The best gaming laptop under $1000
- Pros: Price, runs COH, Prey, Doom 4, and Oblivion smoothtly, albeit have to install xp on another partition. Got 4187 3dmarks on 2k5. Managed to overclocked video card to 480/550 no sweat.
- Cons: Watch out for the memory card reader. Pins inside can get entangled with the memory card causing bad I/O errors. CD Drive pops out when taking out the laptop from the case.
- Other Thoughts: Must get another stick of ram to fully realize the potential of the laptop. If you play games, you must install XP as Vista is quite finicky about the drivers at least until they get better. Bottom line: A must have for the budget gamer.
great laptop for cheap price
- Pros: great laptop i like to play games not too high end but up to times and i find it is more than adequate the keyboard is very nice especially the 10 key. plays stalker nicely on moderate settings but i havent messed with anyof the settings yet to see if t will go higher
- Cons: gets alittle hot but hey what laptop doesnt
- Other Thoughts: i bought this laptop to replace the beast of a machine i once had. and i picked it because it had most of the same gadgets in it besides a built in tuner and it work really well. i love vista anyone who saysit doesnt run good on the one gig is just being picky but i will upgrade to 2 gigs soon as i wanna play my games as high as they can go oh and yes it oes have bluetooth
Absolute value
- Pros: You scantly will find such a feature laden laptop at this price. Solidly built. Sleak row of LED indicators on the front. No dead pixels. Quiet. DVI out, Bluetooth, flashdrives, wifi, ,audio ports, webcam, 4usb ports. Nifty buttons and proprietary software. Big HDD.
- Cons: Not so much con...: New battery life is 1:30. Screen is fair. Rt Shift key is a bit slender because they went with a full size keyboard design. Power connector is not as burley as some other designs. Speakers are mediocre. A little warm on leg.
- Other Thoughts: For forty bucks, you can double the RAM and increase performance substantially. Vista rocks with its hefty media features.
