4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: amazing display for the money... great wifi and speedy system ... finally got windows xp and it screams...lots of trouble with the sound drivers CRYSIS runs well at moderately high settings so that should give an idea on

Cons: difficult to install windows xp drivers not available from ASUS...and difficult to make a hardware inventory

4 out of 5 eggsAmazing Laptop

Pros: Works amazing for all purposes. Great FPS in all games. Plays movies and music perfect. Amazing picture. Quite powerful

Cons: The asus live updates auto updated my bios. Lost all audio in all games. Can still watch movies and listen to music. Counter Strike or call of duty 4 have no sound what so ever and i can't seem to find a way to make it work. The touch pad cannot be disabled now either. Laptop comes with vista and i cannot find any xp drivers to load xp on it.

Other Thoughts: Well worth the money and very powerful. Ignore a majority of the updates and you should not have a problem. If anyone has a fix for the sound or touch pad issue feel free to e-mail me (especially if your from asus). Haven't seen anyone else with these problems so I would recommend you get it.

5 out of 5 eggsGREAT!

Pros: Beautiful screen resolution & color/vibrancy, solid, powerful, stable, and reliable. I've owned the ASUS G2S-B2 Notebook for about 2 1/2 months, and can't say enough good things! From startup, I have had no issues - Not even with Vista. I also have had no issue with installing all kinds of software. No issues with overheating either. Bloatware? Just uninstall what you don’t want on there – Easy. I run a Graphic & Web Design business, creating a lot of complicated graphic renderings and Flash movies - This notebook has never bogged down, hesitated, or frozen up. It also runs all of my 1st person shooter games and all other hi-graphic games with no issue. Very smooth scrolling, and a wide field of view due to the hi-res widescreen. The backpack case is very roomy, and has enough space for everything one needs when going remote. I barely use my desktop now! 3 people who I have demo’d the notebook to were so excited after seeing/playing with it, they are now purchasing one! A highly usable

Cons: It is heavier than normal, but it doesn't bother me at all. The backpack carrying case works well. I suggest first - Uninstall the random software you don’t need that came preloaded, and update the video drivers to the NBF MobileForce VS 169.04 M6. Easy, and well worth it.

Other Thoughts: After months of online research, I am so glad a friend told me about this notebook. There are no others on the market that offer a 17.0" Wide UXGA screen for this price - Make sure you buy UXGA or be sorely disappointed.

I'm VERY happy with my purchase!!

2 out of 5 eggsIf you buy this and not the G2S-B1

Pros: It's a great laptop

Cons: Price

Other Thoughts: If you buy this laptop instead of the G2S-B1 give me the money and I'll sell you a new one for cheaper that price listed currently. HINT, I'll buy the G2S-B1 and buy a 4GB of dual channel rams and install it and save alot of money. Come on guys it's the same laptop with just the ram being 4 instead of 2GB are you kidding me? I own the G2S-B1 and with 4GB of heat sinked dual channel rams, I think mine runs better than this B2 model. I paid whole lot less and also got me a cooling pad and ummm, still have money left over hahahha.

5 out of 5 eggsExtremely Pleased

Pros: ASUS brand, fast dual-core CPU, beautiful high-res display, adequate RAM (maxed for 32-bit OS anyway), large and fast laptop hard-drive, dedicated DX10 video, draft-N wireless, bluetooth, included mouse and backpack. OLED display is a nice touch.

Cons: Laptops this size are all heavy, this is no exception. Factory install of Vista is a bit flaky and bloated.

Other Thoughts: I couldn't ask for more in this price range. I use this rig to record single or stereo tracks through an MBOX2 w/ ProTools 7.4, while playing MP3 tracks in Winamp, streaming the recording through Skype, and sometimes browsing the web in Firefox. I have had ZERO ISSUES. I also do some web developing in Adobe CS3 Web Premium. I am VERY happy with this laptop! It is noticeably more sturdy and performance engineered than my Gateway NX860XL I had previously. Can't go wrong with this one!

4 out of 5 eggsAsus G2S-B2

Pros: Super fast unit. I bought this as a desktop replacement moreso than an all out gaming machine. For the games I do play, it outperforms anything I've ever used. Other software such as audio recording and editing are totally seamless and it still allows me to take care of other demanding applications simultaniously.

The backpack is of great quality and provides many clever areas for storage. And the mouse that comes with it is awesome too.

Cons: A little heavy, making portability a bit less convenient.

Vista...modern day Windows ME. No XP Support

I'm not certain if this is true for all units, but half the keyboard flexes inwards and the keys are much louder when used. The other side of the keyboard is very solid and has no flex.

Other Thoughts: Careful if you are thinking of installing XP, it will prove quite difficult to find proper drivers.

Overall this is definitely the best option for a gaming/desktop replacement on the market. Unless you really feel like spending $4k for some other notebooks of the like.

4 out of 5 eggsVery good laptop

Pros: I had in my mind to go for either Lenova T61P or G2S-B2. Finally I decided to go with G2S.
It is a solid build and strong machine. Beautiful Screen, letters and pictures are
very sharp (Max 1920x1200 resolution).

Cons: $2000 is Little pricey for Vista Home Premium machine. Vista is a waste to be on this machine.
If XP comes with this box, it would be more worthy. Asus should give us an option to downgrade to XP.
I give only four eggs out of five, becasue you can not downgrade to XP.

Other Thoughts: 1. We need XP drivers for download if we want to downgrade to XP.
2. Maual is not much informative

4 out of 5 eggsThis Computer is a Beast

Pros: My overall impression of the computer is very good. The monitor is great, it is smoking fast, and there are no annoying quirks that some other laptops have.

Cons: Only two problems.
1) The nvidia 8600m card is haviing some issues with windows vista. It should be fixed with a driver update, but until then, it is impossible to play any games.
2)It comes with a lot of extra programs, but about 10-20 minutes of work will clear them up.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop

Pros: This is a great machine. It runs Crysis on medium very well at high resolution. High even at lower resolutions decently well. I merely use Crysis as a benchmark for other games. This laptop is probably the best looking laptop I have ever seen. It runs very cool on loads compared to other laptops that I have used. This laptop exceeded my expectations. This screen itself sells the laptop :)

Cons: There are a few programs that shouldn't have been installed. Short battery life, but it's expected. You can keep the hand space clean with a micro fiber cloth because it smudges easily. It doesn't have DVI outputs.

Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for. $2000 is a hefty price for a laptop. It's a great laptop, probably my favorite. It runs great for games/multitasking. W/E you may have a use for it for. It's just a very high powered machine and I think ASUS did a great job on it.
