1 out of 5 eggsHP Probook Pure Junk!

Pros: none

Cons: This is the biggest piece of junk I have ever owned. nightmare from hell nonstop problems, too many to list.
HPs solution reload the operating system. PIECE OF Junk!.

Other Thoughts: This laptop is one problem on top of the next! HP customer service is negligent at best!

4 out of 5 eggsGood So Far!

Pros: Nice notebook. Nothing fancy but my users really like them. We'll see how they hold up.

Cons: I wish the industry would beef up the screen hinges. It seems like they are pretty delicate on all the new notebooks.

5 out of 5 eggsworking with 16GB memory

Pros: good

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Upgrade to 16gb memory using Komputerbay 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR3 PC3-10600 10666 1333MHz SODIMM 204-Pin Laptop Memory 9-9-9-25 for only $60, and it's working!
I was little concerned it won't support 8GB memory stick per spec.
This is amazing! Now, I can run several VM at the same time for only little over $500.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Light weight, great size for portability. All around love the looks of the unit. Fast.

Cons: HP software is the only negative but I just removed it, there wasn't a whole lot but took awhile for the initial load of it all.

Other Thoughts: I replaced the 500GB hdrive with an SSD because this will be used primarily as a work laptop so I'm looking for performace over space. Large files go on a portable drive or on my network drive over VPN. With the SSD bootup is between 8-10 seconds. Benchmarked at 250-300mb per second. This baby screams. Great price, Great buy.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very Good Specs. 14" is very good size for a laptop. Everything is Just right. Size, weight, 500GB HD, Battery life.
All the I/O ports, SD card, HDMI, USB 3.0
Good keyboard layout & feel, good touch-pad. No issues here.
I got it at $480 just before the price hike.

Cons: Screen could be brighter, looks somewhat dull. Can adjust brightness but could not find any adjustment for the contrast.

No software included for connecting it to larger size TV via wireless Display (WiDi). Intel i5 processors are supposed to be capable of WiDi, if the laptops are compatible.....

HP web site is a maze.... Finally found a page to e-mail for them to check if this laptop supports WiDi. Hope it comes through.

Other Thoughts: Wish this laptop had back lit keyboard, would have made a perfect laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsa happy purchase

Pros: Win7 pro, 14" screen (no glare), HP security features, fingerprint to logon is convenient, 500G HD, 4GB ram x1 is easy to expand to 12GB for VM, XP, ubuntu etc, no heat, no noise, light comparably, HDMI port for external LCD looks even better than 40" TV when playing Netflex, etc, everything in this laptop is necessary, decent build case, this $500 laptop looks a big upgrade from my previous $1000+ notebooks of 4~5 years ago, what an improvement of technology

Cons: screen is not bright(this is one of the biggest shortcomings of HP), particularly looks dark under natural light, the battery is very weak though you don't feel heat anywhere, the bootup is slower compared to my work laptop E6510 with win7 pro but a faster CPU. That is much more costly than this one.

Other Thoughts: It's ironic that all my previous personal laptops have been HP, Pavilion, NC6000, DV7, and all my work laptops are Dell, and all my desktops are Dell. So far this one is the best and also the cheapest. I kept thinking to change to other brand but always end up buying HP for laptops and Dell for desktops. No matter how you compare you can't beat their prices vs features

3 out of 5 eggsgreat build but price a little sketchy

Pros: everything great. Overall 3 stars because of price

Cons: A little disappointed about the cost. Just two weeks ago it was 470 dollars. Suddenly it jumped 230 dollars. I was going to get it at 470 dollars but i opened this link to purchase this product two weeks later than bam i'm faced with another 230 dollars :(.

Other Thoughts: everything else pretty much great

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Smaller Laptop for the price

Pros: This is a solid 14 inch laptop with above average performance. I was waiting for a 14 " I5 sub $500 laptop and Newegg came through with a promotion. Some reviews indicate that the USB 3.0 does not come as advertized but once the right drivers were loaded it worked fine.

Cons: The touchpad is a little erratic - hopefully this can be adjusted.

Other Thoughts: I had one bi surprise after registering the product with HP - I called to order the windows recovery disk ( free) and found out that they had the manufacture date has the start of the warranty versus the purchase date. I need to email a copy of my invoice to get the date chaged to the purchase date - A few months is a few months.

4 out of 5 eggsA great deal, but be prepared for some minor gripes

Pros: Chassis is high quality and very nice looking.
Laptop responds very fast (very nice i5 processor)
Integrated graphics perform general windows task with ease
Specs are very good in this price range (I paid 480 USD, on sale)
WiFi connection is very strong

Cons: Monitor isn't the highest quality, but it's not horrible (at least it's antiglare)
keyboard keys are stiff and square (maybe you will like this)
track pad is small (not the smallest I've seen however), left and right click are stiff.
Single Ram chip instead of two (two ram chips, even if they add up to the same 4GB, will have twice the bandwidth since they run in dual channel mode)

Other Thoughts: Bought this for my fiance to replace her 4.5 year old Mac Book Pro
There is plenty bloatware installed, but most of it gives you the option to hide it away.
First system startup/configuration took about 10minutes, not too bad.
I'm impressed with the speed and quality for the price.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing deal for the IT Pro

Pros: Just about everything, this thing is loaded with all the bells and whistles... Bluetooth, webcam, card reader, biometrics, matte screen, nice keyboard and touchpad, USB 3.0 & 4 total usb, easy access under-panel, supports DDR 1600 (verified), i5 is robust, and PRICE!

Cons: If I had to be picky I would say the battery is lackluster considering how nice the rest of the laptop is. If you are a road warrior I would recommend picking up a second or extended battery. It comes with your typical 6 cell (47WHr) battery.

Other Thoughts: This thing was exactly what I was looking for. A step or two above consumer grade junk, the easy access panel, 14" size, powerful i5, and very "portable". Note that if you want to go 8 gigs of RAM you only have to buy a 4GB 1333 stick. The laptop comes with 2 slots and only one is populated with a 4GB stick, not a 2x2 config. However I went with a whole new 8GB kit so I could go full 1600 speed. My last laptop purchase was in 2007 and was an HP Pavilion... hopefully this HP will treat me just the way my last two HP's have. Remember, take care of it and it will take care of you.
