1 out of 5 eggsNo more Toshibas for me

Pros: When it works it is a very nice system with beautiful graphics at very high resolutions.

Cons: Bulky plastic body
Prone to failures

Other Thoughts: I am now sending this laptop in for the 8th repair since purchased a little over a year ago. I have had many different types of failures, and am convinced Toshiba is just making shoddy products now. Thank goodness for the extended warranty

1 out of 5 eggsTechnical Design Flaw

Pros: Don't get me wrong, this laptop holds up and runs quite well. It is a decent performer now, though not as good as current models obviously.
With Blu-ray, the Nvidia 560m graphics and various other options such as bluetooth, and a mini subwoofer.

Cons: The biggest issue lies with the design flaw in the X770/X775 series. Only gamers will notice this over time. The power membrane is easily affected by heat and thus starts to malfunction. In turn, it has uncontrollable spazes and starts acting like the power button is being held down.

This can happen randomly, so while in the middle of watching a movie, playing a game, or just browsing the net. It seems to be more sensitive to contact anywhere around the power button area.

Other Thoughts: Since Toshiba customer service seems to refuse to acknowledge this widespread issue, everyone is best seeking alternatives for products since this company doesn't seem to care about customer satisfaction at all and is fine with selling defective products.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty sure this thing is sentient and possesses intelligence superior to my own....

Pros: I am seriously in love. This is the most powerful computer I've owned, let alone laptop. I've a handful of games on it, the most graphic intensive being Skyrim so far, and it runs it on ultra high flawlessly. It runs everything flawlessly.

I'm a flight attendant and needed a portable gaming rig. After shopping around and reading the reviews here, I decided on this one instead of a well known gaming brand which was twice the price for similar specs. I am SO glad I opted for this one. Seriously solid and blazing fast. Performs beyond my expectations. Would definitely recommend highly to anyone who needs a computer for gaming on the go. (Or for anyone who games, period.)

Cosmetically it is GORGEOUS. The gunmetal gray, red trim and ominous red glow from the keyboard make me feel like a total bada** while I'm slashing and hacking through whatever digital wilderness I find myself in. The speakers look like Spiderman designed them, and when the subwoofer kicks in the whole laptop quakes

Cons: The facial and chest hair are aggravating, but a small price to pay for the testosterone that oozes out of this thing.

Bloatware.....but I've owned quite a few computers and this one has the least of any I've ever had. Took very little time to get rid of it.

5 out of 5 eggsBAMF coming through.

Pros: This thing is a BAMF. This thing will handle everything you throw at it- including the United States army.

Seriously, this is probably the most amazing laptop I have ever seen. I got this thing because I was in a really bad car wreck about a month and a half ago, and my almost 5 year old Macbook got destroyed in the wreck (I know- Macbook, shun, SHUNNN!!!! (hey man it was a gift when I went off to college)) and the money that the insurance company gave me to cover the Macbook happened to be just enough to order this thing, and I had had my eye on it for awhile.

I've put some taxing stuff on here, and this thing can keep up amazingly well. Doesn't lag a bit. Played a good bit of d3 on it while I've been recovering from my wreck, and it looks so amazing, I think I had a party in my pants the first time I played. Ok, I'll admit it, every time I've played. Seriously, idk why everyone is complaining about it not being 1080- this is the best looking laptop screen I think I've ever se

Cons: It didn't come with a free bottle of Jack.

Other Thoughts: This thing can almost hang with my desktop (AMD Phenom II 3.7GHz quad core, G Skill DDR3 1600 16 GB, XFX 6870, Seagate 7200 rpm 1 TB HDD, Plextor M3 128GB SSD), and I think that it would hang with my desktop if it had an SSD.

So I'm fixing that, and throwing a Plextor M3 in it.

5 out of 5 eggsGamers Paradise!

Pros: Packaged well!

Opened box, hooked up to internet, powered on. Updated windows, downloaded:directx11,silverlight,graphics card drivers,Diablo3,WoW,SWTOR. Made Back-up Cd's all in about 3 hours.

Ran windows index assessment. All scores in 7.1 range except harddrive that came in a 5.9. two harddrives at 500gb.

All games ran in ultra high settings and ran a constant 60fps. This bad boy didnt lag abit.

I searched for a replacement laptop for my ASUS G50 after it went to a blue screen hell after 16 months. (Video card smoked and is 300.00 to replace. After that said, I bought this Toshiba after months of scouring laptop information.

Look no furtherif your looking for a Gaming/Entertainment PC this is the one. Come on in and join the Toshiba Family!

Cons: At the price it would be nice if Toshiba gave you FActory settingsoftware Cd's. You have to purchase separately. Not a huge deal to make your own but I personally want the factory cd's versus ones we make.

Also, in the NEWEGG advertisement it states a 1tb hard drive. I had purchased a 500gb for the 2nd drive. In the specs though they break the 1tb down to 2-500gb harddrives. Need to change the advertisement to 2x500 gb hard drives to not confuse people

Just after thoughts nothing to keep me from buying a 2nd laptop!!

5 out of 5 eggsBeast of a laptop

Pros: I had originally bought this laptop so I could 3d model using 3d studio max and Maya, I checked its specs so I purchased this.
First off, it runs these programs like a pro, I have had maya, max, photoshop, chrome (with a million tabs open) and winamp all running at once and the fan didnt even come on. The only time the fan comes on is when I play games, running skyrim on ultra high settings, it gets moderately hot, nothing that you can feel unless you're purposely in front of the fans. The laptop itself gets warm at most, but it does a good job of keeping cool.
So, major pros about this are:
-Runs games incredibly.
-Doesnt become a volcanic heat source
-Light up keyboard is amazing (typing at night, looking awesome, showing off to people)
-Speakers are majestic, playing all my music beautifully AND LOUD, great speakers on this bad boy.
-Delicious size, although, I had been using a netbook prior to this.
-1tb (2x 500gb hdds) havent had any storage issues (yet)
-Price, worth eve

Cons: While there are some cons, its not really any deal breakers, they're more or less minor annoyances.
-HUEG, like, this laptop is massive, however, if you like em big, ya.
-Power cable, some people say the box is pretty big, but I think its alright, the size of a small brick or a chalkboard eraser, the issue I had was that the power cable will fall out if you move too much (as I tend to use this on my lap or stomach, this might just be an issue with me.)
-1600x900 resolution, the search for backgrounds continues, however I just make my own so, again, not much of a con.
-Quick button things, I never use them, probably just personal preference but I never liked them, I have however, used the mute a few times, speaking of, the sound doesnt seem to work when I try to adjust with that, it fades out then resumes, could just be me not really bothering to learn how to do it right.

Other Thoughts: I am very satisfied with this computer, I am an art student majoring in 3d animation and this sick puppy runs all the art/animation programs I need, and runs them fast, all at once. I highly recommend to anyone who either is a gamer or is looking to do heavy art/graphics, its also sure to turn heads and get people to ask what kind of laptop this is (also haters lol)

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good!

Pros: Specs are awesome! (Seriously, if you do not know what to look at, ask a tech-friend as they will tell you these specs are incredible!!!!!)

Light up keyboard.

Blu ray

Strangely, I do not find the toshiba bloat ware annoying, honestly the only one I want to get rid of is the toshiba books app, as I do not use it. Everything else is actually useful, ex I have this toshiba computer center thing (i do not remember exact name) and it shows my different kinds of hardware conditions. So if my hdd was in bad condition, it would tell me! So i never have to actually investigate myself.

Cons: Umm it is a little big, as originally I really wanted 15 inches, but considering I like to game on this sometimes, the 17 inch display does come in handy.

The res kind of p***** me off, why not go full 1080p??? But if you do not require a tv, this is not a problem as you dont see the difference in res on a 17 inch screen.

Oh and like all mouse pad, clicking it, does make a strange noise.. So you can't really click to fast in class as people will give you weird looks.

Battery life is in fact poor, but I knew that.

Other Thoughts: I give this a 5/5 because I knew what I was buying, toshiba provides you optimal performance while sacrificing battery life, but it all for the greater good, as it packs so much godly hardware for a decent price.

Seriously think about it, I for example would not have bought this laptop if it was like 1500 just so that battery life is slightly increased.

Oh so far, I have not really tested intense games.. I have been playing heroes of newerth and that is about it..

P.S Diablo 3 is coming out really soon, so that will be the optimal test for me as it is the game I plan on playing the most.

Oh and if im bored one day, I might try bf3 on this, but I doubt it.

Also, every once in awhile the laptop fans will just rev up really loud for no reason lol... Stops after about 15-20 seconds. Unless im gaming, then the laptop roars and heats up (but not over-heats)

5 out of 5 eggsBeast

Pros: This thing is a monster. Whoever built this had murder on his mind. This thing can take anything I throw at it. Including small children. It weights more than a child and is harder than my solid oak door.

The built in speakers are AMAZING! These are high quality speakers that can deliver a decent punch. Oh, and the subwoofer underneath the laptop only helps.

GFX are great. Crysis 2 can be played on Ultra w/o AA with >25 fps

The Sandy Bridge i7 @ 2.2ghz is a little overkill, which is why I like it.

For some reason this model has 8gb of ram, when the same model on every other site only has 6... I'm not complaining. Plus, ddr3 at those speeds are niceeee

Cons: The battery charger is huge. It is literally the size of a brick. It sort of reminds me of those ridiculously oversized cell phones from the 90s. Except it's my laptop charger and it's 2012...

Though, this thing doesn't mess around when it comes to performance. It's literally a tower pc shrunk down to fit on my lap. So I understand the need to have a nice PSU, but this thing is ridiculous. Id say it's 9"x2"x4"

Other Thoughts: Windows Experience Index:
Processor - 7.5
Memory (Ram) - 7.6
Graphics - 7.1
Gaming Graphics - 7.1
Primary Hard Disk - 5.9

With a laptop, you really can't get any higher than that without getting an SSD. So it is what it is.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdated Review! Still AWESOME GAMING PERFORMANCE!

Pros: Nice 17.3" Screen
Back-lit keyboard
Geforce GTX560M GPU (Plays any game you throw at it!)
Intel Core I7 Quad Core
Harmon/Kardon Speakers w/Subwoofer (GOT TO BE HEARD!!)
Blu-ray Drive
Throttling has been fixed (1.6 firmware)

Cons: Screen isn't 1080p. (1600x900)
Battery life is a step back from the X505 series from Toshiba.
Included Blu-ray player software is broken! Luckily had a copy of Power DVD 11.

Other Thoughts: I would like to thank Eric Paulsen of Toshiba (@toshibaeric on Twitter). My last review consisted of my laptop missing a F12 key when it arrived. Contacted Eric on twitter. Within 12 DM's on twitter he had a box being sent to me for my laptop for repair. Within three weeks I got my laptop back and it's all good. You earned back your 5 star review!

5 out of 5 eggshuh?

Pros: I own the Qosmio X775-Q7380 (great laptop by the way)
Hey newegg, how can the one star review dealing with Toshiba direct have a place in this review section? It's totally irrelevant and unhelpful for people interesting in this laptop.

Cons: Previous review should've been filtered out.
