5 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Very decent speeds and performance.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: The egg sold it for $399.99 refurb. It's working great and would buy another.

5 out of 5 eggsI'm impressed!

Pros: Beautiful, large display
Fast performance
Good wifi and Bluetooth
Easily upgradable to Windows 8
Excellent battery life.

Cons: None, other than the usual manufacturer's fluff and filler (easily removed).

Other Thoughts: I've owned this laptop since 9/21, upgraded to Windows 8 in late October, and have had no problems with performance or compatibilty. I like the larger screen since my eyes aren't what they used to be, and was able to reset the default resolution from 1600x900 to 1440x810 with no adverse effects whatsoever (not the easiest thing to do on most laptops I've owned).
Using wifi in full power mode, I am still able to get 3 hours of runtime on a fully charged battery. That's impressive to me! I've never gotten much more than 90 minutes on the Gateways and HPs I've owned.
I would recommend this latop to anyone in the market for a well-built, well-running machine.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat fundamentals, terrible viewing angle

Pros: Fully featured. USB 3, supports Ivy Bridge, 2 HDD trays, has empty 1 mSATA or PCIe slot. 2 DIMM slots, wtih the 4GB RAM being one DIMM. Makes it cheap to just add another 4GB. Bright LED LCD. Light, small power brick. Very good keyboard that's not mushy. Runs cool, fan rarely comes on and is dead silent when used with an SSD. There isn't even an inverter noise unlike CCD based LCDs.

Cons: Viewing angle is terrible. Even facing straight forward the corners are dimmer than the center. Best angle to view is tilted almost toward you more than normal. Colors are strong after major cailbration using Win7's 'calibrate display'. I recommend between 3-4 Page Downs on gamma, 4 PGDN on blue, 2 left arrow ticks on green.

Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for and this makes a great base for a killer Ivy Bridge i7 with RAIDed SSDs. Awesome if you plan on going dual monitor and your primary display will be the 2nd monitor.

5 out of 5 eggsAdding to last review

Pros: Battery life is good - with brightness all the way down, sound and WiFi off, it will definately last over 4 hours. With more normal use it should last at least 2 hours.
Screen has decent angle of view, of course not IBM ThinkPad quality, but with price of $399 it is expected.

Cons: see other review

5 out of 5 eggsGood quality and price

Pros: Good price
large screen
pretty fast for non-gaming purposes
USB 3.0
room for second hard drive,
room for second memory module

Cons: glossy - fingerprint magnet
large - may not fit in some bags
see below

Other Thoughts: Mine has an issue of a DVD drive making a strange noise for a few seconds after a disk is inserted. I talked to Acer's support, and they were extremely helpful, and offered to ship a new DVD drive for me, with me shipping the old one back. However since my current DVD drive is operational, and I didn't want to pay shipping charges, I decided to take chances with the one I have for now. Warranty is one year, so I hope that if it fails, it will still be covered.

3 out of 5 eggsNice Laptop One Flaw

Pros: Fast, Great Optics, Plenty of Options, Add Ons, Very Nice Weight, Slim, Overall Pleased with this Computer

Cons: The details posted for this Computer said The Battery Life was up to 4 Hours. That is a Wishlist. I got exactly 2 hours and 23 minutes on a 100% charged battery. I went on Yahoo and 3 Internet Websites, that's it. The Battery is Horrible!!!!!!

3 out of 5 eggsgreat computer, but has 1 problem

Pros: everything about this computer is great, speed, programs ect

Cons: blue screen, the same day I got my laptop, it would randomly go to a blue screen and automatically reboot, i called acer and they had me do a system restore which took forever and worked for a few hours, but then it started up with the blue screen nonsence again and now i have to send it in to be worked on and have to wait at least 2 more weeks before I get my laptop back, :(
