4 out of 5 eggsFast as hell

Pros: Quick as hell, amazingly priced, i5, 6gb ram, 1gb video card. Makes me take back everything i said about dell in the past. A big step up from their old laptops

Cons: Substandard Wifi / Networking card
The wifi is extremely spotty and always dropping
Trying to fix it as of now

4 out of 5 eggsBest performer for the $$

Pros: Absolutely the best performance for the money, especially video performance. Mine has the i3, 4gb ram, and 500gb drive but still gets a 5.9 windows score. I was about to get an Asus until I figured out that I could get a more than decent vid performance from the 550v card for under $500. So watch for the deals and this is an outstanding buy.

Cons: Biggest complaint is battery life. The 9 cell will be needed to make it acceptable. Maybe I got a bum battery but I'm only getting an hour to 90 minutes.
Also, the unit is a little bigger and heavier than I expected. It's about an inch wider than other 15inchers I've had.
Dell service has gotten kinda sketchy lately, but the build quality seems better than my 6400 from a few years ago and the service is still probably better than Acer which I've had a very poor experience with lately.
The combo esata usb port won't power my external drives.
Some bloatware but not as bad a others.
Function keys are little annoying.

Other Thoughts: This lappy is a smashing deal, but it's not very portable and considering the bulk it's more of a desktop replacement type. I'd plan on spending for the 9 cell battery and a inverter if you travel alot like me.

5 out of 5 eggsxps in disguise

Pros: amazingly fast. runs games perfectly. best bang for your buck. amazing speakers for a laptop.

Cons: keyboard is cheaply made. wish i went with the xps. battery life sucks (not unexpected with such a powerhouse of a laptop) i had to talk to dells customer service to find a 9 cell for the laptop because you cant find it without knowing the battery's product number.

Other Thoughts: the equal xps is only 899 and for that price you get a better quality keyboard, 1gb nvidia, 9cell battery, and jbl speakers. plus you can upgrade the laptop whereas this is the best you can get (except for a blueray drive) for the inspection 15r.

5 out of 5 eggsFlawless

Pros: I think for the first time in my life I've been so blown away by a product, that I really am speechless. It is exactly what I expected and it's perfect. It has all the processing needs you could ask for, perhaps if you want a stronger gaming rig then you might want to look for better graphics options.

Cons: None, it's flawless.

Other Thoughts: I was a bit bummed to not get it on the deal, but nonetheless, I would definitely pay a lot more than what I did ($879).

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop

Pros: Good size and price to performance ratio. Gets a 5.9 out of 7.9 Windows Experience Index, a very nice score for a laptop and pricepoint.

Cons: Runs a little hot thanks to the core i5. The power cord is awkward to wrap around the brick.

Other Thoughts: Overall a wonderful laptop. I use it to run Adobe Primer Elements and more important to me is Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 and Photoshop CS3. I have had 4 PSD documents open and exported 128 photos out of Lightroom while video conferencing with skype, without any slowdown or performance issues. I have also installed Valve’s Steam played Portal, halflife 2, and DeadSpace all with acceptable performance. I would like to say between the operating system, hardware and software, this laptop makes an excellent platform for both enthusiast/pro photographers and mid range gamers.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it!

Pros: I had owned a ThinkPad for years and never paid much attention to the whole laptop industry. When the ThinkPad died, I looked around and this Inspiron 15R caught my eye. The price/performance was well within my budget and it actually offered much more horsepower than I was expecting to find. I have been very impressed with the function and quality of this Dell product. The color depth of the display is better than my $200 desktop displays. I don't see any way someone would not be impressed with this laptop.

Cons: The keyboard trim is a silver mirror finish and is somewhat of a fingerprint magnet. It does run warm when gaming, (not unexpected considering they stuffed an Intel I5 in a laptop) so a laptop "chill mat" would be a good addition to keep the heat down.

Other Thoughts: Not clogged up with much of the junk programs that come on so many laptops. Comes with 6 months of free McAfee. Not my favorite, but the price is right for 6 months while I learn my way around Windows 7.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat once you get it going

Pros: I got this for 779 and it was the best deal I could find! I did have 2 issues which both have been resolved.. the first was when I went to register the system it came up as being previously owned, which was not the case, but between dell and newegg that was resolved, the second issue was the wireless card... first it wasn't staying connected to my wifi then it was only getting 0.67MBS on download speeds, while my 6 year old laptop was getting 15 to 17, so I called dell tech support and after about an hour its running as well as the other laptop, which makes me very happy. I would have given 5 eggs but those 2 issues where just a pain in the rear and frustrating...

Cons: wireless card is not great

4 out of 5 eggsBang for your Buck

Pros: Fast processor with lots of RAM. Was hesitant about purchasing, mainly because I was planning on using this as a low end gaming pc for my living room when I'm hanging out with friends and such. But so far I'm very satisfied. Runs SC2 and WoW on high settings with some chops, but runs very smoothly on medium-high settings.

Cons: The screen is very crisp but a bit dim for my liking. Even if you increase the brightness and gama in the game itself, screen is still a bit darker than what I'm used to. (desktop uses a 24" lg LED)

Other Thoughts: You won't be disappointed for the price.
