The mSATA SSD compared to HDD, It can speed up read-write time for faster boot-ups and quicker response times. You'll be impressed with the mSATA SSD's superior read-write performance.

High-Definition Multimedia Interface
The S12T HDMI output not only delivers super-fast 5GB per second data rates, but it also reduces cable clutter, while ensuring the best possible video quality. By taking advantage of HDMI, the S12T can render game scenes with spectacular clarity and realism, making it a great choice for the next generation of both PC and online games.
The latest Bluetooth 4.0 technology
The major improvement of Bluetooth 4.0 over 3.0 is that devices transfer much more data, using less power. Devices can also connect and begin transferring data in as little as 3 milliseconds. It uses the AES-128 CCM authenticated encryption algorithm, ensuring better security.
Classic brushed aluminum finish

Rating: 4/5Great 11.6" Kabini laptop, but you should look elsewhere if that doesn't matter to you
This review is from: MSI Laptop S12T 3M-006US AMD A4-Series A4-5000 (1.50 GHz) 4 GB Memory 750 GB HDD AMD Radeon HD 8330 11.6" Touchscreen Windows 8
Pros: - HDMI out - USB 3.0 is fast - TN panel is bright (if that matters to you) and has fairly decent horizontal viewing angles (vertical is pretty bad though) - Easily upgradable. All the screws you need to take apart the whole laptop are visible on the bottom (save for one; see cons below). The rest of the chassis is held together by plastic tabs. I highly recommend using a set of nylon/plastic pry tools. - Keyboard is good (minimal flex) - Dedicated home, end, and page up/down buttons - Touch screen - Plays a variety of games, even modern, high end ones on low settings - Minimal bloatware - Good looks and brushed metal lid (less noticeable scratches and finger prints) - Strong hinges - Good battery life (4-5 hours with the 3-cell) - No wireless card whitelisting - Very quiet, even under load - Great performance - Removable battery - Very light - Annoying stickers on the front come off fairly easily and leave almost no residue to clean up - Free mSATA/mini PCI-E slot - 2 SO-DIMMs (platform limits memory to single channel however)
Cons: - Warranty void if removed sticker covers the last screw needed to access the internals (see newegg's pictures of the bottom of the laptop). US customers may be protected by the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act though.
- 3-cell battery. I see little reason to not make 6-cell standard.
- My unit has some backlight bleed
- Touch pad isn't great but manageable. However, the drivers for the touchpad are a joke. Can't change very many settings. The worst by far is that, by default, you can not use the touch pad while using the keyboard. There is no software setting for this so you have to go registry diving. Change the value to 0 for this key:
Log out and log back in and it should take affect. If not, try looking for DisableWhenType keys under HKEY_CURRENT_USER instead.
MSI, use synaptic instead of this elan trash next time.
- Minimal BIOS settings (F11 to get to the BIOS)
- TN panel instead of IPS display. Seems kind of silly when cheaper laptops/tablets do come with an IPS display.
- You pretty much need to take apart the whole laptop to access the internal wireless/bluetooth card. It sits behind the VGA port.Only 2 antennas (not a con for me, but may be for some)
- Windows 8 instead of 8.1 (it's a free upgrade but with 8.1 out this long it's kind of annoying)
Other Thoughts: I like this laptop and would probably buy it again, especially with the dearth of 11.6" kabini laptops. However, I was only looking for 11.6" AMD kabini laptops. If you're just looking for laptops in general this is kind of a tough sell. Identify what you want in a laptop, and do the research for the best one.
It would have been nice if the whole chassis was metal instead of metal + plastic too.
I was able to successfully upgrade this laptop with a 60GB sandforce patriot pyro SSD and an Intel wireless N 6330. The machine is fast and performing great*. I'm looking forward to putting in an SSD into the mSATA slot and re-adding the 750GB hard drive, but for now I don't need the extra space.
* I do have one issue where the laptop will lock up for about 30 seconds. It's very inconsistent. The event viewer says something about "SATA port reset". Doing some searching on this reveals the stem of the issue to be a driver or window 8 problem (most commonly with SSDs, though not exclusively). If you encounter this the most common fix has been to use the microsoft AHCI drivers instead of the AMD ones. However, I don't think this a problem with the laptop and it probably just my configuration.
