Is the screen glossy or matte ?

Screen is matte. If you buy make sure you do the firmware update for the touchpad. It's on the msi website. Fixes all touchpad issues.

What is the average battery life when doing less intensive tasks such as internet browsing or using Microsoft office?

about the SSD Raid 0 setting, is this mean that I could only use as 128GB? Can I turn off the Raid 0 setting & use the two SSD as 256GB?

A RAID 0 setup can be created with disks of differing sizes, but the storage space added to the array by each disk is limited to the size of the smallest disk. For example, if a 120 GB disk is striped together with a 320 GB disk, the size of the array will be 240 GB (120 GB × 2).

Turning off the Raid will simply net you two separate drives, not a single drive.

I would advise keeping the SSD for booting the operating system and other necessary software items, and then simply using a standard platter drive for the majority of your storage needs.

With it configured in this manner, my boot time is just over 8 seconds.

Anyone know what the little hole between the ethernet port and fan is on the right side?

Answering my own question here after actually looking at the manual. It's a battery reset port. If the computer hangs and holding the power button doesn't shut it off, you poke a paperclip in that hole to reset.

This laptop can deal with an external monitor of 3840x2160p at 60hz by displayport  or it would be limited to 30hz?

Is this a good laptop for college purposes? I need a good gaming laptop that will also serve my needs as a CS Major.

I'm not sure what your needs will be for Computer Science but this is an excellent gaming laptop. I purchase 2 of these. One for myself back in Nov 2014 and I love it so much I bought one in May 2015 for my wife. I have the 3GB 970M with 4K display (great for UHD photo editing) on mine and she has the 6GB 970M with 1080P display. We love them both. I game a lot more than she does and I can tell you this laptop is a beast. I play GTA 5 on high with no stuttering. I also play FFXIV with max setting and I hit 70 -80 FPS no prob.
