2 out of 5 eggsAnd then they sent me a survey...

Pros: Max RAM specs *SEE OTHER**

It has the graphics, processor, and ram specifications to run most games out there on lower settings if you're a gamer on the go. There's not much more that you can get out of laptops that is comparable to building a decent gaming rig in a micro-ATX case and lugging a monitor/keyboard around with you. If it weren't for the cons, I would have given it more stars, but...

Cons: I could go on a rant here, but I decided to make a list instead:
-Poor (read "no") documentation on max ram specs. I eventually had to take a chance on what I'd gleamed from user reviews and make a blind purchase.
-Customer service is no help if you have an issue worse than "how do I turn on my mouse/wifi?"
-Win8 drivers would be considered in beta, practically
-Smaller screen res than would be considered gamer favorable.
-Keyboard registers about 2/3 of the keystrokes, unless you're very accurate with your typing skills. A couple of beers in, and I was flying my Galaxy into the ground in Planetside 2.
-I never was able to get the Win7 drivers to work with the mousepad or wireless display port.
-Documentation is as generic as it gets. They teach you how to turn on the computer, use the function keys, and then send you packing.

Other Thoughts: MAX RAM SUPPORTED: 2x8gb DDR3 1600mhz
There. That's what took over my warranty period and a couple of frustrating weekends to take a chance on a user review and be lucky/right.

I've bought many of Acer products, but apparently the only thing in recent years has been their monitors. It would seem that their customer service is non-existent, but I'd never had a reason to consult them until this incident. I won't be purchasing anything from them unless they make some *serious* improvements to their customer service and product quality. How hard is it to simply put a model specific documentation for the several hundred dollars you've spent on a product?

4 out of 5 eggsGood laptop. Really is.

Pros: Good battery life in my opinion.
GT640M 2gb.
i7 quad is always nice with that turbo boost.
6gb ddr3 ram

Cons: Ok-ish wireless card. Not as good as my last laptop. Getting dropped signals here and there.

Gets fast really quick. Nvidia drivers blue screen me a lot :P
Was thinking about RMAing but I need the laptop so I'll deal with it.

Other Thoughts: I think it's ok. I bought this after I sold my gaming rig since it was drawing too much power. I like how compact it is and how light it is.

Would prefer AMD card in it though.

-1 egg for bad nvidia card.

5 out of 5 eggsNice laptop

Pros: Fast laptop, nice screen, good keyboard (with small caveat; see Cons).

Cons: Windows 8 is not a great OS for a laptop. It seems to be designed to make your computer into an extension of your smartphone, and while you can change that piece by piece I think it's kind of annoying. But apparently that's fine with Microsoft and soon to be universal for non-Apple laptops. I may end up "downgrading" to Windows 7...
Minor issue: full-sized keyboard with number pad took a little getting used to, since the letter keys are off-center.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop

Pros: I love this laptop a lot. I wanted a great laptop for school, work and a little gaming on the side and it fits the bill. It was a great price for what it comes with.

Cons: Don't really like the windows 8, but I am working with it and it is getting better

Other Thoughts: My old laptop had a button to turn off the touch pad for typing. this one didn't but has a shortcut for it that i recently found.

4 out of 5 eggsVery powerful, some very minor flaws

Pros: The GeForce GT 640M is really good for gaming. I can easily play Skyrim on Ultra settings with an ENB. The i7 is supper powerful, and the 6GB of RAM is plenty.
The screen resolution is 1366x768, which isn't too weird, but isn't too common either, and I've seem many desktop wallpapers don't come in 1366x768. The resolution is really good, and is actually higher resolution than 720p.

Cons: The webcam, for me, came broken. It didn't come with drivers for it, and when I finally found them, it said it didn't recognize a webcam at all. I'm not too concerned about not having a webcam, I wouldn't use it very much at all anyway.
The DVD drive is SUPER flimsy, and I truly think it will snap off any time now. I mainly use Steam, so that's not too much of a problem for me.

Other Thoughts: There are other laptops I've seen for about the same price with a GT 650M, but with an i5(usually 3225) and I think the better CPU in this makes up for the better GPU in the other laptops.
I like to connect this to my TV with HDMI and play games in 1080p.

5 out of 5 eggsI love the hardware, I HATE the software

Pros: GT640M, a true quad i7, not the "partitioned" dual core shenanigans. Very sleek, everything is great about it hardware wise.

Cons: WINDOWS 8, I thought to myself "How bad could it be?".
Turns out I was in for a surprise. I have not hated an OS this much since WebOS. It seems to be lacking compatibility with common programs, such as Steam, and Origin.

Other Thoughts: This laptop would be PERFECT if only it had Windows 7. Other than that, it is very fast and as far an im concerned it is a gaming laptop.

I bought this laptop for 699.99$, then 3 hours later they bumped the price to 749.99$

Oh and it turns out the Newegg 2 day shipping is actually 4 day shipping, waste of 30$.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Deal

Pros: This a great mid grade laptop for the price. It is great for not only casual computing but it works great with any game I have put on it. The graphics card is great. I like to use the HDMI jack to plug into 47" TV. Works great but you have to alter the resolution a little to fit the screen right.

Cons: Really the only con is the HDD is 5400 RPM. so yeah I have a to maybe wait a little longer for my game to load up but once I am online no hiccups. I recommend upgrading the memory. I have 16 gigs in mine and if you really want to make it scream a SSD drive never hurts.

Other Thoughts: BUY IT!!!!! you won't find a better deal.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Hardware

Pros: First off, along with buying this I also got a Corsair Force Series GS 180 GB drive and 8gb of Corsair Vengeance Ram. I also didn't even test out Win 8, I immediately swapped the drives and did a fresh install of Win 7.

Anyways, keyboard feels good to me, love the full size numpad, trackpad better than average, speakers better than average, CPU is the reason I got, it mine got a ~7300 cpu passmark score. GPU is nice for the price you pay for all things considered. Runs cool, battery life not terrible if you know to how optimize your system.

Cons: I almost gave it 4 eggs but decided not to because this is based off SSD performance.

My Corsair Force GS is getting ~380/250 for seq. read/write in crystaldiskmark. Intel RST says it has a 6gbs connection, and 380 wouldn't be possible on a SATA II... I've spent a lot time trying to get it to run up to spec, including tweaks that addressed issues the HM55 chipset was having with SSD speeds, but no dice. However this is HM77, and I could only find one other person with this same issue and no one responded to him. And yes, upon my testing the SSD got 510/505 seq. read/write on another system. (very close to rated)

Other Thoughts: Overall I'm still very happy, which is why I gave it 5 stars.

5 out of 5 eggsAcer Aspire V3-571G-9686 Notebook

Pros: {{{{The Ultimate Warrior}}}} Got this machine, fired it up to see what was under the hood, booted down and did my thing. Maxed out the memory to 8 gigs, dumped the hard drive and added OCZ 120 gig Vertex 4, loaded Windows 7 Ultimate. I owned 3 other Acers and never got the Windows Experience Index above 5 because of the video card, but this one was different. My Windows Experience Index peaked at 7.9 With a few registry tweeks, she boots from dead to full boot in 7 seconds and boots down in 5. I'm overlooking the screen quality because I running it through a I-Inc 26" monitor. I'm only using it to stream live video to the internet from aboard a fishing charter boat used for fishing tournaments, and this machine puts my old one of doing this, to shame

Cons: Absolutely none
