5 out of 5 eggsUpdate for Received GT60

Pros: Meets/beats expectations in all areas.

Cons: Sound quality is TERRIBLE!

Other Thoughts: Upgraded from a Dell L502X with 2.1 JBL speakers. I wish I could swap the Dynaudio speakers with the Dell as L502X has quite possibly the best sounding internal laptop speaker set-up of any manufacturer past or present to include HP's Beats Audio.

Other than the poor audio quality, the GT60 is a fantastic buy which I recommend to anyone looking for a gaming laptop.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty Darned Good

Pros: Very Fast, Very efficient. Bought it as a portable gaming rig and have been extremely pleased with it for the most part. Haven't played with alot of the 'gizmos', but I haven't uninstalled the 'bloat' and i don't find it intrusive. Plays every game I've thrown at it at very high settings, though after I updated the driver it started to freeze alot in WoW. Fix below...

Cons: Power brick is like a portable nuclear power plant. Its HUGE! But the latop is ginormous too, so I guess that's expected. The keyboard is neat with the glowy lights and customizeable LED's, but I think the keyboard sucks, unlike others here. Firstly, its a litlle 'warpy' as in its visibly 'off' if you look at it from the right angle. The spacebar is pure trash, i often have to go back and re-add the spaces after a long sentence, or worse, paragraph. Unless you hit it dead center it doesn't register often. I also seem to have some kind of 'chip' on the screen which really freaking annoys me, I've had this since the day it was released, but I didn't notice the little chip in the screen until recently when an extremely bright game exposed it and it wouldn't 'wipe off' GRRRRR! The MSI update utility is crummy too, I had to update the graphics drivers manually, which was a lesson in pain since at first nVidia gave me the 'download from your manufacturer' run around when I first tried to install it. Seems to work now though...but I just had alot of freezing issues...

Other Thoughts: ...resolved the freezing by disabling vertical sync in every game I played that experienced it. WoW in particular, but the FPS would drop to 0 and hang. It was just an out of the blue stab in the dark that I disabled v-sync and it seems to have mostly resolved my issues with game freezes after the driver updates direct from nVidia. Not sure why the video drivers aren't directly downloaded from the MSI utility, but since i can download them now directly from nVidia, its not a 'gamebreaker'. I wish I would have noticed that chip/gouge in the screen earlier...its like the 'Telltale Heart' now that I noticed it >:(

5 out of 5 eggsJust Ordered/Next day delivery pending

Pros: Phenomenal specs for less than $1.5K and 8 out of 10 point-score reviews from most users and pro-reviews.

Cons: Yet to be determined...

Other Thoughts: Originally ordered a Lenovo Y580 through Lenovo directly, but was originally given a 30-day window to build and ship... This changed to an additional 30 days as there are some parts for the Y580 that are unavailable.

I canceled the Lenovo order because of the ridiculous build/ship timeline and even though the GT60 cost a little over $250 more, after doing some research found that the MSI is a better overall buy considering the interns are far better spec than the Y580.

1 out of 5 eggsUnresolved Issue.

Pros: Neat design...love the steelseries keyboard...great screen resolution..

Cons: Working to resolve

Other Thoughts: Unfortunately I purchased the first on back in aug....still have not been able to use the laptop for more than an hour without problems...The first one I received was promptly replaced by Newegg...Received the second unit...had problems right away with laptop freezing, unable to pull up webpages, programs crashing..Sent back second unit for replacement. Received an email from newegg inspection team saying laptop was not defective and to contact MSI. Received the 2nd laptop back again...still freezing, not pulling up webpages, programs crashing...Will contact MSI to see if they can repair this laptop...have restored to factory settings 3 times with no results...Can't keep installing programs and then doing factory resets.. The programs are compatible with windows 7 and work on other brands makes and models of laptops...I am hoping to get this issue resolved so I can write a glowing report next time..

2 out of 5 eggsLaptop is great... dealing with MSI is not

Pros: Specs are great and runs every game well
Cool keyboard, great screen
Laptop came quickly

Cons: The power adapter was broken out of the box. When plugged in, the power indicator in Windows was constantly switching between battery and plugged in, and the computer couldn't utilize its processing power while on battery power, meaning my games were not able to run.

I understand that stuff breaks sometimes - but the adapter was broken OUT OF THE BOX. This was a very expensive investment and it's frustrating to not be able to use it after I received it.

I contacted MSI and they had me ship the power adapter back to the company for testing, saying the RMA would take 5-10 business days. This surprised me - I was hoping to get a new one shipped out to me, and I didn't want to wait that long, but I decided to trust them. After two and a half weeks I have not heard anything, and calling MSI does not help. I called tech support, which said they couldn't help me, instead transferring me to customer support. I would be on hold for about five minutes, then be transferred back to the main menu as if I had just called - this would loop forever, meaning I could never speak to customer support. Talk about frustrating! Being on hold is one thing - being reconnected endlessly is another. And I can't spend forever trying to figure out how to actually get connected with their customer service department.

A laptop is only as good as the company supporting it. In this case, I spent a large chunk of money only to be treated like dirt. I should not have to jump through hoops to use the product I paid for, and I am certainly not going to buy another power adapter when I already paid for one.

Buyer beware - MSI is not a fun company to deal with if you have any broken parts. It's a shame because the laptop really is great.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop for what I need it for

Pros: Discrete card handles everything I've thrown at it.
Keyboard is GREAT.
Perfect screen size for my use.
Doesn't look super nerdy like most gaming laptops.
Amazing processor speeds from what I'm used to, that being said I'm coming from an i3 Mobile so that is to be expected...

Cons: I'm not a big fan of the touchpad, creates a lot of friction between my finger and it. This is a gaming computer though, so if you are getting this I would assume that you are like me and use an external gaming mouse most of the time, therefore this con is nullified.

Other Thoughts: When I got it it came with an Xbox, was a great deal.
People have mentioned its weight, as a student I'm used to lugging around textbooks and this thing feels light as a feather compared to those, if you're used to carrying anything of weight you'll have no trouble with this.
Runs BF3, Crysis, Tf2, Borderlands 2, LoL and any other game that are out, those are just the only ones I've played so far.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Lots of memory, nice processor, nice keyboard. Can run Lightroom, Photoshop, and Solidworks with ease.

Cons: Freezes after about 10 minutes of BF3 gameplay. I got this laptop to take a break while on business trips when away from the PC but sadly I can't play the game I bought it for.

Other Thoughts: Would rather have spent my money elsewhere than this expensive paper weight.

5 out of 5 eggsmust buy!!

Pros: Great hardware for the price and I absolutely love the LED keyboard!! On top of that it comes with a free xbox 360 and backpack. As for the complaints about the graphics, this feature is meant to help save energy. It's very easy to switch over from the intel integrated graphics to the nvidia card for any desired application. I am able to run diablo 3 with no problem. Overall, awesome gaming laptop!!

Cons: The price dropped nearly $100 a week after my purchase but it happens. Otherwise none thus far.
