5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value

Pros: 2nd Gen Sandy Bridge CPU. Great Price. Not a lot of 3rd party junk.

Cons: AC adapter info is a bit confusing. Voltage range is labeled twice on it and it shows different ranges.
Speakers are weak, don't expect to listen music on them.

Other Thoughts: AC Adapter looked like it only worked with 110V but after checking it better I did find that it does work for 100 - 240V which was a huge releif as I intend to use it outside of US. I posted a review ealier that states that it only works on 110V but I don't see the review anywhere so I couldn't edit the post. If it shows up, please ignore it.

3 out of 5 eggsNot for Travel

Pros: Great specs for the price. I thought the amount of bloatware was pretty limited.
Performance seems great so far.

Cons: Specifications on the Newegg site list: 65W (19V 3.42A) 100-240V/50-60Hz AC Adapter
This is not the case. The adapter is only good for 110V in the US and I needed a laptop I can use internationaly. Now I have to buy a replacement AC Adapter which adds to the cost of the laptop quite a bit.

Other Thoughts: If you intend to use it in the US only it's a great machine but the specs advertized are wrong and I had to deduct points for that.

4 out of 5 eggsHappy with my purchase

Pros: Nice looks, decent screen, satisfactory size and weight. Plenty of memory and HD space for a budget machine. Good battery life according to Windows--I haven't had a chance to drain it all the way but after more than 2 hours casual use Windows reports more than 50%.

Surprisingly decent gaming performance. I was able to play Portal 2 without problems and Batman: AA with some settings tuned down a bit. I didn't buy this for gaming but I can use it for a quick fix if I need to. The rest of the system performance is fine.

Cons: It has the usual problems that budget laptops are plagued with. The case is too shiny and is already covered in fingerprints. The touchpad has an irritating zoom feature. The mouse buttons are really clicky. The spacebar is too small. There's no USB 3. The webcam is bare-bones. The speakers are mediocre.

It's also loaded with a nice pile of bloatware out of the box. I didn't feel like doing a clean install of Windows but in hindsight I probably could have done that faster than it took to uninstall everything.

Other Thoughts: Fortunately, all the little irritating drawbacks are things that I can easily ignore. I have good headphones. USB3 is not too common yet and I didn't buy this thing to future-proof myself. The bloatware can be removed. All laptops start to look dirty after a few months use and I should have washed my hands before I put my greasy fingers all over it anyway. I've already trained my thumbs over the spacebar. I use the touchpad for clicking purposes if I'm trying to be quiet. The dumb zoom feature can be turned off.

Honestly, there's nothing too special about this computer but it ticks all the basic checkboxes and has a few surprises thanks to the second-gen Intel i3 processor. I bought it sight-unseen and am perfectly satisfied.
