5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Product for a Gamer with a budget

Pros: Excellent Specs for the price(they have the specs of a product price at 1200-1500)
Small, light.
Can run robust applications with ease, and outperforms another laptop I own(New HP DV9000~, paid 1400 for that).

Gaming? No problem! This little laptop is not only "Made of Win, and runs on Awesome" but it packs 4 gigs of ram, and a C2D processor.
Games I've tried:
Age Of Conan: Hyborian Adventures (30-35 FPS During Sieges)
Team Fortress 2 (30-40 FPS while in action)
Bioshock (25-45 fps, variates depending the environment)

All in all, this laptop rocks, and should be tagged up for another 400 bucks >:P

Cons: Here is the bad part, which is not much:

Power management in this laptop is lacking, battery life while under load was of about hour and a half.

That and I had a minor problem with an odd shutdown(my fault) that ended on the computer not turning on(I got scared for a minute here) But then I took out the battery, disconected power, put the battery in again, and it restarted, had to power the wireless card back up, and it was all done.

Other than that, I guess I can complain about the touchpad, its kind of in the way of things, but you can disable it with the Function Key+F3.

And my last complaint:
Speakers are kind of weak, so if you wanna have a good sound, buy speakers.

Other Thoughts: If you buy this laptop:
I suggest you buy a cooling pad if you are a gamer(buy a metal cooling pad, not one of those plastic garbage).
And buy a Mouse, that touchpad is kind of in the middle of the lappy.

Tried uploading a video, but it kept failing, so I leave you the link:;11992329;/fileinfo.html
That video was shot in Tyranny, come play! :D

5 out of 5 eggsBest bang for the buck

Pros: Very attractive. Lightweight. Quiet. Runs World of Warcraft at maximum settings with 48 frames per second. Smoothe, bright, & beautiful graphics.

Cons: Becomes very warm to the touch after a couple hours of gaming. The touch pad does interfear with typing but it is easily disabled via Fn + F3. Some of the buttons are smaller and take some getting used to, but this is to make room for the numberpad- an essential tool which most laptops do not have.

Other Thoughts: I do not see much of a reason to own a traditional desktop PC anymore. If you can get this much laptop at this low of a price, they're pretty much obsolete. Thank you, Newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsthis changes everything...

Pros: this is an incredible piece of hardware. i wanted a laptop that could burn dual layer dvds so i posted on asking for help and when no one replied i decided to go ahead and call Zt technologies because it was not up on there site. i asked the guy if it uses usb2.0 and he said yes, but he had also told me that it could not burn dual layer dvds. but with 2.16(clocks in at ~2.2) dual core 2 duo 2x64 aka x86 processor with a maxed out for a laptop 2mb L2 cache with 4gigs of ddr2 (and a graphics card of 2,223mb via dxdiag.) it brings bioshock to life, along with just about ANY game, all on a portible gaming platform that i'm also going to use to go to college with. so yea i obviously got it and it turns out it CAN burn dual layer dvds!! definately worth it now. not to mention an externa sata hookup and all three audio jacks can do whatever you want for you ie three speaker out, three mic in or three headphones, line in, or whatevr you want in any mixture. it kicks it.

Cons: the pro's cut me off at 1,000 characters. but still i cant hate you newegg, i gotta love you now! but this laptop is the best value for the price. its worth 10 times more than that.

Other Thoughts: I have read something in here about the webcam not working. it is false. like the wireless and bluetooth but only without instructions. the webcam is a button up top, the very left button of the four grey uptop. the laptop comes preloaded, with vista but with nothing else you wouldnt want, no bloatware. the webcam is in the system tray by default, its the little alienwebcam thing. it will attempt to connect, but if it doesnt close out and hit the button uptop to turn it on and open the app again. fyi you cannot use the webcam with more than one program again, so close out when done, looking at yourself like that is kinda wierd...but yea everything works like a charm. also on a side note i got the SYBA 3 fans notebook cooler pad with 4-port USB V2.0 and it cools it perfectly, in all the right spots, and it turns out the bios will power usb devices so long as they draw current from it which means things like blackberries and ipods will charge even when its off so long as it's plugged in

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect midrange laptop

Pros: Great laptop! Haven't had any problems with it as of yet.
Seems to be a pretty solid little computer.
Graphics card is powerful, though probably not good enough for any of the latest games on the market; if you're one that has a few of last generations favorites to play, then you'll have no problem here. Example: Plays Half-Life 2 on highest settings no problem.
The processor is even more powerful than most of the other laptops of its price range.
Little to no bloat-ware to worry about.
Built in bluetooth is nice.

All in all, a great mid-range laptop for an amazing price.

Cons: It has a few, but they're pretty small. For sake of completeness I'll list them.

1: Some of the keys on the keyboard are very small, which can make typing a pain at times.

2: The touchpad mouse is a pain in the rear. If you don't keep your left wrist up while you're typing you'll probably end up hitting it and selecting somewhere else on the screen.

3: The battery life is only two and a half hours long in power saver mode. Which can be extremely annoying if you are buying this laptop for mobility purpose, though we most keep ours plugged into the wall most of the time so it's not really an issue.

4: The built in wireless does not support 802.11n transmissions which is disappointing considering the age of this laptop. The only supported transmission types are 802.11a, 802.11b, and 802.11g.

Other Thoughts: Would have really liked this laptop to support 802.11n, but 802.11g "ok".
Not much to worry about with this laptop. (Other than the its black color being a bit of a dust magnet.)

4 out of 5 eggsWhy ZT element is only good not great

Pros: 1. great specs, video card, ram, storage space. sick laptop especially for gaming.
2. no bloatware (could be good but you need to know what software to download)

Cons: there are some. but if you're not super picky you can deal with it.

1. battery life is only 2 hrs not like a macbook which can be more like 4 hrs.
2. keyboard takes getting use to especially the smaller buttons on the right side.
3. the mouse pad definitely gets in the way of typers that don't like to lift up their wrists. the wrist rubs against the mouse pad and skips to that area so when you type you need to pay attention or else you will type over what you typed or just delete stuff.
4. there seems to be some technical problems. i've been having problem with my mousepad. it doesn't respond at times and the screen resets randomly.
5. For those that like the necessary things like adobe reader, a video player, spyware protection you may need to spend some time getting the necessary softwares.

Other Thoughts: most of the cons are cons just needs to get use to. except the technical difficulties with the mouse pad.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Bang for the Buck

Pros: Great specs for the price. Beautiful bright screen. Lightweight for its performance class. Very snappy performance. Lots of ports to connect things. Easily handles large Photoshop tasks with ease.

Cons: More powerful on paper than in reality. 8600M GT is decent, but crippled by slow 400MHz DDR2 RAM (The standard for this GPU is 700MHz GDDR3). Smallish 4800mAh battery makes for poor battery run-time. Internal speakers sound awful.

Other Thoughts: While quite a bit weaker graphically than the specs would suggest, it is still considerably stronger than anything in its price-range. That is where most of the 5 eggs come from. It definitely has its quirks, but no more than any laptop. The touch pad is a bit awkward and sensitive, but I rarely use it. It can be disabled (Fn+F3). I yanked Vista the first night I got it and installed XP Pro. I lose a GB of RAM, but performance is awesome.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat buy

Pros: This laptop rocks, for the price it's loaded. I just hooked it to my 42" plasma and watched a movie streaming from netflix, with no lag time or glitches. Awesome...

Cons: Yes the touch pad is a little sensitive when you type, but I think that is quite normal. Just something to get used to. Oh still haven't figured out the built in camera. Can't seem to make it work.

Other Thoughts: If your on a budget I don't think it gets much better than this.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat deal

Pros: This laptop has great specs if you plan to do some gaming. It runs games like WoW and WAR with no problems, even at decent graphics settings and other stuff running in the background. It's amazing that a laptop that is this good all around is available at this price. It would be easy to find $1000+ laptops with less performance than this one.

Cons: The biggest problem I've had is with Vista, which has proven horrible at networking with my older computers that are using XP. I can't hold that against ZT or Newegg, because that's pretty standard for new laptops. Also, because it is designed to have a number pad on the right side of the keyboard, some of the keys (e.g., slash and period) are too small to compensate.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Buy

Pros: You can't get these kind of specs for this price anywhere else. Honestly, going in I was a little apprehensive of some people's reports of lemons and pesky downsides, but I have had no monitor trouble, and while it's true the period key is curiously small, I have yet to miss it while typing. Tons of RAM, fantastic video card (for a laptop), great processor... This box is where it's at!

Cons: What cons? The touchpad mouse is annoying, but so are all built in laptop mice. Serious gamers might be dissappointed with the FSB speed and the RAM speed, but for this price, what you do get is a bargain. And they are right, the A/C adapter is a bit heavy.

Other Thoughts: With this box you can run top of the line 2006-7 games on full graphics settings and newer stuff at high-medium settings. I'm totally satisfied with that.
