5 out of 5 eggs5 stars for sure!

Pros: I just bought 3 of these and installed a SSD in each one. They are soooo fast I can't believe it. I can hit the power button and I timed it, 10 seconds later I'm at the login screen! It's very quiet too. The cpu fan runs all the time if it is plugged into the charger but I can barely hear it. I really like the brushed metal exterior, it's very nice looking. Bottom line is this is a great value and one of the best notebooks I've worked on! 5 stars for sure!

Cons: Nothing at all. It's a great notebook

Other Thoughts: I had to call HP support since it didn't come with any recovery discs to reinstall Windows. They shipped them to me for free and I had them in 2 days! I've done the same thing with home desktops or laptops and they wanted $20 plus shipping. I guess they consider these to be a "business" class notebook and if you have to call in you will probably get a better class of tech support.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop

Pros: Bought this laptop for my wife (an author) as a replacement for her netbook. She does a fair amount of business type work on the laptop and loves it so far.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsA great Hackintosh

Pros: As a Windows 7 machine, it's ok. Light enough for my needs, portable, and I love the metal finish.

Cons: Tons of bloatware to uninstall. You're better off doing a clean install of Windows 7.

Other Thoughts: I installed Lion 10.7.3 using guides on the interwebs. Google 'Probook 4530s Lion install guide' and you will find all of the information you need. Everything works, except bluetooth does not work after waking from sleep. I don't use bluetooth, so I don't care.

4 out of 5 eggsGood small business notebook

Pros: *very swift system...for basic services. Don't expect excellent CAD & high-end video editing.
*very sleek and classy look & feel
*price doesn't break the bank
*not a fingerprint magnet.
*keyboard feels pretty good for normal use. I wouldn't write novels with it, but its comfortable nonetheless.
*NewEgg shipping = Awesome Sauce
*matte screen is awesome, but it comes at a cost on this model. See cons.

Cons: *screen contrast ratio is a little lower than most notebooks. It takes a couple minutes for your eyes to re-adjust. Its a matte screen, which tends to muck up color output as well. Matte screen is definitely not a con, but color & contrast adjustment settings does little to help issue.
*Bloatware - To be expected at this price point though.
*Restore Discs - Not packaged with it, but quick call to HP fixed that

Other Thoughts: Its a personal preference for me to install a freshly loaded OS from physical restore media. It just feels cleaner to me and memory management doesn't get mucked up with side-loaded software. Since the restore media DVDs don't come with the notebook, don't worry about it. Make a quick call to HP support inside of 90 days of purchase and they'll mail them to ya inside of 2 business days if they are in stock. That's included as part of your 90 day "software warranty".

A solid 3-5 year working lifecycle notebook for small IT deployments.

3 out of 5 eggsImpressive, but...

Pros: The laptop offers surprisingly clean and pleasant case design, coming close to what Apple offers. Good quality keyboard. Speed/performance should satisfy general use for Internet/office applications. Case is cleanly shielded from the bottom--something you don't usually expect from PC laptops.

Cons: Unfortunately, the laptop falls short in several key areas:
- LCD screen quality is poor. It has low contrast and seems not color-calibrated. It is hard to read from, at least in office lightning.
- Up/Down arrows are so tiny that I frequently hit Shift instead of Up arrow button. Somehow I do not have the same problem when using similarly placed keys on MacBook.
- Touchpad buttons. There is nothing that separates them from touchpad, and they are so narrow, that when you press a button, you often move mouse away from the place you wanted to click on, just before the click happens
- HDMI port is similar in size to USB, and it is placed right next to USB, so expect to attempt to stick your USB gear into it frequently.

Other Thoughts: When I just opened the box, I liked the design and usability of the laptop. But now, after spending a few weeks using it, I feel I would rather get a different laptop for myself.

5 out of 5 eggsIncredibly Impressed

Pros: Light, slim, small enough to tote around but big enough to see full pages, etc.
GREAT sound quality, extremely fast.
Webcam is pretty good quality.
A lot more beautiful that I thought it would be; I really wanted a nice plain black color but I couldn't pass this up for the price, and now I like the silver actually better than black!

Cons: Bloatware (but you will get that from virtually any new computer)

Other Thoughts: The battery life is alright, I get about 4-4.5 hours on it with playing music and surfing the web. I'm sure power saver would offer slightly more.
Overall, this is an amazing little computer for the price. I'm a student and I build webpages on the computer for work as well, and this thing is probably the best thing you can find for this cheap if you're looking for using it for something like I am.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Happy

Pros: Can't think of any for a product that was faulty within the first 48 hours.

Cons: Used less than 48 hours. The screen went out. I now have to pay shipping for them to look at a laptop that was obviously flawed in the first place. What a racket!

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice

Pros: Good hardware for a good price. Good quality design that HP used to be unable to adhere too.

Cons: USB 3.0 port is sketchy....HP claims some were shipped with and some without.

Other Thoughts: For the money, you really can't beat this. Also I really like the direction HP is going with their aesthetics.

5 out of 5 eggsnot too shabby

Pros: for the price, this is a very good notebook. the screen is LED-backlit which does make some colors not look right, but works well enough and uses less power than LCD-only screens. the top of the notebook (back of the screen) is aluminum which has a nice feel to it. The battery life is 3-4 hours maximum when watching DVDs or netflix with maximum brightness which is quite good. the wireless antenna has good range although i have only used the 4430s in my 525 sq ft apartment.

Cons: the DVD player is extremely loud. omitting the back of the screen, the rest of the notebook is plastic. when i bought it, the 4430s was advertised as having usb 3.0. as many reviewers have stated, that is questionable though not relevant to myself. with hp giving up on the consumer PC industry, i am uncertain what support will be given for this product in the future.

Other Thoughts: i got this back in may and after attempting to put up with the bloatware for about a month (experimenting), I reformatted the hard drive with my windows 7 x64 dvd.

fingerprint scanner is nifty, but i had some issues with that since i reformatted. when i first received the notebook, i went through the process of scanning my right hand fingers and it worked fine. after reformatting the main partition, it will not allow me to rescan my right hand fingers therefore i must now use my left hand fingers for the fingerprint scanner. kind of annoying, but it must store some of that data on the "hp backup" partition which i don't feel like deleting.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Size, weight, metal case 7200, hdmi

Cons: Advertised as USB3, but mine is not. HP confirmed some were shipped with, some without.
Avoid if USB3 is important to you
