Would this laptop be decent for a portable workstation for Maya and Adobe software? I already have a beefy desktop for rendering and working at home, just looking for something more portable and not crazy expensive.

I use adobe on it and it seems pretty good to me. My InDesign and Photoshop are older but run well. I've never had Maya so cannot comment on that. Best wishes.

I saw somewhere else the hard drive is 5400 rpm. Is it actually 7200 or 5400 rpm?

the specs on the laptop I bought had 5400 rpm on it. I'm planning on upgrading in 6 - 12 months to an SSD thought with the NVIDIA graphics I don't see too bad of a hit from the 5400.

Is the OS 32-bit or 64-bit?

64 bit but you can still run 32 bit applications. tom

How bit is graphic card?

It has an integrated Intel graphics card (HD graphics 4600) as well as the 2gb Nvidia Geforce GT 740M, the physical specs should be found on either the Nvidia site or a quick google search.

Can I 16 or up memory ram later on?

Yes you can up to 16GB, maybe 32 but I don't think so.
