1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: Works mostly as a computer should

Cons: Bought the computer to work on the internet. To bad the computer (along with many other Acers) have a wifi problem where the computer will drop in and out of internet access. Do not buy. Run away until Acer has a fix.

Other Thoughts: I am actually writing this review on the Acer. And what should have took 10mins, I believe I am on an hour and 10 just to complete due to the dropping of internet.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop

Pros: Great Spec for a laptop under $550

Large Hard Drive

Good integrated Graphics card (It runs all modern games at at least low to medium settings. I have played diablo 3 with some tweaks, Kingdoms of Amalur, Alan Wake which was released for pc this year. The laptop comes comes with Dirt 3 and that game runs very well.

Runs 3D programs well. My primary reason for buying the laptop was for 3D modeling and digital art. I have installed, Blender, Zbrush, Houdini, Photoshop, Corel painter. They all run good.

I have not boosted the laptop to 2.8 Ghz but it still performs well for my needs.

The sound quality is really good

Laptop display quality is excellent as well

Battery lasts for a long time

Cons: Laptop is a fingerprint magnet because of its shinny surface but this isn't problem.

Other Thoughts: Great Laptop for the price.

1 out of 5 eggsWe'll see...

Pros: Great specifications. Runs decently fast, in the few hours I had it.

Cons: Came with the keyboard warped. The number at the top of the "qwerty" had a bulge at #9 key. The key snaps whenever pressed down, not to mention doesn't even work most the time. The surrounding keys suffer the same problem due to the keyboard being warped.

I only noticed this when I tried installed ubuntu w/ w7 dual boot. Then the cd-drive failed. To top that off, when I opened the shipping box, the actual laptop box had a sizable dent that actually cut through the box into the little piece of cardboard supporting the laptop. Needless to say, I wasn't very impressed.

Other Thoughts: Buyer beware I guess. Ill update when I receive a replacement because I can't get a refund for a product that was sent to me so (lack of a better term) ******* up.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Price

Cons: Purchases 7 for the office.

Comes with massive amount of bloatware. Reinstalling Windows is a must.

Hard drive was DOA in one of the seven.

5 out of 5 eggsBest gaming laptop for the $500 range

Pros: - A laptop capable of gaming
- 750gig hard drive
- 6gigs of ram (only 5.5gigs for the OS, GPU uses the other 512megs)
- nice chiclet keyboard layout (and the side 10-key numpad)
- USB 3.0 (thank you!)
- Legacy analog RGB port as well as HMDI (although hdmi port is expected)
- A8-4500m 2.3ghz/2.8ghz CPU
- decent built-in speakers
- bluetooth

For $530, this laptop is an incredible deal IMO. I highly recommend downloading and installing the newest Catalyst drivers for this. And AMD Overdrive if you're a power user/tech minded.

I decided to purchase this instead of upgrading my desktop, because I had some portable pc needs. I wasn't disappointed. I've heard complaints about AMD laptop CPUs compared to Intel's, but I can say that I'm very happy with the performance of the A8-4500m so far. I'm glad I saw this model at the last minute before buying the AS7560G-7622 model.

Cons: I bought a new Acer laptop last year (sold it to a friend recently) that had a nice textured matte finish. Very stylish. This model goes back to the simplistic flat and VERY shiny surface. Not really a con, but I kind of see it as a step backwards. But it's very-very minor complaint. Also, I have no idea why people are referring to it as a finger print magnet; I guess I just have clean hands/fingers?

The other model Acer I was looking at, in the same price range, had a second hard drive bay for upgrading. That was a very attractive feature and I wish this particular model had that as well. That should a more common feature among laptops.

The last minor complaint I have is the screen, but this seems to be the case with almost *all* laptops that I've looked at (sub $800 range). The screen is great/clear/bright, but the viewing angle is rather poor. I mean, compared to a desktop LCD. So when I'm at home, I just use the external/desktop 22" LCD or the 55" 1080p 120hz LCD TV instead.

Other Thoughts: AMD Vision Engine control center allows you to set the min and max speed for 'plugged in' and 'battery' mode profiles. I set Plugged In profile to 1900mhz both min/max, but all the CPU info apps show that the processor is actually running 2.3ghz for that setting (on all four cores). The temps have been hovering at 47c at that setting (pretty decent). Turbo Core thingy says it'll do 2.8ghz, but that's only for 2 cores (not sure what the max is for 4 cores).

The laptop comes with a free Dirt 3 downloadable game/license. I was very impressed at how it handled it (after updating the Catalyst video drivers and setting the cpu speed to max in the profile settings). Ran Batman Arkham Asylum and Just Cause 2 pretty decent as well.

I'll be upgrading all ram to 2x4gig DDR3 1600 CL9 this week (had DDR3 1333 installed).

5 out of 5 eggsAwsome Laptop for $500!

Pros: -Bluetooth 4.0
-Quadcore CPU
-USB 3.0
-Good AMD integrated GPU
-Loud speaker
-HDMI port
-Battery last around 5.5 to 6 hrs with upgraded hardware mentioned below. Must change power option to low plan, turn off Bluetooth, lowest screen brightness. Doing reading, downloading, or idling to achieve that 6hrs result. Any other tasks such as surfing the web, watching movies, or gaming will drain the battery faster, especially gaming.

Cons: -Slow harddrive
-Touchpad randomly activated left-click when moving mouse cursor, bad hardware reliability and design
-Acer software has too many background process running which slow down the booting process and eats up RAM
-Slightly lag on overall system and surfing the web even with Samsung 830 128GB SSD and 1600Mhz RAM
-CPU usage is high from 15% to 50% just to surf the web, which drain the battery faster.

Other Thoughts: Upgraded it with:
-Samsung 830 128GB SSD, the lowest power usage SSD out there.
-ADATA XPG Gaming Series 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz RAM, with 1.35V lowest voltage currently on the market.

-WEI Score on Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 X64
-CPU: 6.7
-RAM: 7.3 (Upgraded)
-Graphics: 6.7
-Hard Disk: 7.9 (Upgraded)

-Doesn't run as fast even with Samsung 830 SSD installed since the chipset is limited to SATA II speed, not maximizing my SSD speed. The same SSD on a desktop makes everything load instantly without lag.
-Getting used to my extreme gaming desktop which max out all WEI score at 7.9 except the CPU at 7.8.
-Compare to my desktop, I'm disappointed since the cpu is still not fast enough to make everything lag free. I'm just being picky here...:)
-So funny, my Samsung 830 SSD is the fastest component in this laptop. This laptop doesn't deserve for such a high-end device. However, Samsung has the lowest power SSD out there, which is perfect for any kind of laptop.
-Overall, good lapt

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Great laptop for the money. Quick performance, extraordinarily strong iGPU. I was able to acquire this open box for much less money, and spent what I saved on a fairly large SSD. Now it boots almost instantly. Battery life is also phenomenal for the performance. Plays L4D2, Tropico 4, New Vegas, all sorts of games at medium or higher settings. Now my Steam library is mobile.

Cons: Touchpad is somewhat inconveniently placed, as I seem to brush against it and interrupt what I was trying to type. This can be solved with a conscious effort.

Other Thoughts: I'd strongly recommend it to a sensible buyer looking to spend less than $700 on a strong general purpose laptop with remarkable gaming capability. These Trinity processors are great. For best results, find software that supports GPU acceleration - leveraging the graphics cores to do compute work makes these things really move.
