4 out of 5 eggsGreat Notebook..waited a year before writing a review

Pros: Very Lightweight, the i3 is an excellent processor, enough RAM for most people, screen brightness is great, location of the inputs and outputs are good.

Cons: Speakers, and the battery seems to be holding a little less of a charge now

Other Thoughts: Great PC especially if your a headphone listener. I do wish they could've tried to get bigger or better speakers in the unit. Its hard to hear them even in a quiet room.

5 out of 5 eggsawesome

Pros: Bought this for my little sis and so far no probs what so ever, runs like a champ.

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: I have another MSI gaming laptop GT735 and I have to say I'm impressed with their products.

Highly recommended

5 out of 5 eggsIncredible

Pros: This machine is amazing!!! First of all it is the lowest priced Blu-ray enabled laptop I have ever seen. Second this machine will run just about any game you throw at it. I was very pleasantly surprised with this unit.

Cons: Only two things I will bring up is that this particular model, though the pictures tell you that this machine might have it, does not have built in Bluetooth. The second thing is the speaker placement. They are located at the front of the unit and they don't really have a lot of power. However these two things are of no real consequence as to how this machine operates, just thought FYI.

Other Thoughts: I wasn't sure how well this laptop would run because normally I would have associated the Manufacture name of MSI with networking and modems not full fledged computers. MSI you have my vote.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad that...

Pros: Fast processor (i3).
Pretty light for its size.
Bright display.
Good amount of RAM (4gb).
Descent amount of hard drive space.

Cons: SUPER weak internal speakers. It's incredibly hard to hear some content. It depends on the source audio. I highly recommend connecting speakers whenever possible. it's annoying when you're on the go and obviously can't carry around your speakers.
Stutters / jittery HD video playback connected to external TV (using VLC player).
Glossy display -- easy fix by just getting an anti-glare display from (online auction site).
Keyboard takes time getting use to. I'm able to type easily now with the 10-key on the side but the power button is placed too close to the page up/down buttons in the top-right corner. I've put my machine to sleep accidentally a few times.

Other Thoughts: I haven't even used the BluRay drive...

Placement of ports are almost entire in the rear. There is one USB port on the right side, the ethernet on the left. I'm use to the ports being on the side. It looks like the USB ports are too close together, especially next to the HDMI output.

I was under the impression that it was 64bit OS...but I really don't see a difference.

Hard drive could be bigger / faster.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat so far

Pros: Great value. I shopped around quite a bit for a new laptop. The comp machines in the local shops were easily $100-$300 more. Why not just buy from MSI; they build most of the parts everyone else uses anyway.

Cons: None so far

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very fast bootup, most Windows 7 computers bootup to startup menu anywhere from 10-25 seconds, fully loaded.

Fast processing, unless you game with Fallout, Crysis, or the heavy heavy games then the i3 is a great processor for the occasional gamer. I use my desktop to game.

Comes with 4GB memory which is way more than you need for a laptop.

Doesn't come with a load of filler programs

I love Windows 7!

Cons: The GMA is an onboard Intel GMA "HD" it is not HD. Not a video card to game with at all.

Blue ray player takes forever to load a DVD, like 2 minutes.

This only comes with a Blue Ray output for video, does not include sound so you can't hook this up to your TV using surround sound, only your TV sound.

Speakers on this laptop literally suck a donkey's left hair, I guess thats what you can expect with laptop speakers.

3 out of 5 eggs32 bit OS

Pros: what everyone else said.

Cons: seems fine so far.

Other Thoughts: surprised when i found out it came with windows 7 32 bit OS. I guess i just assumed that it woud be 64 bit. now I have to figure out what difference it will make for me and find out how ticked-off i shoud be.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent laptop but not perfect.

Pros: Sleek unit that has several awesome features. Screen brightness is incredible compared to other computers I tested it against. The power you get from this computer for the price is really unbeatable IMO, especially with the BR Drive included.

Cons: Keyboard and mouse take some getting used to. Generic mouse drivers that came pre-installed caused ghost mouse presses and movement. This was fixed by downloading the actual touch pad driver from MSIs site. This seems to be a more general problem (ie, not specifically this unit) as I got the answer to solve it from the HP forums.

The internal speakers are pretty weak, only really good for system sounds. If you want to actually do stuff that involves sound, invest in headphones or external speakers (as written in previous reviews, but the speakers are REALLY WEAK).

Some bloatware included (I personally hate Norton products), but was easily removed (except for Norton...).

Other Thoughts: Another review mentions that the 0 key on the number pad is smaller than normal. While this is true, it should be mentioned that the bottom row of keys has a second \ | key next to the space bar. This combined with the fact that the unit has a full keyboard (with number pad) does mean some keys are positioned slightly differently than what some might expect (there are no Home/End Keys, but they are combined with the PageUp/Down Keys). Takes a while to get used to, but not impossibly so.

One thing you cant see in the listing picture is the fact the unit has a pinstripe design, so its not ALL black. Not really a surprise, as it helps mask fingerprints and smudges better than flat black.

Anyone put off by the MSI brand should understand that they have been making parts for other manufacturers for a while. The only difference is that they shove their own components in their own cases, so you don't pay for the brand.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop, excellent value

Pros: 1. Looks great, feels solid (no bending or deformation in the body when lifted with one hand), relatively light, nice pinstripe, glossy design which wasn't very obvious from the pictures.
2. Keyboard feels nice, and the pad seems to be a bit textured which I liked a lot.

Cons: 1. Comes with some bloatware.
2. The speaker volume is really low. So if you're planning on lying in bed and watching blue-ray movies on your laptop you'll probably need to get laptop speakers.
3. The '0' key on the numpad in only half the size but this seems to be somewhat usual.

4 out of 5 eggsMy first laptop

Pros: Weight, screen quality, number key pad, raised keyboard, sound, does not produce a lot of heat. A lot of options setting-wise. I have not explored all of the bells and whistles yet...but to have a web cam, blue ray, and all the other features you get a lot for your $$!

Cons: Battery does not last more than 2 1/2 hrs without having to be plugged in. I'd recommend getting a 9 or 12 cell battery. Especially if you want to watch movies or use while traveling.

Other Thoughts: This was my very first laptop, so I did a lot of research. I agree with the other reviewer about MSI they have an advantage of not being so big that their product is more robust and has cutting edge technological features.
