, but not Perfect

Pros: Great GPU for the money
320 GB HDD
Full Sized Keyboard (only a couple things are a little off)
High Resolution screen
Runs any game out now, and many on High

Cons: Some problems with overheating before I got a cooling pad
Still overheats and shuts off under high load with "Turbo Mode"
"Eco Modes" are really pretty worthless gimmick
Slow Hard Drive
Speaker blew the first week I had it, makes a crackling sound

Other Thoughts: Playing Fallout 3 on High with HDMI to a 1920x1080 56" monitor is just awesome, and this machine handles it easily.
Left4Dead on highest settings on 1680x1050.
Speakers are decent, but don't set them too high or they'll blow
I use it for college. Gaming between classes and writing papers by night, some Youtube in there and it's all a great experience. WELL worth $800 now (I paid $1100)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop Today For Less

Pros: - High resolution 1650x1050.
- Lots of space 320 GB.
- Fast enough CPU.
- Great sound.
- Fast enough VGA (CAN handle almost every game on HIGH).
- Great Built Quality !
- Lightweight.
- Beautiful design.
- Not an fingerprints magnet, not too glossy.
- Free Bag !

Cons: - When Loaded Hardly, getting little hot, NOT a problem actually as many people have said here. Any Laptop makes heat when heavy loaded. IMHO.
- Only 5400 RPM HDD. But again 7200 RPM would make it more expensive.
- Battery life. About 2 hours on battery saver. Could be better. But the screen and CPU with VGA are big consumers in this baby.

I CAN live with those Cons, can you ? If YES, don't hesitate to get it while REBATE is available !!!

I think this line of Laptops GT series from MSI, have some perspectives in the near future.

And I think that's it. Seriously.

Other Thoughts: Many people said here that x32 system is an wrong move, because the system uses only 3 GB of RAM. But I think this is one of the best option in this laptop.
Under x64 you don't get a fastest system overall. Just for 4 GB of RAM ? Who cares ? Vista flies with 3 GB. If you REALLY need 4 GB, you can get x64 system later, not a big deal. Say thank you MSI, they putted 4 GB for you. IMHO.

5 out of 5 eggsWell worth it

Pros: 1. Brushed finished. I really hate finger print magnets. If any finger prints do manage to get on the laptop they gave you a nice screen-wipe.
2. I can play all my games on "High" CS:S, Battlefield 2, Battlefield Heroes... Haven't had time to install other games yet but it eats everything.
3. The sound it wonderful.
4. 17" screen with HDMI out.
5. Number pad
6. Webcam and mic.

Cons: 1. The right shift key it a bit too small for my liking.
2. The Fn and Ctrl keys on the left should be switched around I feel.
3. Windows Vista 32x Home Premium
4. Only three USB ports.

Other Thoughts: The DVD drive has a very large button and I always seem to hit it causing the tray to open.

The touch buttons are neat, but you can mistakenly turn off/on something that you didn't want in the first place.

Others have said something about the Power button being too close to the Esc button... It's not.

The heat vent is on the right where your hand would be if you were using a mouse and also right handed. It's warm but not hot.

Overall, I LOVE this laptop. It beats my old Dell E1505 out of the water.

4 out of 5 eggsBucci Say...

Pros: This laptop (as im sure you've read in other reviews) has what is considered by most to be the best hardware for the money, for the simple consumer looking for a simple review, they're quite right.
However, I don't think it necessary to re-invent the wheel, so let me touch on some other features that may have gone overlooked.
FOR EXAMPLE; the anti-glare screen is a great touch, not great TO touch, but a great touch, speaking of, mine came with a sticker on it, which I carefully removed using a piece of paper, slipped it under the edge so as not to disturb the screen, (hint hint).
there's also the blue buttons on your....erm..what the devil is that thing anyway? Im not sure. there are several "touch" buttons above the keyboard, theres a few for play, pause, stop, so on and so forth, theres one to turn on the camera and one to turn on the wireless, AND, a P1 button. touch the P1 button and it will open a window, you can set ANY program to that, (firefox) and it'll open when you touch

Cons: CONS. Lets do the obvious.
Fingerprints! there I said it. the fingerprint magnet sucks. Its unfortunate but the laptop DOES come with a handy dandy wipe rag, so no worries.
ok, more obviousness, the touchpad blows hard. I oftentimes rest my hand there when im playing a game, (with mouse) and i find myself swinging my oversized, overcompensating weapon at townsfolk who just paid me for getting their jumbo potatoes back, and then guards come with swords, spears, bows, its a whole ordeal.

I dont like the partitioning, why on EARTH would i want 70% of my hard drive to be partitioned away from my OPERATING SYSTEM? it's maddening! and dont give me that "back up your operating system brand new so you can fix it if it gets broke later" I just did that! on DISCS.
and why on earth would I need 240 gigs to save my LESS THAN 50 GB of starting data?! Argh! Ah, but I'll forgive. It IS an amazing laptop.

Other Thoughts: ok ok, IT DOES run a LITTLE hot. but thats a laptop thing, they all run hot, from what ive seen anyway. if its a huge problem, Newegg sells nice cooling pads for pretty good prices. go for it.

Nice backpack too.

5 out of 5 eggsCan't beat it for the price

Pros: Good CPU performance, good GPU for a laptop, decent amount of RAM. Overall, this laptop is a great gaming laptop for anything less than $1200. Do the research, and you'll see mostly raving reviews for this thing. Hooked up to a 42" HDTv via the HDMI port, games are *gorgeous*.

Cons: It can get a little hot, but easily remedied by making sure there's enough air flow around the right-hand back-side, or getting a laptop cooler. It will blow hot air onto your hand if you mouse near that vent, but better the hot air is outside than inside.

Other Thoughts: The included backpack is actually a pretty nice one. Plenty of room for the laptop, power wart, mouse, and tons of other junk to take to your buddy's house for weekend LAN games. ;)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat machine

Pros: Big screen, performance, flashy looks, can play HD content no problem.

Cons: Short battery life. Can't think of anything else...

Other Thoughts: I love this machine. I don't play games too much but I do watch movies in HD and I play a few games every once in awhile. It can handle pretty much anything you throw at it. Also you can get an external blu ray drive for 100 bucks and have an HD capable laptop too at a much cheaper cost than the cheapest blu ray laptop out of the box.

5 out of 5 eggsLove It!

Pros: This is a Great Laptop, I love it more then any other I own. I originally bout a Acer and didnt like it at all. So decided to give the MSI a shot and im glad I did. The GPU is downclocked like everyone stated but is a easy 15min fix. The CPU Does bottleneck the GPU's performance. The Turbo Mode works perfectly! I have seen comments saying there computer crashes with Turbo Mode or gets really hot but mine stays fairly cool and works perfectly in turbo mode. Overall I love this laptop!

Cons: The only thing I dont like about it is, The is a little awkward but after getting use to isnt that bad. Main thing about it is the Shift key. The battery doesnt last very long and of course you cant run Turbo mode without it plugged into the wall, which makes sense but with a upgrade to a 9cell battery it solves the battery life problem.

Other Thoughts: MSI did really good with this laptop. If I had to do it all over again, I would choose it again. Best Laptop I have ever owned and has made me a MSI fan!

2 out of 5 eggscould be better

Pros: excellent screen resolution, eco button, good looking computer, processor is good for gaming, 4 usable usb ports, 4 good sounding speakers + 1 bass speaker, lightweight for its size

Cons: keyboard layout is terrible, underclocked graphics card, they also partitioned the drives really wierd (not good for vista), 32 bit means that it can really only use 3gb out of the installed 4gb.

Other Thoughts: Power button is right next to the esc key so when your in game its hard not to hit the power button. The manual also says not to use the Turbo button because it may harm the computer (kinda pointless to have it then). If you know what youre doing it wouldnt be a bad idea to mess with the graphics card bios and make up for the 20% that they underclocked it by.

4 out of 5 eggsBeast of a Laptop for the Buck

Pros: • Slick design complemented by a very nice, bright 17 inch screen viewable from an array of angles
• Nice power under the hood, Dedicated video card, 4gbs RAM, 320gb HDD (maybe 305gb actual), all essential ports\connectors, webcam is clear (w\ decent lighting)
• Great sound for laptop speakers w\ ability to hook up to headphone or quality speaker system
• Comes with a nice bookbag style carrying case for easy transportation
• Not overly heavy or bulky even for its size
• Touch sensors are a nice little touch
• NewEgg gets it to you lighting fast plus caught it on sale w\ a rebate from MSI :-)

Cons: • Keyboard is solid and spacious but can take a little time to get use to all the buttons
• Laptop can get hot but I don’t think its as bad some of the reviews make it out to be. The turbo mode makes it heat up the most and I find it to be pointless
• Batttery life not its strong suit probably will average only about 90+ mins on a full charge stay jacked in when you can.
• Preloaded software package is adequate (some bloat-ware but nothing really horrendous like I’ve seen on other machines)
• If you are going to load your own OS from scratch (lets say Win Vista\7 64 to take full advantage of the 4gigs of ram you have) make sure you have the AHCI Raid Drivers on a usb flash drive (or USB Floppy Drive & Disk for those actually still have one) or it will not recognize the hard drive and the OS install will FAIL\CRASH!

Other Thoughts: All in all, I couldn’t be happier with this purchase I made. MSI makes three in this GT series (as far as I can tell) and at this time of this review there is only $100 difference between the low end vs the mid grade model we have here and well below the cost of the high end model. I searched high and low for a machine comparable with the same value and I have yet to do it. I think anyone who takes the plunge on this one will be satisfied with enough power for some years to come. Thanks MSI\Newegg :-D
