5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop Even Today

Pros: Powerful for its day and even somewhat still.
Plays most games fairly well.
Has plenty of ports and goodies.
IR port on the front makes this a great little sleek HTPC in the entertainment center.
MSI Afterburner works with this GPU though doesn't give me any temp monitoring.

Cons: Came with Windows Vista.
Only 4GB of RAM.
GPU gets HOT pushing serious games. Heat being the bane of most high-end gaming laptops these days I can't say this is really that big of a deal.

Other Thoughts: Ran into an issue with GPU overheating and laptop completely shutting down video.
I think my HDMI port may have shorted which oddly caused the touchpad to no longer respond and strange issues with the keyboard. Works fine with no HDMI plugged in though... Could have just been a bad cable. I'll have to check that out someday.

I wouldn't mind MSI updating their drivers page with some 64-bit drivers for all of the devices.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop Deal. Newegg is awesome.

Pros: I gave this 4 eggs (see other thoughts below)

Great laptop for the price that Newegg offered.
Trust me I've done over a months worth of research and no other laptops come close - Dell, HP, Lenovo, Acer with all their deal coupon codes. Great clear display, powerful graphics card (faster than the HP HDX18 laptops card - Nvidia 512mb 9600M). Fast dual core processor P7350. Hands down best buy !!!

Cons: The laptop - Perfect. But if I have to be nitpicky, I have to say this is a fingerprint magnet. The webcam is not exceptional, but good enough. Hard disk is partitioning is wierd and the computer does not have a firewire port, but who cares. If you really need firewire badly, you can add it with using the PCI express slot.

Other Thoughts: Received the laptop with dead touchpad + buttons. Not Neweggs fault at all but the manufacturers qualiti control. I have had to use the computer with external USB mouse. I called newegg to see if I can return it for replacement, but the laptop was soldout and they told me I can return it for a full refund and initiated the process promptly.
Because I needed this laptop badly I chose to get it repaired rather than return it locally (costed me 125$) and told this to newegg and they offered 50$ refund in good faith. Else they still gave me the option of returning it for a full refund. Neweggs 50$ is appreciated, but it did not cover the full repair cost. MSI is mostly to blame as well..so Thats why I gave this 4/5 rating. But newegg was very prompt and has great coustomer service. No regrets !!

5 out of 5 eggsamazing

Pros: The best performance that you can get with the money spent. I've tested so many games: l4d, Crysis, Crysis Warhead, Assassin's Creed, Velvet Assassin, COD 4/5, Devil May Cry 4, Far Cry2, GRID, Prince of Persia, NFS Undercover, Prototype, Terminator, and The Last Remnant and most of them ran pretty well. But see cons below.

Cons: As mentioned, CPU is the bottle neck.
The biggest problem that I had was that when I ran Crysis, X-men origin, and GTA IV, the laptop freezes after 2~3 mins. Not sure it happens only to my laptop but the Radeon HD 4670 seemed to have problem with these 3 games. Other mentioned above ran well though.
And there is no way you can update ATI Catalyst which may cause this freeze.

Other Thoughts: It'd be good to know if others have the same problems with Crysis, X-men, and GTA IV.

Please post whether you had the same problem or did not have any problem at all with these games.

5 out of 5 eggsBest gaming notebook for your buck.

Pros: This is by far the best gaming laptop I've seen for such a cheap price. There's only a handful of mobile graphics cards faster than the HD4670, and they're all in laptops twice the price or more. The laptop itself has nice big keys, and the screen is crystal clear and super bright. It also has a small subwoofer on the bottom which combined with the included dolby effects actually gives this thing some decent sound from it's built-in speakers.

Cons: It comes installed with 32bit Vista, which is perplexing. This is my only major complaint about the entire thing. The OEM key included with the system will not work with 64bit, MSI may be willing to assist with a new key, I didn't waste the time and just used my own.

The screen is super glossy and reflects everything. This could be bothersome around bright lighting or outdoors.

The processor is a tad slow, but is only a small bottleneck to the rest of the system.

Other Thoughts: Regardless of the cons I chose to give this notebook 5 eggs because of it's sheer value. A quality notebook for a low price. Can't beat that.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Deal

Pros: This computer was a gift I got for graduation, so I picked it out based on how well it would be able to do stuff not only for now but for the next few years while I'm at college. So far, it has exceeded all my expectations. The graphics card is great (can run COD4 and Fallout 3 at max settings at the max resolution with ~50 FPS), the sound quality is the best I have EVER heard out of a laptop when you turn the Cinema Pro on, and it has handled everything I have been able to throw at it so far with flying colors.

Cons: The keyboard, as everyone has said, is a little funky. I have found myself hitting the Fn key when I try to hit CTRL a lot, and I make a few more typing errors when I type because of how scrunched up everything is. I personally would have rather had a slightly less cramped keyboard and not had a number pad on the side, but I can deal with it.

Also, as a few other people have said, the warrany sticker on the bottom is obviously placed there just so that you will accidentally rip it. I did this just from picking it up the day I got it before I realized how fragile it was, but I haven't tried contacting MSI to find out if this really just killed my warranty. Some people in their reviews have said that MSI says it DOES kill it, and others have said that it does not, so I guess I will find out for myself.

All in all, minor gripes with an otherwise great machine.

Other Thoughts: It really is a great deal. Its fast, it looks cool, has lots of little things you don't really need but are nice to have (bluetooth, fingerprint scanner, webcam, etc.) It has a few small problems (and maybe one big one depending on whether or not I find out I killed my warranty) but I would most definitely recommend this to anyone who was looking at it. Its such a good deal for the low price that I wouldn't pass it up if you're looking for a low-priced computer which can do anything.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Check the specs, you definitely get your moneys worth. Have not had an issue with any of the hardware so far with one exception (keyboard). My friend has the GT 120M video card in an Asus laptop with incredibly similar specs. He paid 50$ more and my graphics card recieves an average of 50% more fps in the same games with the same settings.

Cons: Minor con, if you start typing over approximately 60wpm, you will occassionally miss letters. I'm not sure if there is some sort of software lag between the keyboard and the laptop, or its the fact the keyboard is kind of fragile and scrunched, but it can get annoying when you are writing word documents. I consider this more of a video game/movie watching laptop. (even tho the ctrl and fn keys are swapped (annoying to crouch in CS:Source now)) If anyone knows a solution keyboard lag, please let me know.

Other Thoughts: Recieved an 820 in passmark pcmark performance test. My old desktop (2 gigs ddr, 2.0 dualcore, 7800gt, 2 16mb cache hard drives in raid0) recieved only a 700. I haven't turned on my desktop in three days.

5 out of 5 eggsUber cool

Pros: Crazy lightweight, monster video card, decent and upgradable processor, 4gigs o' mem. 16" widescreen. Decent sized 320gig drive.

Cons: A little glossy. Control key and Fn key are transposed...

Other Thoughts: Best notebook for the price on the market right now. Combo of CPU/GPU puts it solidly in play with all modern software. mSI makes solid MB's and this seems is a good foray into the notebook market.

5 out of 5 eggsUsing it for gaming? HELL YEAH! LOOK HERE!

Pros: -HD 4670 graphics card.
I've Looked up this card on notebookcheck where they benchmark laptop videocards. This is faster than 8600m GT in SLI and 9700mGTS supposedly
-4GB OF RAM! (wish the OS 64-bit to utilize all 4GB properly)
-Played Unreal Tournament 3 silky smooth, Left 4 Dead, CS:S, HL2, Mirror's Edge, Demigod, Sims 3, etc all with no hitches. (all of them on mid-high graphic settings and top resolution)
-Very Lightweight (due to very thin plastic on the bottom, makes the product feel a bit fragile, but its worth the sacrifice to make it lighter)
-Fingerprint scanner is pretty useful in saving passwords, impresses my friends, and keeps them outta my 'happy time' stash of videos.

Cons: -KEYBOARD IS WEIRD! who thought it was a great idea to swap Fn and Ctrl!?! Oh great now I have to break my pinky to reach Ctrl in FPS games. I got tired of it and put Shift as crouch. (games that use shift to run, ur just going to have to get used to it somewhere else) Theres only two ways to switch them, either mod its BIOS or reroute the circuits on the keyboard, but I don't recommend either if you're not experienced.

Other Thoughts: This laptop makes me sweat balls during hot summer days when playing with it on my lap, the videocard gets hot while playing games. (hotter than most laptops)

5 out of 5 eggsThoughts from a laptop n00b

Pros: Great graphics card. That's one of the main reasons I purchased this. Most other namebrand computers that come around this price range don't have nearly as good as a graphics card. I have also seen some computers with lower end class 2 graphics cards around 900 to 1000 dollars. This computer, so far, has been excellent. Fast and has pretty good speakers for a laptop. Does not weigh that much, and looks darn good on my desk! I named my comp Magnum. If you have seen Zoolander, then you should know why.

Cons: The keyboard setting (switch between fn and ctrl) really does mess you up a little. I am an avid fan of shortcuts (ctrl +t, a, c, v, etc.) and I get annoyed when nothing happens and then I realize I'm actually pressing fn instead. The keys also seem to get a little stuck. Noticeably the "s" key. Since the keyboard is pretty scrunched up in order to fit, I also find myself making a lot more errors than I'm used to, but I'm sure I'll adjust. The screen resolution is also a bit odd. It's a bit annoying that there's no volume control on the top touchpad like other laptops. Also, the way the harddrive is partitioned (C drive = 44gb, D drive = 246 gb) is a little strange as well. I'm also not keen on how when you close the top of the laptop, you have to press the power button for it to come back on. I'm more used to laptops where you tap the touchpad. So pretty much, nothing major. Just a couple of things I have to get used to.

Other Thoughts: This is my first laptop ever. I was very sketch to buy from MSI because I have never heard of it. The reason why I purchased it is (as lame as this is) because I wanted to play the Sims 3 and my piece of a desktop couldn't handle it. This computer comes with 4 gb of ram and a pretty freaking good graphics card. Also, not sure what's up with the MSI site, but in order to get the warranty with the company, you have to register on the site and print out some form, then mail it off to MSI with your receipt. The thing is, I tried to do all that yesterday, and due to broken links was unable to print out the final form. Now I am trying to access it again, and I can't seem to find it. However, on their site under my product list (which is littered with sketchy spelling errors), it says that I registered my computer and have a warranty until june 2012. Does not compute. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know.

5 out of 5 eggsWow, I'm blown away! BUY THIS LAPTOP NOW!!!

Pros: Radeon HD 4670 is awesome, 4 gigs DDR-800 RAM, good dual-core cpu, HDMI out, bluetooth, sharp looks and solid build, crystal clear sound (7.1 channels with SUBWOOFER!!!), bargain price for so much power, Vista runs well, plays graphically demanding games such as Oblivion and Lord of the Rings Online smoothly at Very High to Ultra High settings!!

Cons: My primary gripe is that it's taking me a while to get used to the keyboard. I find I make a ton of mistakes when typing because I accidentally hit the wrong keys. So this probably isnt the machine to get for word-processing, but it's great for web surfing and gaming. I also wish it had a 64-bit OS and higher screen rez, but those are minor quibbles.

Other Thoughts: I am totally blown away by the hardware and performance this laptop gives you for such a good price. I searched a long time before buying this, and I couldn't even find another laptop as good as this one for under $900-$1,000. So if you're looking for a sweet gaming machine that won't break the bank, LOOK NO FURTHER.
