5 out of 5 eggsLoving My Chromebook

Pros: For a laptop, it can do everything I want. With WiFi networks all over the place now, I can use it just about anywhere without having to have a Verizon plan. It's super light too, I can easily hold it and use it at the same time without having to rest it on anything. Also, I love that it's synced to my Google Account, I logged in for the first time after getting it, and all my auto fills, saved passwords, and bookmarks imported into the computer. And the battery life beats any of my friends's computers. It works great for what it's for.

Cons: I wish I had at least one more USB port on the computer, with only two, I'm limited with what I can do, I like to use external speakers because the built in ones don't get very loud, but my speakers are USB, so that leaves me with only one port left. I would like three or four ports. Also, a cd tray would be nice, I know it's supposed to be an internet computer, but it would be nice to be able to watch videos and listen to music from cds.

Other Thoughts: The processing is slower than I'm used to, 1.66 Ghz, but it's not usually a problem since all I do is browse the web. The keyboard takes some getting used to, they took out a few buttons (no caps lock for instance) but it didn't take long to get used to it.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This thing is lightweight and sturdy enough (more so than my macbook at least). It does everything I wanted it to and even more. I only got this for word processing, news, email, etc., but it runs netflix and streaming video a lot smoother than I thought it would.

Cons: The touch pad is not the smoothest (it's good enough, but not great), and it arrived with a broken key (it is functional, but pops up it I press the top of it).

Other Thoughts: This is great for what it is meant to do, which is go online. And if you don't have internet access at the time, it even still lets you take some notes or do minor things. If you need something, small, quick, handy, and relatively cheap, I recommend this.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it

Pros: So far it does exactly what I wanted it to. It's fast, it's light, and it's cool. I already have a high end desktop and laptop that I use for most of my heavy lifting (gaming and web development) but they're inconvenient to haul around for misc use. This is great for when I need something to get on the web and surf.

Cons: No Java. Don't know if they plan on implementing this in the future, but it can cause trouble with some web apps. So far the 2 places I've hit that had trouble was abc's episode streaming site and the online MMO Runescape which both rely on Java Applets to work.

Other Thoughts: Great as a light portable supplement, not the best choice for your ONLY computer unless you have extremely light computing needs. It can do pretty much anything a Windows or Mac OS can do but it might take a little more know how to get it done.

3 out of 5 eggsNeeds Android too

Pros: long bat life
fast startup
light weight

Cons: lack of function offline
moderate performance

Other Thoughts: To really leverage Google products this machine should have dual boot with Android so you can use all those Android apps too. The combined apps and Chrome apps will give the customer real differential whereas just Chrome is lackluster given all that offline non function.

4 out of 5 eggsPerfect for a college student

Pros: -Battery life is incredible. That fact that the SSD allows you to boot up and boot the computer down so quickly saves a lot of battery and allows me to keep my laptop handy for a full day of class.
-Portability of the acer ac700 is amazing. The keyboard is not too small as some netbooks are, so it feels like you are typing on a normal sized keyboard
-Love the removal of the caps lock (replaced by a search key: starts a new tab)
-f1 replacement keys are a great idea
-Chrome logo on the top of the laptop is a great touch

Cons: -The worst part of this buy is the fact that RAM may not be upgraded. I cannot have that many tabs to multi-task as I do on my desktop at home. This may not be an issue for some but I enjoy having 20+ tabs when I am browsing with chrome
-Scrolling can be laggy at times on certain pages ex: Facebook and Twitter ( I am told this is being worked on with the ChromeOS and may not be a hardware issue so much as a software issue)
-Touchpad takes a little getting used to

Other Thoughts: Overall a great computer I use it everyday and it never runs out of battery on me.

5 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Works as expected. Developer mode for great justice!

Cons: The camera is not very good, specifically in poor lighting.

Other Thoughts: Anyone who has a problem with this thing didn't know what they were in for getting a chromebook.

4 out of 5 eggsReally great 2nd computer. Beats iPad

Pros: Not in order: Weight, Startup time, great battery life, Overall usefulness. I'm OK with Google and the whole privacy thing. I grew up in a large family with one bathroom - I'm use to very little privacy. I just hope they keep bringing on the innovations.
I work with a lot of people who have very little money. This is a perfect machine for access to the web. There's not much I can't do on this machine. Skype is the only thing that comes to mind that I can't do. But I have other machines for that and truth be told I don't use Skype very much.

Cons: The touch pad is really not very good. I use a mouse but then I prefer a mouse even on really good laptops. The keyboard took some hours to get use to as well but then any new keyboard takes time. I like it way more than my iPad2. The iPad beats the CB when it comes to any of the imusic and iphoto uses but the CB beats the iPad when it comes to the web. The HDMI of the Acer works well with my TV - I played a Netflix movie on the tv thru the CB it seemed fine.
The worst part about this CB is the touch pad.

Other Thoughts: The Kindle App is really nice and is easier to read than the Kindle app for the ipad. The SkyDrive App will let you create MS Office Docs. Ericom make a "Cloud Internet Explorer" that will allow all you OWA addicted folks to use Outlook Web Access. Evernote, DropBox, Kindle, Skydrive, Netflix, Box, Radio Paradise, Pandora it's all available. It's perfect for a second computer, a travel computer, a student computer, and as a computer for Aunt Millie or any one in you life who tends to get regular computer infections. I'm told it's virus resistant although the Russian mob and Chinese hackers are working on this little defect.

4 out of 5 eggsVery Nice For My Light Computing

Pros: Lighter than many tablets
Larger keyboard than tablet add-ons
Very fast WiFi
Excellent screen resolution
Touchpad is a great idea
No bulky transformer in the power cord
Power cord plug can be reconfigured to fit plugs in any direction
The case is sturdy and doesn't show fingerprints.
The Chrome logo is on the new Acer models!!

Cons: The Cap Lock key is removed in favor of a Search key shortcut...Really?!

Other Thoughts: I've read reviews on many web sites and there were some really negative ones. However, since there are no places (that I know of) to go play with one. I figured the concept was excellent and if it turned out to be a bomb, I'd just return it. I don't see me doing that unless this unit self destructs and I don't see that either.

The Wifi connects instantly and my usual web sites load faster than my Acer dual core running Chrome on Win 7. I have broadband and a Cisco N-class dual band router.

The touchpad is a great innovation and does NOT work like a usual touchpad. I prefer this type.

Display is excellent, sharp and bright.

Setup took all of 2 minutes.

I'm having a hard time finding any; negatives (except any idiot who thought getting rid of the Cap Locks key was a good idea needs to be smacked hard). I'll update as my use increases.
