3 out of 5 eggsGood PC for the price, but...

Pros: Great specs for the pricetag on a gaming series laptop. The 765M has really no trouble plowing through most of the games my GF throw at it. Very good weight with decent color. Pretty much what I expected it to be.

Cons: Two months into ownership now and it suddenly caught the plague. Slowed down to a crawl, games lagged, internet lagged, everything lagged. Turned out it was using 80% memory while idle. The curse of the memory leak on Windows 8.1. Made the laptop pretty much a 1000 dollar paperweight. Decided to just format with Windows 7 and it literally took me 4 hours to find all the drivers. Fangbook, CyberpowerPC and HX6-110 all returned me with no useful information when I searched Google for drivers. The only thing I could find were product reviews, go figure. After a TON of digging through forums, I finally came across a post of someone having the exact same issue with the HX7 series. They were pointed at a laptop from MSI that has the exact same specs with, surprise, driver listings. So why I had to go download MSI drivers for this PC, I don't know. Maybe MSI owns them. Either way it should NOT have been THAT much of a hassle to find drivers for this laptop.

Other Thoughts: Had Windows 8 not been such a bad OS, I would have 5 egg'd this. Newegg, as usual, is amazing.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product Very Few Flaws

Pros: I bought this from the Cyberpower PC directly and I have around the same specs as this laptop. It is very very fast, It has ran every game on High to Ultra settings. I can run a lot of background tasks and it doesn't effect my performance. I can even run 2 games at once without dropping below 60fps. It boots up super fast without an SSD. It stays cool even when running hard. I was playing graphic demanding games for around 8hours straight and it was still very cool. The fan boost is unnecessary I haven't needed to use it. Overall this laptop is great and does what it I wanted. This is the best laptop in its price bracket.

Cons: The touch pad by itself is terrible. Buy a mouse with this. The touch pad is my only big problem with the laptop. It is barely usable for daily tasks like browsing the internet. I did need to contact support to get a new driver because I had a problem with the touch pad not working at all after I turned off my laptop. The touch pad has been my only problem.

Other Thoughts: I bought this from Cyberpower PC's website directly and got the Nvidia 860m. My laptop is the Fangbook HX6-101 but it has a the upgraded graphics card and a 2.8 GHz processor instead.

4 out of 5 eggsseems pretty good

Pros: Hardware seems generally good. It does what it's supposed to do; see the specs if you're not clear on what it's supposed to do. Nothing has failed. The red light in the keyboard is cute and occasionally actually useful (for typing in the dark). I can do my work. I can play my games. I understand I'm supposed to hate Windows 8 but actually I'm kind of liking it. I mean it does get in the way occasionally and I'd probably like Windows 7 better, but it's not that big a deal, and I'm usually somewhat picky about these things.

Cons: The screen resolution is too high compared to the screen size, for text-focused uses. It's fine for games (without too much tiny text) and movies. I think I won't get another 1920x1080 laptop unless the screen is much bigger. I have to magnify my text with a Windows setting, which works fine but slightly blurs everything and defeats the purpose of getting such a high-resolution monitor.

The touchpad is terribly flawed, almost to the point of being broken. I dunno, I guess this kind of touchpad is normal these days? In that case then I guess many laptops have bad touchpads. But whatever. Anyway there are big problems with it: First, it has buttons under the touch-sensitive surface. This sucks initially, if you're not used to it, because it stops you from knowing that you do actually have a right mouse button (in the lower-right corner of the pad), albeit a hidden one. It sucks MUCH MORE later on because it stops you from clicking the pixel you want. The button is under the part of the pad that moves the mouse, so you can't click without moving the mouse. In other words, you can't click on what you want to click on. You can only approximate. Terrible, terrible design.

Also there is a third secret mouse button in the pad that seems to be more of a "logical" button than a physical one--it simulates a left click when you tap on the pad, even if you didn't press the mechanical button beneath. This is redundant (since there's already a button), and it interferes with the other buttons. You can tap gently on the right button... and get a left click, because of this. It's idiotic. You can even trigger this phantom click function by resting your hands on the laptop frame while typing and not even touching the pad. This happens to me often.

It's just pathetic that any manufacturer ever uses this kind of touchpad. The thing is obviously terrible. But I only took one star off for it because the pad does at least work in a pinch, and because you can get around it altogether (if you've got a mousing surface handy) by plugging in a real mouse.

Other Thoughts: The laptop is flawed but it works and is basically pretty nice (assuming it isn't gonna fall apart anytime soon). I don't regret buying it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Great speed. and great overall. shipping was incredibly fast. this is definitely worth it.

Cons: I have to turn on the fan when i want to play a game that requires the graphics card. it does get hot but hey its a laptop, and its actually convenient to actually press a button to turn the fan at a higher RPM.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat deal

Pros: - Fast and powerful at a great price point.
- A lot slimmer and sleeker than the photos depict.
- Usually boots within 7-8 seconds WITHOUT a SSD.

Cons: - Ran into 1 BSoD, not a huge deal.
- Wifi is pretty sketchy.
- USB ports don't seem very secure.

Other Thoughts: Windows 8.1 can go fall off a cliff.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Bang for the BUCK

Pros: I have only owned my computer for about 3 weeks.I ordered mine directly from the manufacturer and got to pick it up from the warehouse. In the past i have owned alienware computers and so i will make comparisons as such.
My first impression of the computer was actually much better than i expected. I got a great deal for my computer and when you pay 1050.00 USD for a gaming laptop you tend to worry about how cheap it must feel considering all the high end hardware bundled. I honestly expected to recieve a cheap body and mediocre workmanship. To my suprise however these cyberpowerpc are well build.the case of the laptop is really solid, the screen hinges are great and wont randomly change angles on you. Overal i would rate build quality at a 9.5/10. The only thing i would suggest to the manufacturer is to put some dust shielding on the bottom vents under the laptop.
I ordered my computer with no os but found windows 8.1 installed. This gave me a chance to test out the system before i even left the warehouse. I installed a 120GB mushkin msata when i got home and had to go through a bit of a process to get it to work. PLEASE NOTE, this computer is actually built by msi for cyberpower pc. it is therefore the same as the MSI GE60 and you can find all drivers you need to downgrade to windows 7. ALSO remember to go into the bios and change your boot mode from default into LEGACY or you wont be able to get windows to recognize the msata. You can then go ahead and set the hard drive priorties as you wish. I will now let you in on a little secret that isnt marketed with this laptop. Its got two msata slots and you can thus run a raid setup with them. Sorting out the bios settings took me a while so just take your time you will figure it out.
When i finally got a chance to game with the computer I was blown away. the 1080p ips diplay is great. I am glad it isnt the glossy type that always has reflections over it. Word of advice, this being a 15.6 inch screen letters tend to be so small on the screen. increase the font size through display settings and you will be much happier. The speakers on the computer are also good.No premium subwoofer but great sound and great placement of speakers above the keyboard.keyboard is backlit and very easy to see and type with. Furthermore the computer has a key you can press to run the fans constantly high when you need to. The noise from the fan isnt iritating. In fact i was a little worried that having a single fan solution for both processor and graphics chip would be an issue but temps remain within spec and everything is running fine even under heavy load. The placement of the fan on the side rather than back also makes gaming with pc on you lap very confortable.you dont have to worry about getting burnt.I rate the gaming experience on this a solid 9.7/10
This computer is a HUGE BANG for your buck item. Alienware couldnt dream of giving you hardware like this for the money. Best of all the computer doest look like a t

Cons: No dust shielding on bottom vents(minor issue) most people wouldn't even notice
The dvd drive tends to make noise and vibrate a little. Not much of an issue. who really games with cds or dvd anyways.

Other Thoughts: I am glad I made the leap from alienware to cyberpower/msi. I would have spent more money to get the alienware 14 and it would have come with a weaker graphics card. Overall I am happy with my purchase and saved a lot of money too. look online for discount coupons too. they help a lot especially if you buy direct from the manufacturer

1 out of 5 eggsLooks like I got a lemon

Pros: Specs look good on paper

Cons: BSoD the very first 10 minutes after I turned the laptop on ( no new software or hardware installed). A few more ever since.
Low memory message for every single game that I tried so far (WOT, CIV5...)
Browsing slows down to a crawl sometimes , wifi unreliable ( speed test varies wildly on this laptop. the same does not happen with my other devices or 5 year old laptop. )

Other Thoughts: I've been building gaming rigs for the past 15 years.
I have never came across so many problems with a new build/pc/laptop.

-Boots up within 8 secs
-Lightweight

5 out of 5 eggsHappy with this laptop with a couple adjustments

Pros: The laptop opens up to a matte finish black inside keyboard and track pad with no extraneous buttons or a bunch of stickers - it's very sharp looking. Also, I do not think the 10+ pounds description is accurate for those of you weary of that number. The laptop itself is a lot thinner than other 'gaming' laptops and is just under 6 pounds. It's sleek! Also, the red backlighting is adjustable in both positioning and strength of glow.

I added a 250 msata ssd to this immediately and moved windows 8 to it. Now, I'm not exactly technically inclined but I was able to do this plus add another 8g ram stick I had around without much trouble. The manufacturer has made the chassis really easy to open and work with which makes upgrading very easy. With the additions, I am extremely excited about this baby.

I hook two 23'' IPS monitos to this (1 HDMI, 1 VGA) and use this laptop for some enginnering process modeling, some minor video editing and gaming - WoW and Dota2. All of which it has handled great! I am able to play WoW on a mix of high/ultra settings with around 45-50 average fps. Controlling the extended desktop on my other monitor is seamless, so keeping track of other applications is a breeze.

Cons: The laptop has an extra boost setting for the CPU fan which adds some noise if you're using it while gaming. The computer itself does get pretty hot while I'm gaming but that is not unusual for a laptop and this one being thinner than traditional gaming rigs will make the heat more obvious. My fpd doesn't seem to suffer though.

Other Thoughts: For those concerned about the 'slow HD' mentioned in other reviews, I would definitely recommend putting in a msata ssd to accompany the 1TB HD that is included (they are separate slots, for those unaware). It's pretty easy to install and SSDs rule anyway!
