5 out of 5 eggsI'm happy

Pros: The main reason why I bought this was for games, and it does not disappoint. Besides gaming, I'm studying computer science, and compared to my last laptop the keyboard is waaaay better. On top of that, the little switch above the touch pad turns it off, making typing that much easier. Battery life is pretty good when not gaming, maybe around 3-4 hours.

I didn't want something more powerful because I was afraid of it being too heavy, too bulky. The size if perfect for taking to school everyday. I like that the design isn't anything special looking, it doesn't draw attention.

Cons: Windows 8 PERIOD. I gave it a shot once i got the laptop. It was ok... what really threw me off were the number of processes running in the background, laptop felt slower than it should be, so I formatted to windows 7 and now everything is instantaneous.

Would have been nice if the monitor was 1920x1080. No worries though, it still looks really nice. It feels a lot sturdier than my last laptop, but in a cheap way. Not much of a gripe though.

Other Thoughts: Overall, for the price this is one of the best. I recommend buying it.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -Will run just about every program the average PC user will use, all at the same time, with little fuss (Running Portal, League of Legends, multiple tabs Google Chrome, and iTunes while writing this. Task Manager says CPU is at 21%).
-Negligible lag when switching between different applications (Installed multiple programs while playing League of Legends in fullscreen, with maxed visuals).
-Runs fairly cool, even without a cooling pad. Fan actually blows out cold air unless the laptop's been on for hours. Even then, after being up and running for 6 or 7 hours, output heat is negligible.

Cons: -HDD speed isn't as fast as it could be. It seems to be the piece of hardware that gets it the hardest when I try to test out how taxing I can be with the system.
-Right-hand shift and return keys are a little short. Small gripe, I know, but it can get annoying when you constantly hit the up arrow instead of shift.
-Only 3 USB ports. Again, a small gripe. I feel naked with less than 4.
-Windows 8. Admittedly, this was almost a deal-breaker when I was shopping for this computer. I hadn't dealt with Windows 8 extensively before I purchased this machine, but I found it to be much less of a hassle than I'd been led to believe. Don't get me wrong, I'm still not a fan of the new Metro (or whatever they're calling it these days) Start screen, but a good 95% of the things you're used to in Windows 7 are still here, just scattered about. I spend the first 3 or 4 hours (while I was waiting for essential programs to download/install) switching things around to be more like the Windows 7 set-up. It's a minor inconvenience, not a world-ending mishap.

Other Thoughts: First of all, take everything I say with a grain of salt. I did benchmark a lot of CPUs and GPUs and compare prices thereof before I bought this machine, but I'm no computer expert.

That said, I'm generally very pleased with this machine. I've compared it directly to laptops owned by my classmates. Many of them spent upwards of $800 for $250 worth of machinery soldered to a touchscreen. Comparatively, this machine is well worth the price.

It's worth it to keep in mind, though, that I haven't tested the hardware on anything very recent. It plays Portal 1 on max graphics just fine. 0 lag, fps smooth as a dream.

If you're just looking for a machine that will let you Skype your Facebook friends while you Tweet about the 10 page paper you're too busy playing Candy Crush to finish, this machine will certainly get the job done, but then, so would one that is $300 cheaper.
