5 out of 5 eggsMSi GS60 Ghost-007

Pros: Best laptop I've ever purchased. Sleek and compact. Very light weight, easy for travel. Super fast and responsive. Great for gaming on the go. The steelseries keyboard is very nice, didn't expect to like it that much. Lighting effects are great for any gamer. Great show piece.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Notebook

Pros: Overall excellent notebook. The size and performance are perfect. Notebook ships with very little bloatware, thought it is still present, it takes maybe 5 minutes to rid you system of it. The notebook is virtually silent under low loads. Battery life is great. The notebook also stays fairly cool even under high loads. Great keyboard.

Cons: Cons:
- Speakers - the speakers are ok, even though they are branded with a label on the body of the notebook, they are just okay.

- Trackpad - I mean, it's a trackpad, but I would have loved to see the implementation of a glass track pad as this would have added more to the premium look and feel of the laptop.

- Fan noise - I don't personally see this as a con as there is a pretty fair amount of horsepower tucked into a very thin form, but under load and running on the NVIDIA GPU this thing makes some noise.

- Fingerprints - While the magnesium alloy material's finish is stunning out of the box, it doesn't stay that way for long. It attracts fingerprints. Also, once there are fingerprints it takes some elbow grease to get them off.

Other Thoughts: All in all, I couldn't be happier with this notebook. For the price and performance, you'll be hard pressed to find a better performer. Not only that, but also one that is as aesthetically pleasing. There is just enough flash to let others who pay attention know that it's a serious machine while blending in with those who aren't paying attention.

4 out of 5 eggsWiFi Issues Solved

Pros: Great system. Comparable systems priced several hundred dollars more (looking at you, Razer) do not outperform this system in any way.

Cons: Crummy trackpad, as others have mentioned. The trackpad does work, however the "tap-to-click" detects even very light movement as a click, and the built in drivers lack the option to disable tap-to-click. However, I use a USB mouse at all times (logitech unified receiver with 1 mouse and 1 trackball) and the software WILL disable the touchpad when a USB mouse is present, if set to do so. Thus, I have had very little problem with the touchpad as I just don't use it.

Other Thoughts: Up until last week, this model has had severe wifi issues. In short, the wifi, bluetooth, and lower-end Intel graphics card are all run through the same Intel controller card on the motherboard, so that when the NVidia card kicks in and the system powers down the Intel graphics, it would also short power to the bluetooth and wifi, causing severe wifi dropouts when gaming.

However, MSI has releases an EFI BIOS update that anyone with a flash drive and the ability to ready simple instructions can install in less than 5 minutes that completely fixes the problem on November 3rd, 2014. I installed it today and all my woes are fixed. The laptop is now, finally, flawless, touchpad notwithstanding. I can now say without reservation you will NOT find ANY better system for the price, anywhere.

5 out of 5 eggsLove It

Pros: Overall a great laptop. Extremely fast, runs ESO very smoothly on highest quality. Matte screen is fantastic, speakers better than previous experience. SO LIGHT.

Cons: Windows 8 is the worst. Ever. Also battery life not great but knew that going in, not what this is designed for.

4 out of 5 eggsAn Excellent First Laptop

Pros: -Screen looks great
-GPU and CPU perform well
-Keyboard is responsive and comfortable to use
-The backlighting is impressive, and easy to customize with the included Steelseries software
-Boot-up is lightning-fast.The SSD is definitely worth it.
-The power button changes color to alert you when the computer switches from the onboard graphics (blue) to the nvidia card (orange).

Cons: -As other reviewers have mentioned, not all the keys are backlit. The F7/F8/F9/F11 keys are not lit on my keyboard. I assume this is due to the space being taken up by computer hardware. It doesn't really bother me while I'm working/playing, but it does when I notice it, and it seems like an odd design choice.
-Less bloatware than I was expecting, but it was still there.
-After hours of prolonged gaming, a few horizontal lines will intermittently flicker across the screen. Apparently, this may happen if some components get too hot. If it gets worse, or starts to happen during regular use, I'll update this review. Hopefully, it's just due to heavy use.
-No other hardware issues after 2 months of heavy use.

Other Thoughts: -I've had very limited experience with the trackpad, since I use a mouse, but the few times I have used it have been relatively painless.
-Ditto the speakers; I use headphones.
-Other people have mentioned that the bezel or construction seems cheap, but it looks and feels solid and well-constructed to me.
-The function key is located where the Windows key is supposed to be (left side of the keyboard). I wasn't able to switch it back using the included software, or even AutHotkey. Probably not a big issue for people who don't use the Windows key a lot, but a bit of an inconvenience for me.
-This is my first laptop, and I could hardly be happier with it.

4 out of 5 eggsUpdate

Pros: Replacement unit has worked flawless. Screen is outstanding as is the keyboard. The speed is also amazing, powerhouse little machine.Runs cool and fan noise not an issue..

Cons: As others have noted, trackpad is difficult to use(slow, semi-unresponsive at times) hopefully a software update can fix.
Lid does feel a little flimsy so care should be used.

Other Thoughts: Opted for replacement instead of refund, took a couple weeks to get everything sorted, newegg came thru with a new replacement. ! Thanks newegg !
As to flimsy screen, only time will tell about durability, this is a ultrabook so weight is important.
Not a lot of bloat-ware, easy to remove.Wifi has not been a issue for me.
minus 1egg for doa and unruly trackpad

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Laptop / Notebook

Pros: Design, Build Quality, Display, CPU, GPU, Memory, Audio, Keyboard, Track-pad Temperatures, etc...

Cons: Nothing major... I don't believe very minor issues should be called "cons"
some things are just preferences...

4 out of 5 eggsQuite pleased

Pros: Thin

This laptop has handled everything I have thrown at it and I am quite happy with it.

Cons: The lid is feels flimsy when you open and close it. I have had to change my habit of opening it from the corner to opening it from the middle.

Bloatware. I believe there were only 3 or 4 things that I uninstalled right off the bat with this computer which is by no means horrible, just something to keep in mind. The uninstalls were straight forward and nothing tried to hang on.

Other Thoughts: My first shipment was essentially DOA either the AC adapter or something along the powerline was bad as it wasn't charging. Newegg was great with getting me a replacement right away,

I ran 8.1 for awhile just to test the waters before I switched it over to arch linux. In linux everything works out of the box other than the Optimus graphics which require bumblebee, and the webcam which I still haven't gotten working.
