5 out of 5 eggsbeast

Pros: faster than a speeding bullet..I can open 10 instances of c++, starcraft 2, eclipse, all with no lag

Cons: A little loud sometimes.
The left fan next to the touchpad makes a lot of noise..But when I press on it the noise stops..wth?

afraid im going to break the screen when I lift it up...The whole screen area seems a little shoddy

Other Thoughts: FAST, worth the money, the construction is a little shoddy but you still get a lot.. A comparable alienware would cost probably 1000 more. Also, MSI is reputable when it comes to hardware. I wonder how they can afford to sell this beast for so cheap

1 out of 5 eggsBad Screen/Video Card

Pros: Very satisfied with it's performance when it worked.

Cons: 40 days after I had it, lines would appear on the screen, not an issue on the external screen. Issue became progressively worse. MSI did give me a RMA...but I have to mail it back on my dime. The laptop and power supply are extremely mailing back costing over $40. Would not recommend.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Happy!

Pros: Paid just $1250.00 on BF!!! You CANNOT beat that price for a new gaming laptop! High end CPU & Graphics card, 12MB RAM, RAID 0 500GB HDD, plays MW3 and SC2 without a hiccup!

Cons: All-plastic build. A lot of people dropped an egg for this, but I think that's going too far. It's a laptop after all...All laptops I've owned were made of plastic...Just don't drop it...Duh! :)

Not really much of a "con," but I dislike that I have to format my system to get rid of the back-up system that's pre-installed. I'm simply too lazy right now.

Other Thoughts: A friend of mine who always comes over to LAN had purchased this EXACT laptop (but with the GTX 560m) back in August. He really liked it and it seemed relatively impressive to me so I decided to get this....and don't have a single regret! :)

I went with the GTX 570 over the GTX 560 for $80 more and am happy I did. VideoCardBenchmark shows a ~400 point difference in the cards. Even Windows' basic benchmark tool gives my GTX 570 a 7.3 score over my buddies GTX 560, which scores 7.2

HIGHLY recommended gaming laptop for the price. Can't be beat!

4 out of 5 eggsB3 Beta driver

Pros: 570m nvidia

Cons: No official beta 570m nvidia drivers
more flex to keyboard than like
keyboard not backlit
Battery not charging past 83%. Send whole unit notebk back
"Battery failed - replace battery." Basically, send whole notebk back
MSI RMA process - send notebook on your own dime, hope you can live without notebook for some weeks on end

Other Thoughts: With nvidia B3 beta download, since 570m isn't officially supported, download a replacement nvwi.inf file from laptoptogo. When you execute the B3 beta driver exe file, it extracts the files, creates some subdirectories and starts to run the setup. Cancel out, go to the Display.Driver directory, paste the replacement nvwi.inf file in it to overwrite the exisiting one, and execute setup.exe. Good to go!
setup.exe file and you should be good.

1 out of 5 eggsNo Geforce Drivers

Pros: Nice build quality and excellent performance.

Cons: No support for the Geforce 570m Video Card from MSI or Nvidia. Can't Play Battlefield 3 Beta, Can't Play Rage, and others because of outdated drivers and no support on Nvidia's website or MSIs.

5 out of 5 eggsSimply amazing

Pros: It has all of the features that would make this a great laptop for gaming and productivity. Having a 15.6in screen with 1080p is simply amazing. The laptop is very portable. The i7 is amazing even without putting on Turbo mode this laptop handles BFBC2, MoH, Shift 2, and many others with ease. The cooler booster feature really kicks up that fan and eliminates the heat from the system. But most important is that Video card. This is where all the good stuff happens. I was not willing to go cheap on that. Wanted one of the best so that I will be able to run the latest games for years to come. Benchmarks of the 12gb vs 16gb RAM show virtually difference.

Cons: The LED lights around the computer do not work properly. First day they were fine. Once I pushed the button to turn them off they have not worked correctly since then. Not really a big issue, disappointed in it not working, but not why I got this Laptop.

The keyboard layout is slightly different then my old laptop and I find myself sliding over the mouse pad when typing cause my cursor to move somewhere else. I'll get use to it and I am sure I can turn it off and jsut use my external mouse.

Hdd configuration is a little disappointing. HDD1 has 465gb available after the OS install but the 2 HDD has only 368gb available for data. This second drive holds the system restore and all the bloatware the auto installs when you start up the PC. THe restore/software is not accessible to be deleted without reformatting it from what I see.

Other Thoughts: Price comparison against the Alienware brand is huge. MSI is much better and I have many MSI components in my Desktops. Never been disappointed. Great specs and has all that one would need for a few years. Came packaged within 3 boxes.

I am a gamer and web design/graphic artist in my spare time. I own a gaming community forum and am constanly testing new gaming in beta sessions all the time. This computer will meet your needs and the price is perfect for what you get.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: I love the laptop so far. Runs everything I've thrown at it smooth as silk. BC 2, Dues Ex, Dead Island, SWTOR. Nice sound and love the 1080p screen. I've always preferred the glossy screens as I never game outside or in public places.

Cons: The only big problem I had with the Laptop, is with MSI's policy that you have to mail in proof of purchase in order to get your full warranty. I have a serious problem with that. And if I had known about it prior to purchasing the Laptop I would not have bought it. It's a shady business practice that seems kinda messed up if you ask me. I just spent 1600 bucks on a product and you expect me to mail you proof of purchase like I'm trying to redeem a prize for some lame contest.

Other Thoughts: I love the product and its performed flawlessly so far. Not sure Ill ever purchase anything else from MSI though due to there business practices.

5 out of 5 eggsLOVE IT!!!

Pros: My 1st brand new laptop since my Dell XPS M1710 finally died after 6 years. Kinda wish it died sooner :P

This MSI laptop is awesome, 12GB RAM, video card is just amazing. Love the lights, I'm nerdy like that. Have it set to 'breathing' mode (fade in and out). Can set it to synch with mp3 I just learned, but haven't tried it yet.

The different power modes are nifty, when I'm in class I set it to 'turbo battery' mode and record my lectures, 3+ hours. When I game, AC adapter goes in, turbo boost the i7 proc, engage the fan (yes it's loud) and AWAAAAAAAY I GO :D

The touch buttons are awesome, wireless card is fast but I do jack in when I can. Bluetooth allows me to use my BT headsets to receive the sound when I game, and the HDs are 72000RPM but...

Cons: maybe it's just me, but I haven't been able to get Skype or Ventrilo microphone to goto my bluetooth headset. I can receive sound just fine, but it still uses the embedded mic next to the webcam.

It says on the sticker 1TB in RAID 0, and I briefly see it during boot, but when I'm in Windows 7 premium desktop, it displays C: as the OS install (and the default where the majority of my programs go) and the D: as 368GB open. Would like it as one 'whole' raided drive, but that's just me.

Touchpad left/right click buttons do require a 'tad' more effort but no big deal to me.

Even with all that, I can't - an egg.

Other Thoughts: Thought my unit was broken when the Turbo button wouldn't work unless the AC adapter was plugged in, wanted to see how much battery life there really was when absolutely everything was switched on. I mean, why can I engage the fan during battery, but not the turbo boost?

Would also like to find out why I can output the mic to my bluetooth headset, and how to make it a 'true' raided 1TB drive. Tried searching and haven't found anything. Will update.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat bang for the buck

Pros: -Fast CPU and GPU
-Plenty of memory (I did put in a 4gb GSkill to make an even 16gb since it was so cheap)
-Dual hard drive slots, I need the space so I kept them in RAID 0 like it came
-Great screen quality
-Very good speaker sound
-USB 3.0 is fast, I grabbed a couple 3.0 drives to use as backups
-GTX570M is very overclockable
-battery life is awesome! Without having to mess with switching GPU's and driver issues. I can eek out 4 hrs with minimal settings, and 3 hrs is more typical with a few more things turned up. That is great for a gaming laptop!

Cons: I wish it had a backlit keyboard, that is all I could think of

Other Thoughts: I struggled between getting at 17" or 15" model, but since I've had plenty of 17's before and really wanted a more portable system I decided to get this one. It is amazing how that small difference helps out. I have a sleeve that I can put this is and just carry it by itself to work each day. Now THAT is something I could never do with 12 lb dual GPU notebooks with 1 hr battery life.

Ironically this thing actually beats my m17x r2 in some games that did not work well with crossfire. Plus it is nice to not have to mess around with crossfire/SLI settings just to get a game to run properly.

Another nice thing about going to a smaller display than I'm used to, is if I had to I could lower the resolution in games and it is much less noticable. This is important because when games get harder for this thing to run at good settings I can lower the resolution a notch to keep the FPS up and it is barely noticable.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice.

Pros: What can i say?

- Gorgeous HD LCD panel for viewing
- Extraordinary sound quality. (Excellent for plugging in a headset)
- Keyboard is very gentle and easy to type on, my fingers are gliding over the keys as i type.
- GTX 570 is full of win.
- I7 is blazing fast almost no lag
- 12 gigs of ram is a bit ridiculous... but hey why the hell not.

It's perfect for all but one flaw.

That said i feel as though an I7 running at 70+ degrees Celsius is too high and have to turn on the loud annoying turbo fan. Other than this minor detail (wear headphones and you kind of dont even hear it). ummm

it's awesome.

was going to take an egg off for the noise but its too brutal of a machine to do that... I couldn't be happier. I was going to spend 2400 on an a ware but decided not too when i seen these bad boys with better specs for cheaper.

Other Thoughts: GTX 570... nvidia website has no drivers yet. was kind of like brand new!?
