4 out of 5 eggsNice Laptop poor battery

Pros: The laptop is built well, I have found it to be well made.

Cons: The things I don't like about it, poor battery life, under one hour between charges, it is heavy to cart around, and the power brick is huge. Ifound that the blue ray player isn't stable when playing a blue ray, also it's noisy.

Other Thoughts: I had to buy the Win 7 Pro upgrade, they don't offer it as an option, that would be nice if they did. You can't follow the link to register the laptop, it doesn't work, you have to call it in. If I had a chance to rethink this I would get a different laptop, you are teathered to the wall socket plug, not too portable, more like a desktop

5 out of 5 eggsFirst gaming laptop

Pros: The performance on this system is great! runs World of Warcraft and Modern Warfare 3 with 50+FPS with the graphics maxed out.
The sound system is awesome I have never heard a laptop with the sound quality that this one holds.
on top of all of these nice features it looks very cool, some what flashy.

Cons: The only two con I can see are very small ones, that fact that the screen resolution is 1600X900 and it comes with bunch of bloatware but nothing a reformat won't take care of. Other then that I can't see anything wrong with it

Other Thoughts: If your not concerned about the screen and the extra software then I really recommend this computer for gamers and video editors.

5 out of 5 eggsAbsolute Beast

Pros: I love most everything about this laptop!
GTX 560m + i7 2630qm runs everything I have at Max (BFBC2, Mafia 2, Civilization V) or high settings (Crysis, high settings with 2x AA). You've got to admit, that's pretty incredible.
Speaker are phenomenal. They give vibration feedback when playing games they are so powerful.
Keyboard is wonderful, backlight is solid, tocuhpad is fine, I like the light next to Caps and Num lock. More useful than I thought it might be.
The Eco mode will literally give me 3 hours of decent multitasking (5 tabs open in Firefox, Cars playing at 1080p, and several documents open.)
Bluray drive is a nifty feature. I usually used my PS3 for bluray, but now I have a more portable option.
I game a ton on this laptop, and it doesn't get very hot over long periods of time. If it is getting the air it needs, you should be fine.

Cons: There is an enormous amount of heat coming out the exhaust out the left side, but I am glad it is moving the heat out.

The power brick is massive. Huge. And it can get hot. Just a heads up. A desktop sized power plug goes right into it, so plenty of spares at home.

I wish the screen was 1080p, but it is not. 900p is fine though.

Some people are complaining about low Frames Per Second during games, and that is because of BIOS based throttling. Just downgrade back to v1.1. It took me a few very frustrating hours to figure that out, but now it works like a charm again.

Other Thoughts: I love this laptop. I actually carry it everywhere with me, so it isn't impossible to make it very portable (although I have a reserved pocket for it and the power brick goes in a pocket on the outside). Toshiba drivers suck, but Nvidia came out with beta drivers that work perfectly.

4 out of 5 eggsUpdate

Pros: -I have run Starcraft 2 (ultra settings), Hard Reset (ultra/high settings), Crysis (Ultra/High settings), Space Marine (ultra/high settings). All the games take a long time to load up, however, once loaded they run very quick.

-Even with a 1600x900 res the games look very nice on the eyes.

-Backlit keyboard is a great feature.

-Backed up a system image before really ripping through the computer, and messed it up. Ran the system image and Ta-da...runs like how it arrived in the mail. I strongly recommend anyone to backup the system first thing just in case.

-Their is in fact a working Nvidia driver update available now that is compatible and will work on this laptop.

-On off touchpad button, Love it!

-Speakers and sound on here are top notch for laptop computers

Cons: Yes this computer ran all the games i stated above, and ran them smooth however they would lag up and run funny after a while and i would have to stop what im doing in the game and wait for the fan to do it's job or something for it to run back to normal. I believe it is a heat issue since the game immediately stops lagging as soon as the fan slows down. It does this somewhat frequently.

-Volume control works but hard to control in my opinion

-Battery life....

Other Thoughts: This Laptop was a desktop replacement so it will almost always be plugged in so battery life is of no concern.

Their is an actual Nvidia Driver available for Toshiba's ancient Nvidia driver...no thanks to Toshiba

Maybe if i can override the fan speeds to just run full at all times to keep everything cool and not lag the games it could be better. I dont mind noisy parts in a computer since i usually have volume up loud or headphones on.

Its a decent machine

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome...Buttttt

Pros: This is a beautiful laptop all around. The design is great, the speakers are superb for laptop speakers. The screen is amazingly clear. The exhaust vent is placed on the left side as another reviewer said, making it hard to block, and the battery casing raises the laptop up to allow more room for ventilation.

When playing games, it stays warm, but not hot - which is amazing to me. How far laptops have come.

Cons: It can play most games on high settings - however there is a few key things you should keep in mind, as I was sucked in by them having never bought a gaming laptop before.

1. the gtx560 is a gtx560(m). I did not know the difference when I bought this, but suffice it to say the GTX560(m) video cards is roughly HALF the capability of the GTX560(ti) desktop version. This card can NOT play some of the newer games like dead island etc, and seems to have peculiar AA problems, like team fortress, when run at native resolution. If you turn it down, and don't turn on AA it runs flawlessly.

2. In certain games the turbo-boost technology will actually hitch/severely lag your game. Although it's never happened in an FPS, I will assume it would be devastating if you're pretty hardcore about twitch gaming.

3. Drivers can not be downloaded from NVidia, the toshiba website is the only way to ensure you will have optimal performance/heat. They are usually out of date.

4 out of 5 eggsQuick question

Pros: Beautiful finish and design, Blu Ray, GTX560, fast...

Cons: Power Adapter from what I heard could easily get loose overtime and may wiggle from the A/C Port, only 6GB of RAM inlcuded, not 1080p (you'd expect something this high-end and replacement of the X750 series to have full HD

Other Thoughts: Just a question to anyone who can answer this: Can I put in a 2x8 GB RAM, in other words, can the laptop maximize to 16GB?

And does it void the warranty if you swap RAMs, I mean, you could always switch it to the original 6GB when you send for repairs right?

And can this laptop handle 1600 MHz and above or only 1333 MHz?

And lastly, RAM is 10660 or 10666?

4 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: Runs smooth and quick. I Do not have a CD and can not do a clean install so i am running as received from Newegg just after uninstalling Norton. Ran the Call of Duty 4:Advanced warfare demo on high settings and ran great. So far it handles everything very well and quick.

Cons: Only took one egg off because the screen bends easy and I am terrified of breaking it. The whole unit is framed with a hard plastic and not metal, however I'm starting to like it.

Other Thoughts: Seems to be a good machine and handles superb for games.

3 out of 5 eggsSuitable

Pros: Processor is impressive. Display is sharp and crisp. Very little non-Toshiba software included. Good lookin' chassis. Runs my games very well for its price. No lag on Space Marine. Speakers are very good for a laptop. Built-in Blu-Ray software is good.

Cons: USB ports are located forward, which is annoying. Display is relatively heavy on reflection. Battery lasts .5-1.5 hours. Power Cable doesn't stick in as well as it ought to. Trackpad buttons are cheap and loud.

Other Thoughts: For a secondary computer for a gamer, the laptop is ideal. The Blu-Ray makes it a great multimedia system too. Lots of little problems and annoyances knock it to 3 stars.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat price: features/performance ratio

Pros: This machine can handle almost anything you throw at it. Its wide variety of features and high performance makes it the ideal platform for gaming, entertainment, and audio/video/graphics production work. The price of 1300 for this many features and a GTX560M is way more bang for your buck.

For all you gamers and game enthusiasts out there: Starcraft 2 runs at 60fps on max settings and 1600x900, The original Crysis runs above 30fps with everything set to high at 1600x900, without antialiasing. Dead Space 2 and Deus Ex: Human Revolution look cinematic with max settings and 60fps.

Another feature of this laptop that deserves great praise is the speakers. Laptop speakers have come a long way since the last laptop I owned, a low-end Dell Inspiron 6000. It is great for use in a moderately sized room, and the Waves Maxx Audio drivers do a great job of optimizing sound output on the fly.

Cons: When running games that are directx10/11 intensive, this beast runs hot, upto 70C on the sensors overall on a prolonged Crysis session for instance. This is not a huge problem when you have a good cooling pad for the laptop. The left side vent lets out so much heat that it can warm up that corner of your desk, but I see it as a plus in cold winter times, could serve perfectly as a hand warmer.

The screen resolution is 1600x900, may not be as much as I'd have liked but it wasn't worth taking an egg for due to the host of other features that came with this laptop (backlit keys, BD-combo, etc). Runs between 38-44 at idle to light loads depending on the room temperature.

Quite a bit of bloatware for a new laptop, but I try to look past it, at least until I install a new OS on this.

The battery life is advertised as up to 4 hours, but the most I could stretch out of this is 2 hours and 30 minutes. I could be wrong. Adapter is a hot brick, but is fair since this is a powerful machin

Other Thoughts: Some other nice touches:

The touchpad on/off button that is situated right above the touchpad is great to have when using a mouse, minimizing mouse movement errors due to accidental hand contact.

The i7 2630QM comes with built in Intel Graphics, which when coupled with Nvidia Optimus keeps the Qosmio running at lower power levels and temperatures when graphically intensive applications are not running.
