Pros: pros as my other review

Cons: also, the disk drive doesn't work or only part of the time. Maybe it reads BD better than DVD?

Pros: dedicated video card means this laptop will stay competitive for at least another year with up to date drivers and smart ownership. Beautiful keyboard display, matte finish on monitor makes it viewable from several angles.
Wow, the ethernet port. You're not going to want to bother with wireless if you're on a decent cable line.
Great on board sound means enjoyable sound quality without speakers or headset. Optimus is okay for battery life though cumbersome if you forgot you left your IGPU turned on (11 FPS IGPU vs 38 FPS DGPU on GW2, Ultra settings), so ignore the bad reviews complaining about optimus, left click and go to the nvidia control panel.
There's a setting to turn up fan speed which has a slight, yet noticeable effect on temp. Still runs pretty warm so don't hesitate to get a cooling pad. There's even an "turbo" setting which supposedly overclocks the settings, though most games can still be ran at ultra with it off.
Aesthetically pleasing if thats what you're into, black aluminium finish with lots of angles, control over keyboard colors.
Worth the investment!

Cons: This thing is huge. No, really, you're going to think otherwise until you have to replace your backpack. There are certainly bulkier and uglier machines out there.
It seems like some of the functions keys don't work? Specifically the eco setting. Also, the keyboard is lifting up from the bottom right corner (by enter on the number pad) though its not the most used keys so I'm not worried about it (yet). I think the lift came because I've wanged that corner of my laptop on walls or desks or whatever once or twice, so again, the size (worth the power, though). If its going to break, let it break before the 20th so I can get some sort of replacement.

Other Thoughts: worth it worth it worth it. A steal for this price, unless you want to build a desktop, which you could get the same if not better specs for -$600

2 out of 5 eggsPOOR SERVICE

Pros: Good looking, has good sound and keyboard best I've ever used.

Cons: Computer arrived, unpacked and inspected. Found 3 keys had defects but not worth sending back. Computer has been working just fine until I wanted to use the WIDI function. Did the best I could to get working but couldn't. Called tech and the said computer capable of WIDI function. Tried again and for several days. They told me to reset computer but had to wait to purchase an external hard drive. Called back and when tech asked problem and told him he acted as though he never heard of it. Also, they are of French decent so communication is worse than poor. His final answer was to go to MSI online and use to get WIDI working. Now there is a charging issue and answer from MSI was to go to web site for guidance. Now I can't even return the computer as I've had it over 30 days so if you buy one, better be knowledgeable in computer repair.

Other Thoughts: Wish I went with first instinct and looked harder at name brands. I've had three name brands over the years and yes had issues but they knew what to do to fix or had me send it in which they paid shipping both ways.

Pros: I've had the laptop a day now, and I'm really getting to like it. I know several have had complaints about aspects of the laptop, but I haven't found any yet. It starts up fast, runs well and does everything that I need it to.

Cons: I just haven't found any yet

Other Thoughts: I thought I knew how big this beast was going to be, but was surprised when it got here. I bought this, in part, to be my main computer in engineering school, but I'll have to find a bigger bag to lug it around in!

5 out of 5 eggs12 Second Boot :)

Pros: More ram than ill need for now

Graphics are great, thankyou NVIDIA

Can add an aditional ssd, there is room for it

Enough drive clearance to replace the 750GB WD Black drive with a 1TB VelociRaptor that is thicker than normal 2.5" drives.

can right click on any exe and choose the default videocard the app should run with. Saves Battery.

Cons: UEFI Linux Support - I dont know if i want to open that barell of monkeys.

Virtualization support is limited, does not support x64 guest out of the box

Opening the underside of the laptop voids your msi warranty. Which is lame if you want to add an additional SSD.

Other Thoughts: Some people look at the cons and think i would have rated this lower. I have a friend that modifies bios's for fun and i am experimenting with implementing features that aren't included with the stock bios. Overall i think these are minor obstacles with this laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing! Great performance with a little bit of work

Pros: -Extremely fast processor and great RAM (DDR3 1600)
-Great price
-SSD is very fast (500 MB/s down and 200 MB/s up)
-Western Digital 7200 RPM HDD
-Full HD display with a high pixel density
-Keyboard lights up and you can change the color of the LED's (MSI Keyboard Light Manager)
-Great sound card with great support for surround (THX Studio Pro)
-Some fan control (touch button above keyboard)
-Speakers sound amazing
-Room for another mSata SSD
-Runs very cool when under light/medium load (fan does a pretty good job)
-Turbo mode - seems to increase performance, but very slightly
-Battery lasts long considering what it has to power (4 hours with not much open, 1.5-2 hours of gaming)
-Epic Ethernet card, top of the line!

Cons: -Keyboard does not pick up really light keystrokes or too many keystrokes at the same time
-Comes with Windows 8
-You should update the Realtek Sound driver, using a program like Drivermax, the updated driver gives you a 10 band equalizer
-NVIDIA Optimus switches to the integrated graphics when you go to your desktop, when you open up your game, it takes a minute to switch the card back on

Other Thoughts: -Huge power adapter (as expected)
-Very thick (as expected)
-Plugged in my headphones and the I heared the rear surround speakers, make sure to turn off surround in the THX Studio Pro settings
-Why would you ever use the pre-installed OS? There is not a lot of bloatware but the performance increase is amazing.
-Windows 8 is awful and unusable.
-Had to install the a Windows 7 BIOS, I used a tool from the MSI User Forum, if you do this, make sure to turn the BIOS settings from UEFI to Legacy (Under Boot, Boot Mode) in order to boot from the DVD drive or external USB Device
-Installed windows 7 and it runs like a dream, if you are going to spend this much on a laptop, you might as well put some effort into reinstalling
-Make sure to back up your drivers with a program like drivermax before reinstalling
-You can find help at MSI user forum forum-en.msi
-Use Seans SSD Guide
-Remove Windows 7 Service Pack 1 files with cmd - just google it
-Disable the pagefile and hyberfile
-Turn the power settings to performance
-Update the graphics drivers - use the drivers provided by the CD, then go to Geforce Website and download the latest version and install. Windows experience index goes from 6.9 to 7.5!
-Really gets the attention of others

4 out of 5 eggsOverall Impressed

Pros: Packaged and built very well. This is my first gaming laptop and so far I am very impressed with the speed and graphics. This plays ever game I currently own at maxed resolutions- and very quietly. Almost no startup time when powering on. Very well priced for the amount features and power this machine has.

Cons: The blueray/disc drive seems a little touchy. Sometimes when putting in games or movies you either have to manually start them or eject multiple times before it automatically reads the disc.

Other Thoughts: As mentioned- I called MSI tech support regarding the disc drive issue. They recommend I send back to Newegg- which I did. After not having my new laptop for nearly 2-weeks it was sent back with them finding nothing wrong. I was kind of assuming that since the unit was brand new and MSI recommend I return it that I would be sent a new unit immediately. Dropping this kind of money on a laptop you expect it to be perfect out of the box. But other than that relatively small issue I would recommend this laptop to anyone.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop, Terrible Keyboard

Pros: In general the laptop feels solidly built and is of mostly high quality. Heat, noise, and performance have not been an issue while playing games like Skyrim, etc.

The audio is also good for a laptop, and having Windows available on the SSD makes start-up a breeze.

Cons: Upon starting up the laptop for the first time I noticed that both the 'a' and 's' keys barely work. In order to get any response out of then I need to press down extremely hard, and even then it is hit-or miss.

Obviously all of the keys should work on a new laptop, but it's especially bothersome that two of the WSAD keys would be immediately broken on a gaming laptop.

I'm going to have to send it back and hope that the next keyboard is of higher quality.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible keyboard bad newegg costumer service

Pros: The system itself was I really like the product except the keyboard

long story short quality of the keyboard failed on

Cons: After a month of barely using it since I have my old desktop to play most of my games one day I started I decided to use for a certain demanding game my letter v key on my keyboard fell of I don't even use it for like a week..how can this happen especially for this kind of expensive notebook..

Other Thoughts: Tried to contact newegg for rma/repair refuses to return or even repair..and told me to contact msi about the problem
wow..i guess they don't value customer that much..how horrible..and then told me I cant even use my extended warranty too.and I paid 99 dollars for it

Well newegg you just lost your 3 year loyal customer good b
