4 out of 5 eggsThe guts are good

Pros: I have owned this laptop for three years now, and it is above average for my applications. I purchased this primarily for Landscape Design school, and ran AutoCAD, Photoshop, and Sketchup on this rig, Screen size is good, keyboard is nice, battery isn't corrupted.

Cons: It is easy to find faults, here are mine.
Track pad on the laptop is under my left thumb, making it difficult to type as the pad randomly clicks off my palm.
Frame is weak--in that there is a lot of flex when lifting from a corner, leading to screen cutout. Frame strength is hugely important to me as I am always on the move with this, it is not docked ever.

Other Thoughts: I wish this had come with an SSD. It was outperfomed by an ultrabook that did not have dedicated graphics; when rendering sketchup models

3 out of 5 eggsIt's not about the track pad...okay maybe it is

Pros: Fast computer, low price point, and full keyboard which is hard to find on a computer this light.

Cons: Terrible track pad placement, as in right below the spacebar and offset to the left (this might help if you are left handed) and sensitivity, especially if you have sweaty hands (gross I know but a fact) leads to random openings of programs and clicking away from your place if you are trying to type a word doc. After about a year or so of ownership it froze after a sleep cycle and completely corrupted my OS. Had to order the factory recovery disk because the windows made recovery disks didn't work. During the reinstall there was a strange option screen that gave me two options that I couldn't read so I picked the top one and clicked okay. This wasn't terrible except for now I have the Acer splash screen after the windows splash screen.

Other Thoughts: Not great for gaming or editing photos without an additional mouse or a pen and tablet. Does play games on the average settings. Only space for one more Gig of ram.

2 out of 5 eggsBlack Sheep

Pros: Worked wonderfully... for the first year.

Cons: A while back, I started to notice some keys coming loose. No big deal, they weren't ones that I routinely used.

Later, things started to be really laggy and the like, which ultimately resulted in my re-installation of Windows. Since then, it has been nowhere near the performance mark that it was at before then. Decidedly obnoxious, but still manageable.

Most recently, all of the USB ports have developed an annoying habit of calling my USB devices unrecognized. Headset, phone, mouse, etc. Nothing works consistently on this anymore.

One of my friends purchased the same laptop, on my recommendation (before things started to mess up). Hers died within the first 2 months of use, in a "could have burned down the house" sort of fashion.

Other Thoughts: I liked this laptop, I really did. But now I'm out $800, with just a year of use out of it.

5 out of 5 eggsLots of power for the price

Pros: Good Laptop for the money
Ivy Bridge I7
GT 640m
Overall Nice looking

Cons: Screen Resolution a bit low for this day and age

Other Thoughts: That was my only complaint, this was bought for a friend to do minor gaming and to last a long time. It exceeded expectations and runs very nicely as a desktop replacement/laptop. He uses it on a daily basis and it runs everything without any hiccups.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fast, fast, fast! The track pad works very well, important if you don't use a mouse. Also the keyboard is responsive. Handles every game I throw at it.

Cons: Low screen res, weak speakers

Other Thoughts: Great price for a very powerful laptop!

5 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: Nice looking, superb performance and features for the money

Cons: Hard drive speed only 74MB/s, I consider that low for a modern device

Other Thoughts: It ships with the Acer backup utility, using which one can make a backup of the whole hard drive. But then there's a question, how to restore that backup? It was suggested to make a boot able CD, what I did and booted from it, but the app loaded from it does not see the external hard drive with the back up files at all.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop

Pros: i7
Webcam and mic
Great range for wifi
6GB of ram to start is nice

Cons: Wished the FN and CTRL buttons were swapped.

Other Thoughts: Have owned this laptop for 2 months and it is still super great! Resolution is not bad for the price, I understand it is one of the reasons to keep the price low. I do light gaming FPS on it such as COD Mw3 on High settings easy as well as Diablo 3 on Highest setting.

5 out of 5 eggsPhenomenal Acer Laptop

Pros: This laptop does amazing when playing games and I have no trouble at all playing Battlefield 3 on high settings. It has a really nice keyboard and I love the ability to switch between integrated and dedicated graphics cards. The screen looks very nice and I don't notice the difference between this and a 1080 display. The real selling points that you won't find in other laptops in this price range are the Intel 3rd Gen. i7 processor and the Nvidia GT 640m graphics card.

Cons: The battery life isn't great, but what do you expect from a gaming laptop. I noticed a good amount of heat from the vent on the side but the keyboard hardly heats up at all. One thing I would change is the glossy finish. It gets smudged really easily. I don't mind too much, but I know some people are OCD about those things

Other Thoughts: I would recommend a fan or stand for gamers. I would also recommend
