Asus put a Turion 64 X2 TL-56 processor running at 1.8GHz into the F3T-AP042C notebook for a great balance between performance and power consumption. The GeForce Go 7600 GPU has a dedicated 256MB to run Vista's advanced features without digging into the 1GB of system memory. All that power would be nothing without some way to display it. The 15.4" WXGA screen fits the bill perfectly.
Communication is important no matter what you are doing. That's why Asus built in a Gigabit Ethernet port. They also installed a highly advanced wireless setup that's compatible with 802.11b/g. Of course, you can always go the nostalgic route and use the modem. Asus brings it home, and does so at a great value!

Great Laptop/Great Price
- Pros: The laptop is fast. It runs games great. I tested Unreal Tournament 2004 at the maximum on graphics and it's as smooth as silk. (The card is a 256MB card and doesn't share the 1024MB from the motherboard. Not having an onboard card was my main reason for buying this laptop). The speakers are loud because of their placement above the keyboard instead of on the front of the laptop like so many others. All the ports are easy to get to because they aren't on the back. The screen looks great. There is plenty of wrist room below the keyboard. The built in webcam and mic are also a great addition. The power supply plug is at a right angle rather than straight out so it doesn't get bent so easily. And the laptop comes with a pretty decent case and mouse!
- Cons: There are only a couple that I've found. It's pretty heavy, but if you're paying for one this size with this sort of gaming power you can't really expect it to be 4 pounds. The battery does NOT last 4 hours as the description says!! This was an important aspect to me in my purchasing as my last laptop barely lasted over an hour. You should be able to get right at 2 hours out of the battery on this ASUS. Anything more is a stretch even with the battery saving mode on. (There may be a way to turn off some things in the BIOS to save power. I've yet to test that). It also runs pretty hot. The wrist-rest gets pretty warm to the touch and keeping it in your lap for an extended period of time isn't comfortable either. I guess it's the price one must pay for power.
- Other Thoughts: For the price (IMHO) this has to be the best laptop out there. Other than the shorter than 4 hour battery life it should match up pretty well with any intel chipset in its price range and slightly beyond. You won't find a competing Intel with a 7600 videocard for anywhere near this price. Plan on spending around 50% more for that. Overall it's a great laptop and even with the cons I've looked again at more laptops and it's still the best choice for me. As far as VISTA goes....I don't have much to say. Personally I'm not fond of it, but I got it because as a technician I have to keep up with the latest and before long I'll be working with it daily....Just buy the laptop...Newegg Rocks!
Best buy for the money, hands down
- Pros: nvidia 7600 go card w/ 256mb dedicated memory - that right there basically sold me. i was looking to build an alienware, and with that video card and lower harddrive space and an intel processor it was almost twice as much as this baby. the dual core turion processor is fantastic, ill always pick amd over intel, they just put much better work into their products. plays halo on highest res. w/ everything on max graphics with perfect framerate, and i have a feeling there wont be another game for a few years this laptop cant handle. put another gig ram stick into it, im sure that helped as well.
- Cons: battery life even w/ battery saving mode on is only about an hour and 52 minutes, im going to look into getting a better battery. the armwrest portion of the laptop gets rather hot as well, and i wish it had media buttons like my buddy's hp; however, w/ all the pros performance-wise this laptop is better than his for less money.
- Other Thoughts: vista is very smooth, gorgeous looking, especially on this screen. took a while for me to get it to communicate w/ my xp-equipped desktop so i could transfer files tho, and i still really dont know how i got it to work.

- Pros: Very fast, great with games, screen is outstanding.
- Cons: Should ship with 2GB, initial Vista setup is terrible
- Other Thoughts: I purchased this laptop along with a Corsair VS1GSDS667D2 DIMM to add a second gig. The laptop is a great value even without the added RAM, it plays games like Oblivion acceptably well at 1280x800 and pretty much everything about the hardware is top notch. Even the little USB mouse it comes with is good for gaming.
The only bad thing was the Vista setup. The out of box experience is terrible, the machine just bogs down as it tries to update Vista, Norton, Windows Defender, etc, and all of the Vista security stuff is a nightmare. Removing norton, disabling UAC, and disabling Windows Search service made all the difference. It's now just as useable as my XP desktop, even with all of the Aero visual effects enabled -- the video card is more than able to handle that, it scores a 4.8 on the Vista Experience graphics ratings.
Adding the RAM was a snap, just unscrew the big panel and pop the DIMM into the free socket. The laptop automatically detects it without going into the BIOS
nice laptop
- Pros: Looks sleek, webcam is handy, runs nice. This was my first laptop, and the power functions were easy to use.
- Cons: Video performance was less than I had expected. Maybe I didn't get my research right. Gets really hot, as any laptop.
- Other Thoughts: Good, solid laptop. I don't regret the purchase. Hat tip to ASUS and Newegg.
Love it ^_^
- Pros: Wonderful Laptop for the price, runs all the games, software, and multimedia my wife and I play without any issues. Windows Vista is a dream with 2gigs ram.
- Cons: Occasionally loses the wireless signal and the battery time is a bit low.
- Other Thoughts: I did a lot of research for a laptop for my wife and I and was a bit hesitant on this item but after we had it for this long we cannot live without it. Thank you ASUS and Thank you also Newegg.
