4 out of 5 eggsIt's been 2 Years. Great New, Good Now.

Pros: I've had this laptop for over 2 years now. Still using it today. I am now 3rd year in university. It is a great investment for the low cost.

Year 1: I remember running Minecraft on it for the first time 2011 and the performance was nearly flawless. I could play full screen, and the game would rarely hiccup. I also played another game Vindictus at the time, and I distinctly remember being able to max out the settings while getting at least 60fps response. Very smooth gameplay, was impressed at the time.

All in all, when the laptop was brand new, noticeably fast response navigating the GUI, noticeably fast start up and shut down.

Videos were great to watch on this machine too. playback on the media player was excellent.

THX great audio, It was advantageous when I hooked up Logitech THX subwoofer set to the laptop. The sounds were and still are glorious.

Cons: Year 2 and beyond: Minecraft began to hiccup more frequently lag spikes and beyond, not enough to make me quit a game though. Playing with Vindictus I noticed at max settings, fps dropped to 30fps. Gameplay had frequently lag spikes, lots of hiccups. Can no longer play either game at full screen. Kind of dissappointed now after only 2 years. SimCity had to have minimum settings for some graphic properties. (ie lighting, detail, etc.)

Other Thoughts: I tried to format my system one time by formatting it, playing around with data. Somehow it appeared to be a memory leak (missing windows files, windows activation key mysteriously missing one day) I ended up having to wipe the harddrive and reinstall windows.

I gave my machine windows experience index tests throughout the years , and the scores remain similar to what people on here are posting. Graphics Gaming graphics, and Harddisk remain of the lowest scores. Unsure as to why game performance , start up times, accessing memory, become slower now other than age.

Moved much of data storage to external harddrive. So space is not an issue.

1 out of 5 eggs:(

Pros: -

Cons: -

Other Thoughts: Well, I've owned this laptop for about 2 years now. I've put up with this thing for so long because I barely use. I have a desktop that I use on a daily basis. I generally only whip out this laptop when I don't have access to my desktop. I'm a compsci major at a large university. I really wanted to use this laptop to do homework and use it as a development platform. However, it has proven to be way too unstable to be able to get any work done.

I can honestly say that I am severely disappointed with it. I have RMA'd this laptop 3 times. It bluescreens and freezes for no reason at all. It is slow and stutters in simple applications such as google chrome and text editors. This should NEVER happen with this laptop. The specs on this thing are pretty impressive for a laptop. Many programs just refuse to run(ex: program not responding dialogue box). It is extremely inconsistent with performance and stability.

I really just don't know what to do about it anymore. MSI has not fixed this thing for the 3 times I RMA'd it. At this point, I would much rather just have my money back instead of letting it collect dust.

4 out of 5 eggsit's ok , still going strong

Pros: fast, update the bios or else the cpu takes a dive (slow) in battery are nice, still holding up right now....sturdy....good for processing things.

Cons: I hate the mouse's got a "grainy" feel to it and sometimes when I work a lot and my hands start to sweat then the mouse pad wont recognize my finger and really annoys the heck out of me...oh and the grainy feel is starting to fade in the center now...personally i preffer a smooth even pad vs this. not good for high endurance work flow. this is why i knocked out 1 egg.

Other Thoughts: I want to sell this and buy me a different one now...idk the mouse pad is really getting to me lately ....USB 3.0 doesn't seem like it even makes a difference in speed or I may need to update it. idk

2 out of 5 eggsGood Product, Terrible Warranty

Pros: Great configuration
Haven't had problems till recently

Cons: The LCD screen cracked internally despite being fully protected in the case.

I send it to MSI with an RMA and they charge me $240+ for a replacement. This is a bit ridiculous given how the cracks were internal and likely caused by the casing which, overtime, was starting to fall apart. They say the best they can do is offer me a small discount off of a price which is already twice what I could get it repaired for elsewhere.

Other Thoughts: Funny thing is I was debating whether to buy a MSI or an ASUS as my next gaming laptop. I guess that answers that.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Bang for the Buck

Pros: The price for performance on this is insane...

It feels solid, looks professional, and games well enough.

Sure, there are better GPU's out there, but this one seems to play everything I throw at it just fine without any heat or performance problems.

Cons: Came with a 5400RPM hard drive and has a warranty sticker covering a screw that you have to take out to get to anything in the laptop.

Other Thoughts: Other complaints about the lack of a physical eject button on the optical drive and the slightly odd keyboard are fair, but really haven't created any problems for me.

I am quite pleased with the quality and performance.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Bang for the Buck

Pros: The price for the performance is insane...

Unlike other gaming laptops I've played with, the case is solid with a professional look and the fit in finish is really quite good.

I've played TF2 and Portal on it for a few hours with everything maxed out and haven't had any problems with heat or performance.

There definitely better GPU's out there, but what I got for my money on this one makes me not care.

Cons: Mine shipped with a 5400rpm hard drive. I wouldn't normally ding it for this except that, to install a faster one, I had to void the warranty because they place a warranty stick right over a screw that you have to take out to get to anything inside the laptop.

Other Thoughts: I did put a 7200rpm drive in mine after a few weeks and am happy I did, but this is really a better quality laptop than I expected for these specs at this price.

4 out of 5 eggsGood enough

Pros: Perfect for rendering and exporting music. Audio quality is great!!!...Lightweight....I don't know why people keep saying bad things about the keys, they don't get in the way like other keyboards. well laid out. soft to the touch. Great for gaming! Skyrim = full graphics.

Cons: Batt. may get warm....The mousepad needs work, it's uncomfortable after a while of using it. Like me, I use this laptop for audio editing, producing. The touchpad can get annoying because it has these little "blindman" dots on it.. if you have sweaty fingers, you may get annoyed how sometimes the pad wont recognize your finger. That's why I gave it 4 eggs....may not seem like a big deal but after countless hours of can get bothersome.

One last thing...that little S-BAR can get annoying too but so far it hasn't gotten in my path of work. So it's OK! for now.

Other Thoughts: Great machine overall. You get the speed, graphics, memory, space, MSI is a good company. what got me was the 1080p and processing speed. Thanks Newegg.....btw where is my rebate?

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Lappy for the price

Pros: 1080p, 8GB RAM, i7, 802.11 b/g/n, very lightweight DTR, awesome battery life for a gamer (2.5+ hrs playing DAoC on battery w/o external monitor)

Cons: no control over graphics card, keyboard not backlit, bloatware, wierd HDD config (351/234GB + hidden reboot sector)

Other Thoughts: Bought & use a Zalman ZM-NC100 lappy cooler to keep temps down (otherwise the internal fans kick in and the system bogs), immediately upgraded to Win 7 64 Pro, logical layout of ports for most configurations. Can support a 42” full 1080p HD monitor to game with at frame rates. DAoC (55-60 FPS), SWTOR (5-35 FPS), WWII Online (45-55 FPS), Hellgate (100-120 FPS), using FRAPS. Power brick not as massive as people complain about, but not a little thing, either. 15.6” makes it easy to carry & fits most PC backpacks. Minimalist branding does not make me feel like I am advertizing & the overall appearance belies the power of the laptop, minimizing the theft factor. Kensington lock is tight fit with the power cable in place.
Also, this is powerful enough to run DAoC in windowed mode, and several instances of Word, Excel, Project, and Visual Studio 2010 and SQL Server 2008, simultaneously, while jamming out to iTunes and monitoring with Wireshark, FRAPS, and SpeedFan.
Would definitely recomme

1 out of 5 eggsNot good at all

Pros: It's fast, it's got a reasonably big screen and a big keyboard

Cons: The keyboard is incredibly poorly laid out. The touchpad is off center so your right hand will hit it. Several important keys like home and end are only usable as alt/FN keys. There is no hardware way to open the cd/dvd player. Absolutely no support for linux so many of the keys don't work like brightness, eject, etc and the camera and sound don't work without a great deal of putzing around with it. USB connecters are in inconvenient places on the sides, no connectors on the back at all. Very hot and the fan exhausts to the left of the laptop which takes up a lot of space on the side and generates a lot of heat on that side.

Other Thoughts: I've never used a laptop I disliked more. Sure, some of the fault is mine for not researching the linux support ahead of time thoroughly enough. I accept that. However, the design and layout of the thing would make it uncomfortable and annoying to use regardless of OS.
