Asus put a Turion 64 X2 TL-56 processor running at 1.8GHz into the F3T-AP042C notebook for a great balance between performance and power consumption. The GeForce Go 7600 GPU has a dedicated 256MB to run Vista's advanced features without digging into the 1GB of system memory. All that power would be nothing without some way to display it. The 15.4" WXGA screen fits the bill perfectly.

Communication is important no matter what you are doing. That's why Asus built in a Gigabit Ethernet port. They also installed a highly advanced wireless setup that's compatible with 802.11b/g. Of course, you can always go the nostalgic route and use the modem. Asus brings it home, and does so at a great value!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very fast, great with games, screen is outstanding.

Cons: Should ship with 2GB, initial Vista setup is terrible

Other Thoughts: I purchased this laptop along with a Corsair VS1GSDS667D2 DIMM to add a second gig. The laptop is a great value even without the added RAM, it plays games like Oblivion acceptably well at 1280x800 and pretty much everything about the hardware is top notch. Even the little USB mouse it comes with is good for gaming.

The only bad thing was the Vista setup. The out of box experience is terrible, the machine just bogs down as it tries to update Vista, Norton, Windows Defender, etc, and all of the Vista security stuff is a nightmare. Removing norton, disabling UAC, and disabling Windows Search service made all the difference. It's now just as useable as my XP desktop, even with all of the Aero visual effects enabled -- the video card is more than able to handle that, it scores a 4.8 on the Vista Experience graphics ratings.

Adding the RAM was a snap, just unscrew the big panel and pop the DIMM into the free socket. The laptop automatically detects it without going into the BIOS

5 out of 5 eggsnice laptop

Pros: Looks sleek, webcam is handy, runs nice. This was my first laptop, and the power functions were easy to use.

Cons: Video performance was less than I had expected. Maybe I didn't get my research right. Gets really hot, as any laptop.

Other Thoughts: Good, solid laptop. I don't regret the purchase. Hat tip to ASUS and Newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it ^_^

Pros: Wonderful Laptop for the price, runs all the games, software, and multimedia my wife and I play without any issues. Windows Vista is a dream with 2gigs ram.

Cons: Occasionally loses the wireless signal and the battery time is a bit low.

Other Thoughts: I did a lot of research for a laptop for my wife and I and was a bit hesitant on this item but after we had it for this long we cannot live without it. Thank you ASUS and Thank you also Newegg.

4 out of 5 eggsThis laptop...

Pros: Fast little bugger, runs XP great, lightweight. This laptop is the first i bought, and so far it is working fine. It operates well enough as long as its plugged in.

Cons: Came preloaded with Vista, which is very resource consuming and this laptop needs one less such thing. The batter sucks and I have searched everywhere to find a longer lasting battery, to no avail. life is about 1hr30mins. This is not acceptable for mobility, and it is very disappointing. There is also the matter of the temperature of the video card. It has become so hot, I was nearly burned by it. Get a cooling mat and watch out for the power adapter as well.

Other Thoughts: Contrary to some reviews, the support site offers great access and ease of downloading to XP drivers. I enjoy Asus, but i think i should have save up a bit more and bought a better laptop... I do occasionally have problems, but those are related to the OS not necessarily the laptop...

5 out of 5 eggsASUS F3T

Pros: I looked at many different models and brands before settling on this model. It is, I think the best for the money out there. Using a Link sys router I have had no problems and always get an excellent signal, even in my back yard. It worked well right off the bat and continues to perform at top levels. Dedicated memory for the video card is a real plus.

Cons: It throws a lot of heat, and there is a high pitch noise which I believe the comes from the cooling fan. The North bridge software detects a problem with the hard drive until Windows update finally fixed the problem.

Other Thoughts: I really like he fact that the video has dedicated memory, this is the one feature that sold me on this unit more than any other. This unit also comes with a lot of accessories like a nice little mouse and decent carrying case.

4 out of 5 eggsBest gamer laptop for price

Pros: Exactly as I expected, runs games great, oblivion & battlefield 2. Runs everything beautifully after I upgraded to 2GB RAM. Came with a few unexpected extras (bluetooth, lightscribe). Screen bright and clear, Hard Drive partitioned into 2x 50/50 partitions which I like. Vista is purrrty.

Cons: Gets HOT on right top by your hand when typing, and if sitting on your lap (get a cooling pad). NEEDS the 2GB RAM upgrade (vista's fault). Graphics drivers out of date and ONLY can get them from ASUS-they need to get an update out! WIFI card does drop sometimes when it's stressed with a heavy load(200kbps+). VERY ANNOYING.

Other Thoughts: Battery life is 1.5 hours, I expected this even though ASUS advertises 4 hours - yeah, not a chance. OVERALL this is by far the best deal laptop I've had, despite the cons, it does do what I expected and a bit more, I recommend it!

1 out of 5 eggsNever Again, 11 rmas, same problems

Pros: Good for Mid/Lower High end gaming. Played oblivion, warcraft 3, anno 1701, civ 4, WoW.

Cons: Wireless card does not work under heavy load. Its not my router, have a brand new n dlink. Tested on 4 others. Under heavy load, or any network transfers, for example if u listen to mp3s from another comp, it will drop. Had 11 rmas, 4 of them were that i could not instal the asus os from the asus os recovery dvd. some firmware issue, they fix, as soon as i instal my own os, i can not go back to the asus one. Wireless has no drivers updates, microsoft had 5 already from windows vista update. Sound driver outdated 8 versions from the official realtek one. Asus does not update period. For wifi problems and countless others (see the forum over 10 pages long) they only blame vista

Other Thoughts: I dont want to bash asus, my experience level is very high, therefore i tried every fix avalable, still wifi would not work, till i took out an itel one and put in myself. Tech support is good, most of the time, RMA takes about 7b. days, i know because i had 11 of them. Had the notebook replaced after 6th one by asus, same problems continued. Stay away, get another model, or maybe an HP.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Nice looking screen. Definitely powerful enough to play most newer games pretty decently. I popped an extra gig of RAM in, and it runs like a champ.

Cons: The Vista wireless drivers seem kind of flakey. It is hard for me to stay connected to my router for more than a couple of minutes. However I have no problems when I am booted into Linux or XP. The battery life is kind of a bummer, but I can usually squeeze 2 hours or so out of it.

Other Thoughts: All in all a great machine. I would not hesitate to buy another Asus product.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop

Pros: Well built, really Stylish Look, Free bag is well made and is a good perk, Performance is excellent considering its a Vista machine/laptop, Counterstrike: Source runs at native res with most settings maxed (No AA or AF) at about 45-80 frames on stock maps.

Cons: Battery Life is a little lacking, about an Hour and 15 minutes when Playing a Graphically intensive game at max brightness with no sound, but for the performance its not really a complaint. Gets A Little Warm around where your left hand sits when you're typing, but its not really all that much of a problem. They made 2 separate partitions ( One for Data and One for The OS ) which kind of gets on my nerves, I guess I can re-format if it really starts to bother me.

Other Thoughts: If you have the cash, this is probably the best laptop for it. ASUS always makes quality stuff. Oh.. and Get another Gig o' Ram for this, you definitely won't regret it.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat, No Batt.

Pros: The computer is great for the money you put into it.. It needs the 1 gig. mem upgrade, but that can be bought rather cheap from your local store or Newegg. Defiantly would not trade this notebook for any other under $1100. Plus Asus products have never served me wrong in the past.

Cons: The battery that comes with the computer does not hold the charge for more than an hour or so on high performance. If you turn it down to "Battery saving" level. It does fine, but you can forget the high performance at that level.

Other Thoughts: Great notebook, only gave it a 4 because of the battery life, and the lower resolution screen.
