4 out of 5 eggsgood price/performance

Pros: awsome screen, runs vista pretty fast, graphics card runs alot of my games! hard drive isnt horrible for a laptop (mine has a seagate in it) ATi card performs well for what it is, got to drop settings down to low on most newer games thats within a year and a half old. I added a 2gig SD card into the slot and I am using it for Vista ready boost. realy helps with load times. also stepped up to 4 gigs of ram.

Cons: 3Dmark 05 = 5300, 3Dmark 06 = barely over 3000 rather homely performance but for the price I dont think you can build a desktop with a 15 inch monitor and add all the bells and whistles this has for the price so I guess not realy a con. CPU is a bottle neck here, not bashing AMD but 2.0ghz 1mg L2 just doesnt cut it for main stream gamming these days especialy if you have a video card that only has 4 pixel pipelines and ddr2 memory. DirectX 10 games slow down to a pathetic 10-15 fps even with most settings low. not playable in my opinion, some people dont mind dragging graphics tho.

Other Thoughts: Its a shame AMD didnt go over 2.2ghz on these Turion 64x2 chips. they have alot of potential. looked on orbs website to compare other laptops similar. upper end Intel T9300 chip only boast around 500-600 more points in 3D mark 06 so I think this is a great deal for the price. Still might want to spend just a little more and get a laptop with the ATi 3650 or Geforce 9500 series graphics cards. The 2600 isnt a comporable card to run DX10 games on. Still a great price grabber. 5 stars for great features and good price!

5 out of 5 eggsCan't beat it for the Price

Pros: Price, Speed, LCD and added Hardware.

Cons: The touchpad is ultrasensative. I have tried to adjust but finally resorted to turing off touch-click function.

5 out of 5 eggsExcelent Laptop

Pros: The is an awesome machine. Laptop was delivered on time and in perfect condition, Very well packed. Out of the box proformance rating was 4.7 and it came with no junk installed on it. You dont have to spend hours cleaning it up before you use it. Windows Vista Home Premium runs really well. Make sure you download all the updates and SP1 for Vista. Hard drive is set at 50/50 partition. Keyboard has an excelent feel to it and is very comfortable. I added a Microsoft Wireless Mouse but the touch pad works well. I recommend this machine for work or school. Add Microsoft Office 2007 and you have a powerful machine at a great price.

Cons: I have no cons.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS F3K Laptop

Pros: I have not had any issues with the laptop. I was pleased to see that it was not over loaded with demo applications and advertisements for other applications. It did come with a trial version of Microsoft Office and a trial version Norton. I uninstalled both of them and installed Open Office and Trend Antivirus.
The laptop does come with a recovery DVD and driver DVD.
The keyboard has larger keys then some other laptops which makes it more like a normal desktop laptop.
The case seems sturdy. I read some reviews that the LCD would bend easy but it is fine. Yes if you really try you can bend it some but it seems well protected. I work with HP and Lavono laptops at work. The Lanovo (IBM) LCD is stouter but they have been know for strong laptop cases.
I played with the video cam for a few minutes and its quality is good for a built in video cam. I like that the camera can be rotated 180 degrees so it can face out the back of the LCD display.

Cons: The speakers are OK for a laptop. I have heard worse! They are in a good location on top of the laptop between the LCD and the keyboard.
The laptop is heavy when you add it and the power pack in a laptop bag. Some of the other 15' laptops are a little lighter but not by much.
The laptop is wider then most 15' laptops and I had to look at a number of 15” bags to find one it would fit in.
The top of the laptop where your palms rest does get warm but it is not bad.
Battery life is average for it size. Using the Power4Gear software that comes with the laptop you can get about an 1 hour and 45 minutes in battery saving mode. In normal mode it will last about 50 minutes playing a DVD or gaming.

Other Thoughts: Wireless system worked great out of the box. It found my home network and after typing in my security info I got right in. I like the physical switch on the front to turn it off to save power.
The display is very clear and the viewing angle is better then some other laptops I have used.
I was looking for a low cost gaming laptop to play Vanguard. After looking at Toshiba, HP, Dell, and Gateway this laptop had the most gaming power for the dollar.
Vanguard is like WOW or Ever Quest but it has much higher graphics details such as the leaves moving in the wind and etc. It also is a lot more demanding on the video card, CPU, and hard drive.
I was pleased to see how well Vanguard preformed on this laptop. . The ATI 2800 (512) video card works well.

5 out of 5 eggsupdate for performance

Pros: Just wanted to let everyone that has 1 or plan to buy 1 know about an easy way to increase gamming performance on mine. much like many people who have posted here they have had a lack of video performance in many games and trying to get an updated graphics driver is less than easy. I was having fair performance in game but not to my liking, many dirext x 10 games didnt perform all that well and dirext x10 games was out the picture. I looked on ASUS website and it only had the same driver that came loaded on my system for vista wich is 8.401. I was desperate to find a more uptodate and optimized driver and after about 2 weeks of searching I finaly discovered asus FTP site that does have a newer driver not listed on there website. is the link you need to get to the correct folder on there ftp to get the latest driver. it is version 4.413.3

Cons: I then ran the in game performance benchamrk for F.E.A.R and the results are as follows: before I updated the driver the benchmark listed FPS as: 5% below 25fps, 31% at 25-40 fps and 64% above 40fps. after the updated driver it gaind a great increase and became 0% below 25fps, 10% 25-40 fps and 90% above 40fps!! more importantly he lowest fps it hit after the driver update was 39 the average was 59 and the max was 60 and this is with vsync enabled!

Other Thoughts: the new driver works great. not only did framerates increase in all games I ran but the image quailty took a huge boost. things look sharper and more detaild while running them in same settings. The settings for fear I ran had most settings to minimum, 1280x800 resolution, 2x AF and 2x AA wich made for a very nice looking and very fast and playable gamming experience. tho 3dmark 06 did not reflect ay changes with the driver, games realy shine and I can now run Hellgate London in DX10 mode witch was impossible before the driver update. If you purchase this laptop or own it, make sure you get the driver. it will make this laptop all the more sweeter even at its super low price.

5 out of 5 eggsRuns great

Pros: Good specs for the price. I got mine on sale for $799 a couple weeks ago as a replacement for an older PC. Runs Oblivion great on high settings. So far no freeze ups or any problems. Good display, decent sound, good build quality. Nice looking laptop.

Cons: None. Vista runs just fine, I don't see why everyone complains. Seems just like XP. I like the sleep and hibernate features. I use a mouse so the sensitive touchpad is not an issue for me. Gets a little warm when playing games, but that is to be expected and hasn't been any problem.

Other Thoughts: This obviously isn't a high end gaming machine, but it has no trouble except maybe with the newest cutting edge stuff. It is a huge improvement from the old PC I was using. A good buy for a gamer on a budget.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Darn good laptop. It's got enough memory, including video RAM, to do everything I want it to. Currently playing half-life and have gotten Crysis to run (under directx 9 of course). Best overall bang for the buck

Cons: Microsoft Vista...I HATE VISTA!!!!

Other Thoughts: Microsoft needs to make a lower resource using OS. This thing is a monster and takes up far too much space for the features it offers

5 out of 5 eggsgreat laptop

Pros: It performs much beter than i expeced, with another 2gb of ram it really flies. Plays games on mostly high settings, with alot of extra things like AA and Textre Filtering flawlessly, accept for crysis (what do you expect? its under a grand!). Vista, although it has its problems, seems more responsive than XP, and the software/driver support is getting better. Speakers dont sound horrible like most sub $1000 laptops

Cons: the keyboard dsent have a numberpad, the scroll "wheel" on the touchpad is very hard to make work, theres something up with the drivers that wont let you fullscreen streaming video from youtube and other sites like it. sometimes key presses dont register when hit, i don know if its me or the laptop, its easy to it the touchpad while typng and move the cursor somewhere else, vista is a memory hog. Unreal Tournament 3 was laggy before the ram upgrade, no matter what the graphics settings were. It gets a little hot, hotter than i expected, but not so hot to necessitate a cooling pad. HD is only 5400 RPM

Other Thoughts: get N82E16820231135 for a ram upgrade, its cheap and good ram. With a ram upgrade the laptop really flies. Much faster than i expected. Would reccomend this to anyone, especially a gamer on a budget. No xp drivers exist ight now, but i hink ill stick with vista for a while.

5 out of 5 eggsBuy while the great price lasts!!!

Pros: 200GB, 5400rpm HD gives plenty of space: 100GB for User Data and 100 partitioned for the OS. 2GB system memory and designated ATI HD2600 are the best parts of this system for such a LOW price. This is a great buy. Good job newegg.

Cons: Nothing. you get more than what you paid for if you compare it to to overpriced Sony and Apple notebooks.

Other Thoughts: Keep in mind that if you don't switch to low power states (power saver) your battery life decreases quickly, and don't rate the overall performance down because of this. This is true for any laptop.
