Great desktop replacement
- Pros: Has everything in one package - dedicated video w/512MB for games, DVD-RAM, built-in video camera and mic, light weight & small size, looks pretty good too.
- Cons: North American model does NOT come with bluetooth but has button and LED indicator for the option. My touchpad came slightly warped, but it's functional (I never use it, have wireless mouse). Battery lasts a little less than 3 hours with limited use... heavy use like games is much less.
- Other Thoughts: I love this laptop. It replaced an HP dv5000 series with integrated video (and was HEAVY), so now I can play games (when I have the time). I purchased the 2nd GB of RAM when I bought it and upgraded before even powering it up. I installed the ASUS BT-183 bluetooth module myself for around $20... don't forget to buy the little cable too!!! The drivers were harder to find - get from Toshiba. Now this thing is awesome, wireless mouse, wireless headset and sync with my PDA and NO WIRES!!!
Oh, Newegg delivered next day with 3 day shipping! I love shopping at Newegg!!!
I wouldnt buy again...
- Pros: Overall it looks fine, it is kind of fast (when it works).
- Cons: Quality of build is bad. First when I turned it on I got blue screen - the system wasn't shut down properly. The battery was bad - after waiting 1 hour for customer service now I am waiting a second week for a new battery... Windows hangs on on start and doesn't do anything... The right mouse button doesnt work properly from time to time... I would return it but there is no way. I am stuck with it now...
- Other Thoughts: It is really depressing getting something brand new and very expensive and when it has several defects out of the box... Now I am reinstalling windows, hopefully that will fix it. My honest advice is go with other brand...
Great for travel, school, and on the go!
- Pros: I love this little laptop. with the screen at a low brightness level and things set to generally low I can get about 4 hours of battery life! Very quick, haven't had any glitches and was a piece of cake to install an extra gig of ram to give it 2 gigs. It runs smooth and cool. Very pleased.
- Cons: came with only 1 gig of ram, but I would rather fork up the forty bucks for the extra gig and not spend several hundred extra that already have two gigs in already.
- Other Thoughts: Burns DVDs well with Roxio 7 and to add more ram, just unscrew 4 screws in the bottom and pop it in! Wireless power seems to be strong too. I use it at school and haven't had any problems.
