5 out of 5 eggs5 Star

Pros: Worked great the day I bought it and for many years after! It's still running 2014 :)

Cons: It's been overheating, but that's due to YEARS of use. Prolly just needs a new fan or video card... But hey it still works!

3 out of 5 eggsNOT a geek

Pros: This laptop does exactly what I need it to do with no problem. I LOVE my portable computer and use it all the time now. The desktop is only for possible emergencies. My brother suggested this site for purchasing something reasonably and he was quite correct. It is exactly what I needed. My computer came right to my house and has made me deliriously happy ever since. Thanks to newegg for the great deal I got.

Cons: My problem comes in with attempting to use a warranty that supposedly would totally replace my computer if needed within the space of 2 years after the original warranty expired. The little spring in my battery compartment was broken the very first time I opened it the little plastic piece was already cracked. The two year warranty apparently does not cover this small piece and so the extra money I spent was for nothing. Next time I will not purchase a warranty.

5 out of 5 eggsSo Many HPs

Pros: It works great. Haven't had any problems with it yet.

Cons: The extra keys on side of the main keyboard tend to throw you off from time to time when typing.

4 out of 5 eggsHP

Pros: Decent laptop. I bought it on sale for some one. I set it up for them and they like it.

Cons: The media keys are aligned on the left of the keyboard. It is annoying because it offsets where you are use to the tab, shift, ctrl is etc.

Other Thoughts: Bought on sale.

For those of you complaining about the restore partition being to large. I guess that is true. I remember it being larger than normal. For users complaining there is no Windows OS DVD or Restore discs come with this notebook. I am not sure where you have been but most computers for the last 6 years do not come with them.

5 out of 5 eggsHP 625 DEAD

Pros: When it worked, it had a nice long battery life.

Cons: My wife bought this laptop for her business in Feb. Now that it's August the laptop on regular shutdown won't restart. No, POST on power up. Shuts down within 4 seconds.

Other Thoughts: The speakers had no volume. It didn't bother my wife too much as she regularly uses earbuds when she is using this.

I had replaced the screen after she closed it on a jelly bean but that was several months ago...

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Well

Pros: Good working, very few problems, it has whats necessary to get the job done, and has some pretty good specs for its price

Cons: Doesn't have the best processor or starting amount of RAM

Other Thoughts: My laptop had one faulty screw but it was easily fixed, otherwise its a great laptop that gets everything I need done.

1 out of 5 eggsMonkey Business

Pros: It has a hard drive

Cons: Cheap plastic and it gets really hot. AMD processors are known for getting hot. It has one speaker a.k.a. mono. It has a hidden 20 gig partition that you get no access to unless you totally format your hard drive and start over. But wait you can't do that because HP sends you no recovery disk.

Other Thoughts: Buy a different laptop unless you want something that will probably over heat and die on you. Buy an extended warranty if you plan on getting this bad deal.

4 out of 5 eggsBest laptop I own so far!

Pros: 1366 resolution - ATI HD graphics chip, Speed, Memory.

Dual Core. Makes a great Linux machine.

Cons: Micro$oft Tax. - with no CD!

Wi-Fi didn't work - Hard Drive Ran HOT! - Outrageous Partitioning on the Harddrive., all primaries are used up.

Other Thoughts: Removed bottom cover and found clip came off of wireless module ( I really like the cover :) . Plugged it back in, booted up. Range not so good (I got a great external unit :) .
Ran it for a while and felt a lot of heat on bottom. Took cover off again and felt the harddrive. Hot as toaster, put drive in external USB enclosure with lid off and ran OK so no lost drive. Replaced with Kingston 16 gig SSD. Partitioned SSD with 4 different Linux Distros. Found I liked Linux Mint 10 and Puppy 5.25 the best. Movies on Mint were great, even better via HDMI out to an Acer 20" LED-LCD monitor using VLC movie player. Puppy looked incredible when ATI HD X-Driver was used, Puppy also runs completely in memory so with 3 gigs it's sittin on a missile. Love the hardware. Love watching Movies on it. Self powered soundbar and sub for sound from earphone jack = great experience. Love NewEgg. Great prices and service.

4 out of 5 eggsdoes the job

Pros: very minimalist approach, which I like - the keyboard area is clean and clear of dumb stuff other manufacturers put on there. Headphone/Mic port is in the front! yay! very low cost!

Cons: maybe too minimalistic? no HDD light is a bummer. Loaded with a bunch of trial software. Winzip, Norton -- you'll want to clean these off ASAP. Windows7 can unzip without any trial software, thanks. And MSE is better than Norton (and free!). But hey, this is why the laptop is so inexpensive, right?
