5 out of 5 eggsBest laptop I've owned

Pros: The power of a desktop in a laptop. lots of ram, two hard drive bays. plays games really awesome, arkham city, dead space2, battlefield 3 and many more. usb 3.0, hdmi. Warranty department covered power pak without a problem at all.

Cons: Its a little heavy. does not come with second hard drive caddy. The power pack went bad very quick but acer sent a replacement with hardly any questions.

Other Thoughts: This is where I purchased my hard drive caddy.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop

Pros: Great Laptop.
Screen Quality - 5/5 - 1080 makes this thing extremely crisp
Speed- 5/5 - i7 CPU is amazingly fast and at this price, you can't go wrong.
GPU- 5/5 - 640m GPU is really good. Played BF3 at high quality with at ~60fps.

Quality- 5/5 - this laptop is built well and the keyboard feels good w/o any indication of keys becoming loose or broken.

Cons: The mouse pad is a little too close to my left hand for me. ONce in a while when typing i will scroll somewhere and mess up my typing. This can get a bit annoying.

Other Thoughts: Great laptop specs for the price. Can't beat it.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Really fast, great video, plays games great (WoW and Diablo III)

Cons: After about a week of use, both shift keys simultaneously started getting buggy, stopped working and started again, and eventually stopped working altogether.

Other Thoughts: Really liked the computer overall, but the shift key issue is a big problem. In contact with Acer at the moment to have it taken care of.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat bang for the buck

Pros: Very fast, nice graphics plays most games. big screen. great price. True Quad core I7. Be careful guys....some mobile i7's are not quad core! Upgradeable to ivy bridge and WILL take 32gb cas 9 ram....if you can find it. Smooth transition between on board and nvidia graphics when you start a game. m-sata port next to memory slots. 4 memory slots and 2 hard drive bays!

Cons: Not an ivy bridge. screen has bad viewing angles and is not full hd!(1600x900 not 1920x1080) not as bright as some screens i've seen. Fan can get loudish but not unbearable. Screen is kind of must be taken when opening to avoid screen/hinge damage. "piano black" finish attracts fingerprints/dust like mad...after 5 minutes out of the box it looked dirty. no blue-ray. Does not come with Hard drive bracket for second bay, but easily acquired for under $25 at

Other Thoughts: Had it for 3 weeks now and running great. Upgraded to a vertex 4 and 32gb ram. relegated the 5400rpm spinner to the other bay for storage. this machine is great desktop replacement that plays games great at a great price!

3 out of 5 eggsHm, A little too soon...

Pros: A great screen and quite zippy fast. Love the computer. If you're looking for a computer that can run CS6 nicely and all the programs that go along with that, this is it.

Cons: Well, we needed to return the first one we had due to the yellow streak across the monitor. This happened about three weeks into our ownership. Heard this is caused by some rare hardware issue. Not to sure. Sent in an RMA which has been processed fast. (More a pro than a con.) So I have to knock off an egg for this reason.

Other Thoughts: Other than the screen's yellow streak, this computer is awesome. Just don't be cheap and not get the warranty with it. I'll update again once I get in my new one.

4 out of 5 eggsCan't go wrong with Acer & Newegg

Pros: As always, Acer combined with Newegg spells quality products for great prices. You probably won't find laptops from other manufacturers at this price range with the same specs.

Cons: A broken plastic socket along with the screw inside was discovered when I opened my CD drive for the first time. I don't really use CDs anymore so that shouldn't be a big deal, hopefully that won't bite me in the rear in the future.

Other Thoughts: I'm very happy with Acer and Newegg as I get the most for my money. Big props to both companies and I hope to see the same each time I return to shop.

4 out of 5 eggsAmazing and unprecedented price

Pros: -Very well priced relative to its high specs
-USB 3.0
-17 inch screen
-Larger and slightly more comfortable keyboard than an average laptop

Cons: -Low resolution for such a large screen size
-Practically unusable mousepad, stiff and hard to use without having it absorb your skin oils first
-The left and right mouse buttons are gigantic and the buttons can only be pressed from the outside, making it even more uncomfortable to use
-Keyboard is garbage, as are all laptop keyboards
-Comes filled with bloatware although it is manageable and not as invasive as Dell's or Lenovo's in my experience
-You get some of the worst technical and customer support in computing history

Other Thoughts: So far the laptop is promising and is very well priced for it's specifications, a deal unprecedented in any other store. Hopefully it isn't too good to be true.

5 out of 5 eggsValue!!!

Pros: The hardware you get for the price is incredible. BF3 and Guild Wars 2 play very well. It also has 4 slots for Ram and only two are in use and the extra hard drive bay is nice.

Cons: Black glossy finish shows fingerprints! Small price to pay for the hardware specs at this price point though. Hard drive is slow (5400rpm). I would recommend a SSD in the free slot (doesn't come with caddy).

Other Thoughts: BF3 64 player multiplayer on High (20-30FPS) Medium (30-40FPS) Low(45+FPS)

This thing does warm up during gaming the i7 can approach 90C and the GPU can approach 70C. So i would recommend a cooler if you plan to use it for extended heavy gaming.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat, Cheap, Gaming Machine!

Pros: This is a great gaming machine for people who can't afford those thousand dollar gaming rigs. The i7 paired with the 640m along with 8gb of ram, you can max out Mw3 and get HIGH settings on Bf3.

Cons: I don't like the size, it's a little big. Also you WILL get fingerprints on it, but that is a small price to pay.

Other Thoughts: Couple hundred bucks short for an Alienware? Get this.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Same as the last guy with a little research i could not find a better deal anywhere. Big 17 inch screen, GReat gpu, 16gig max memory, and two hdd slots. Once upgraded using previous guys instructions on how to install the ssd. it zooms..

Cons: none that i can think of

Other Thoughts: I have tried MSI gaming laptops and even alienware. I would put this laptop up against them all. it screams through wow and bf. League of legends while streaming is a breeze everything while going at 70+ fps with full graphics
