5 out of 5 eggsSmall issues, but exceptional system.

Pros: Powerful videocard, switchable graphics. Pretty decent value for your money, and one of the few laptops out there with DirectX11 switchable graphics.

Speakers are pretty decent, as far as laptops go.

Resolution is lower than I like, but works well with this videocard. Handles UT3, L4D2, and TF2 like a dream.

Cons: Ralink wireless is junk, no support for the 5.8ghz band. Requires removal of CPU/video heatsink/fan assembly to replace with the far superior intel 5100N. It does have 3 antenna available, although the Ralink (and the 5100N) only uses 2.

Keyboard's kind of mushy, not as solid as my the CR600 I bought my mom 9 months ago.

Other Thoughts: This is the 8th MSI laptop I've bought for myself or my clients in the past year. They're a fantastic deal with their 3 year warranty.

Compared to the next step up, you have plastic instead of metal for the lid and palmrest, but you gain a subwoofer and switchable graphics.

Does not include recovery CDs, which isn't unusual...but they have included blank discs in the past.

The description is black and gold, but I've looked at it in sunlight, warm and cool flourescant bulbs. It's titanium in color, which I certainly prefer.

Included hard drive is a WD Black 320GB.

I bought this to play videogames in a budget of $900. I looked at other laptops from Asus and MSI, and while they certainly have more power, they don't have switching graphics, and this thing is light. This isn't a desk queen, this is a laptop I'm happy to take around.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat notebook

Pros: -Geared for gaming and entertainment
-Speakers are clear; significant improvement over my Asus G1sn
-gameplay is sold in high settings at native resolution
-Solid price to performance
-Screen, though not 1080p, is clear and bright
-Light-ish for a 16inch (~6lbs)
-estimated 4 hours battery life on turbo battery mode

Cons: -not the greatest keyboard (who cares)

Other Thoughts: I practically stole this thing for $500 ;)

4 out of 5 eggsportable gamer, worker

Pros: good specs for the price. 16 inch screen is just big enough to work on without getting too bulky. switchable graphics for increased battery life. pretty quiet machine. good temps when gaming.

furmark 1.7.0 1024 x 768 avg 43 fps; 3dmark06: 7915 3d marks

temps when gaming (crysis, fc2, me2) 70-75c

fraps when gaming me2, fallout 3, fc2 combat scenes, high settings-40 to 50fps

the fan kicks on when gaming, but the noise is only a low "whoosh."

pretty lightweight

Cons: keyboard not backlit.

Other Thoughts: see the review for a more thorough review.

the ati 5730 is not the biggest beast on the block, but the screen size and resolution work well with it. dx11 is the future, but few games take advantage of it today.

the i5 is really all you need for most applications. multi threading is the future, but few programs take advantage of it today.

i think that having a dx11 card and i5 core will give this machine pretty long legs as more developers use the tech.

7200 hd helps for quick loading. when ssd's improve and drop in price, i probably will upgrade.

i needed to upgrade my laptop for occasional portable work and game use. my main work and gaming rig is my desktop(s). the ge 600 hit a good price point and component set for me.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Gaming NOTEBOOK

Pros: Fast!!! Can handle L4d2 and BFBC2 on med-high settings. Doesn't get hot and its really light.

Cons: The keyboards are okay, but can be better.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a portable gaming laptop this is the one.

3 out of 5 eggsNice Laptop, poor viewing angles

Pros: good processing capabilities, used the Unreal Engine 3 UDK for a little bit and it ran nicely

Cons: poor viewing angles, smaller hdd compared to other systems at this price, found a lenovo on sale yesterday for 949 after a mothers day coupon with a 500gb hdd, same video card, and an i7 processor!

Other Thoughts: if I could go back to Friday when I placed my order I wished I had waited for this week to see the other deals that came out, darn newegg return policy!
