1 out of 5 eggsJUNK

Pros: big, powerful, beautiful.

Cons: Had to send this back about 4 times for the screen breaking, the hinges are too weak for the heavy screen. Ended up getting one sent back without the SSD installed, and no data on the other drive.

Other Thoughts: If anyone is to buy this used or new if they still make it make sure the get the extended warranty its the only thing that will save you!

Pros: Superfast with amazing screen. Eats through everything still after 2 years.

Cons: 64gb ssd hard drive is main drive not very large and everything defaults onto the drive.

4 out of 5 eggsMixed Thoughts

Pros: -Speed - Lightning Quick
-Graphix - Can run WoW and SC2 at highest graphics levels, but to maintain high frame rates I had to lower from Ultra graphics to High.
-Monitor - Bright, no stuck pixels, no issues.
-Sound - Crisp, Clear, Wife was complaining it was too loud... so just loud enough :D

Cons: In a few months Sandy Bridge processors will be coming out. So it will be slightly out dated.

Everything is allocated to the SSD. To be able to run your games off the SSD you'll need to either buy a larger drive and put it in (the current one is full with just WoW and OS) or migrate everything over to your HDD. Migrating everything is a pain and requires the use of software like Norton GHOST. Also of the 64gb only 46 is usable 18gb is your factory install backup.

Speed of the SSD is mediocre. Not slow and not fast.

Other Thoughts: If I wasn't in need of a laptop now I'd have waited for the next gen to come out. However, this one should still be more than adequate for 3-4yrs.

Also I had to spend 30min uninstalling Toshiba bloatware. But that's to be expected with any laptop you buy.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -Extremly fast processing
-Beautiful full 1080p display
-Graphics performance is very high
-Great battery life for a gaming laptop
-Eco mode
-Shows power consumption
-Backlit Keyboard
-Supports sleep and charge
-Very nice elegant look
-Sound is very amazing for a laptop
-Fans are quiet
-Rubber feet grip very well on most surfaces
-Facial recognition works good for locking computer
-Keyboard has a nice feel to it
-Can turn mousepad on/off with a botton convieniently above mousepad
-Feels like a very sturdy laptop
-Good webcam quality
-Built in microphone has decent pickup quality
-Movies look great on the 18.4" screen
-Very fast boot time
-Built in bluetooth radio
-Google Chrome preinstalled

Cons: -Collects fingerprints very easily
-Graphics card can support 3d, but does not have the extra hardware required for it
-AC cord is a 4 pin connector, have to order replacement from Toshiba. No third party power cord
-No restore partition or restore disks included
-Default drive to install programs or save files on set as drive "C"(solid state drive), have to change installation destination and save destinations in IE and other programs to "E"(500gb hdd)

Other Thoughts: -Battery life depends on what you are doing. Just browsing the web in eco mode, i can get 2.5 hours out of the battery. If I'm not doing anything and the laptop is just on, then i can get 3.5 hours out of the laptop. Gaming, I get 45 min to an hour of battery life.
-Create backup and restore disks after you have updated the laptop, before you start installing games/programs. This way if you have to restore the computer, you will have few updates. They do not include a restore partition or restore disks with the computer.
-This computer can/will get hot enough to burn you if you are playing graphic intensive games. Put on a table or on a laptop pad for your lap while playing games. For regular use, it is fine.
-I have compared the sound to an HP with Beats By Dre, and the sound from the harmon/kardon speakers do just as good if not a little better.
-If your looking for a desktop replacement, you just found it. Power of a desktop in the form of a laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsX505-Q898 Top of the Line

Pros: Core i7 is fast. Windows Index Experience is 6.7 overall. Slowest is the hard drive being 6.7 for the SSD, other than that it averages 7.8.

GeForce GTX 460M handles any game I throw at it with ease. There is plenty of power to handle the next generation of games with out a hitch.

WELL BUILT Toshiba. Great product.

Cons: The media buttons should have been placed along the top of the keyboard and not at the left side. I have hit them a few times not meaning to. Other than that the Q898 is solid.

Other Thoughts: It is heavy and large, most cases and backpacks don't handle the size. The power unit does get quite hot after several hours of heavy gaming.

I bought 2 of these, one for me and one for my wife and neither one is glitchy nor have they BOD'd or froze up in any way. You won't go wrong in purchasing one of these power house machines. Great desktop replacement.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: This laptop is amazing! It can run RIFT and play wow on ultra settings.
I havent had issues with heat or anything.

Cons: The 64GB SSD that it comes with is way to small. The speed of it is questionable as well.

Other Thoughts: I talked to Toshiba and purchased a new 128GB SSD from newegg. Toshiba said it wouldnt void the warranty or anything.
I'm also ordering 8GB of RAM for it.

4 out of 5 eggsPowerhouse

Pros: Runs every new game I have beautifully (ex: Rift, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Starcraft 2, Sims 3 all run at full specs without any problems). Most features are very user friendly. I've compared similar custom built laptops and this seems to be the most bang for your buck. Most laptops with these specs that I've seen usually top over $2k. The backlit keyboard is a really nice feature. The large screen is awesome. Everything looks spectacular. The speakers are very good quality for a laptop. Besides a few minor issues listed in the Cons, I am EXTREMELY happy with this purchase.

Cons: I'm not sure if this is a Windows 7 issue or if Toshiba is to blame, but I've gotten a lot of "blue screens of death" while running certain games. After installing a registry cleaner/repair program I haven't had any problems, however I wish that this wasn't necessary. Also, THAT DARN WINDOWS MEDIA BUTTON on the left side of the keyboard is a BAD feature. Not a day goes by where I don't accidently hit that button and it minimizes whatever program I have running to pull up the media player. Overall this is a slight annoyance, but an annoyance nontheless. Also, there is the usual "fluff" software you might expect from a name brand computer. I've built my own desktops in the past, so I'm not used to it, but there is some un-needed and unwanted software. My final gripe is the fact that most of the drivers you need to update must be updated from the Toshiba website. This was not apparant to me at first (ex: graphics card driver must be downloaded from the Toshiba website).

5 out of 5 eggsGreat performance, Great price!

Pros: -Top of the line core i7 processor, fast Nvidia GTX 460M GPU,

-Largest screen ive ever seen on a laptop,

-Having an SSD and a decently fast mechanical hard drive for mass storage is excellent.

-The sound on this unit is superior to any laptop i have owned in the past.

-The performance and overall luxury that this machine provides is an excelent value when you compare it to Alienware/XPS systems if you cant afford the brand name.

-No regrets at all about buying this system and i have owned it for 3 months now

Cons: -no USB 3.0 ports, although you can always add a card for that later on.
-short battery life, but that is something i expected when buying a laptop with such high end features

-comes with the usual extra junk software that i uninstalled after buying, most machines come with this though

-had an issue getting ubuntu 10.10 running on here correctly with this graphics card

Other Thoughts: before buying this unit also check out the ASUS G73JW-A1
or if you dont mind doing some easy work and have extra money buy the Qosmio X505-Q896 which has all the same specs except insted of a SSD and a 500GB drive it just has the 500GB and insted of 6GB ram it comes with 4GB. if you get the 896 you can always upgrade these parts on your own with ones that you choose to get a little more performance.
If you do decide to get a Q896 insted and want to add a 2nd hard drive you will need the bracket/mount. The part number for this from toshiba is Part Number: PQX33U-01J00H
